Over the river in Pennsylvania, I recall a couple of two foot snowfalls. One late spring, In which the snow all but disappeared by the afternoon. Another storm the governor closed the roads. By the next day everything was fine.
It does look like a long one, though. Starting late Friday night, all day Saturday, ending Sunday morning.

.They are calling for 11-17 inches her in Central Kentucky from this storm. That is more snow than we normally get in a whole winter. It is going to be a multi day storm though if those models can be believed.

I guess it depends on where you are, CBD. I live on the North Shore of Massachusetts, and all we're hearing right now is, "we may get snow, we may not. We won't know for another couple of days." Which is annoying, since I'd like to know what I'm going to be dealing with, but there it is. At least the storm's on a weekend, so I don't have to get up at 2 in the morning to dig myself out to go to work.

I was never a Palinista by any stretch, and I don't hate her either. She's just no longer helpful to conservatism in general, IMO, at least as she currently operates. I'd rather see her try to become a new generation's Prager, working on spreading the gospel of God, guns and limited government, than seemingly trying to stay in the limelight for notoriety's sake.

Something else I've noticed while talking to people about this election, is that a lot of Dem voters that either voted for Obama or didn't vote at all, love Trump, but will not vote for Cruz. I really believe the reason Trump is so high in all the polls is because of the dem crossover. I don't see this as a good thing.
I am on team Cruz and I don't know if I will be able to hold my nose and vote for Trump. Something I've always done in the past like a good little Republican. I don't trust Donald, I feel like he's a slimy salesman, all he cares about is winning, I don't think he really cares what team he's playing for as long as he wins and I'm not sure how that will play out if he's President.
Is he better than Clinton, or Bernie, of course, but that being said I still have a lot of thinking to do before I will be able to bring myself to vote for someone who has spent most of their lives having liberal views

I find it strange that eight (and four) years ago, some people were excoriating a candidate for wanting to be president when he had been in the Senate for only one term, might be ineligible for reasons of birth, might have been a citizen of another country as a boy, espoused policies that would hand American jobs to foreigners, etc., etc. And they were right on all counts. Said individual was elected, and among other things, gave Iran support in its quest to have nukes, and gave us TPP, for which he was justifiably excoriated some more.
And now some of those same people are all in for Ted Cruz....

Hence the need to use whatever means at the disposal of the Executive Branch to neuter the bureaucracy. Since all those agencies in theory fall under the rubric of the Executive Branch, shouldn't POTUS have the power to executive order most or all out of existence?
In the real Constitutional world, this may not be so, but SCOAMF has laid the groundwork for this. And of course everyone would go nuts if Cruz/Trump actually issued executive orders abolishing the IRS and EPA.

The president may not be able to abolish them at the stroke of a pen. But with a cooperative Congress, it would be possible to reduce the IRS to collecting taxes and completely neuter their law enforcement authority. Simplifying the tax code with a fair tax or a flat tax would scope the IRS back even further. And the EPA could be reduced back to its original limited mission.

Well if created by congress, then they must be destroyed by congress. That said, outside of every specified position that must exist by statute you could gut the living hell out of them, fire some, never replace others that retire etc. Everyone would scream bloody murder but you could in theory do it I think. You'd have to move fast though cause the legislative folks would wake up from their slumber and start passing veto proof paperwork to stop you.

The Italians are going to negotiate for energy directly with Putin and cut out "middleman" Germany so everything has gone sideways. Her brilliant economy is crashing. No one will obey Merkel or her flunkies in Brussells. She lost control of the "kids". She is essentially paying Turkey to send more. I'm trying to think of ways she could screw up more than she has and I can't. Maybe if the Germans start shooting at the Austrians and French this summer would top what she has already done.

Last year was the snowiest, at least for me.
The total was over ten feet, and I believe there was a day (or more?) when we had a foot or so in one day. There was a short-lived no-driving order, and the plows were running 24/7 for a time. Messy. Cold, too.
Of course when you spent the majority of your life in SoCal, any amount of snow is incomprehensible....

...Actually no. Civil Service employees are not "at will" employees after their probation period and can't be fired without cause.
You would have to get Congress to change or kill the Civil Service Act and it's amendments to do that.

.Funny you should mention that. We lost our snow plowing contract due to budgetary constraints one year and had to have GS Civilians shovel snow. It was a disaster. The guy with a heart condition volunteered to go out and shovel and people who had no business doing manual labor were out there pulling muscles and falling on the ice. We had over a dozen workers comp claims that winter. They found the funds to renew the contract quickly after that.

I was about 39k words in before I figured out my bad-guy's big plan. He's very crafty and sneaky. Still trying to write towards an end that keeps fluctuating because the characters insist on doing things. At 54,800 words and originally only expected this to be a 60k word story, I might have under-estimated.
