Rebel, about your lefty friends gun blog...
This strikes me as as being one of two things, or maybe both - a) she seems to be assuming that all she has to do is get the facts out there and all of a sudden people aganist guns will change their minds - that's a pipe dream since the left is using guns as a control issue - has nothing to do with guns, or b) she is really running a campaign to cut the legs out from under groups like the NRA by promoting "common sense" reforms - that Reagan quote makes me think it's more like b) rather than a). Meh, good luck to her and maybe as she does it more, she'll realize it's about control, period, and not just gun control. Posted by: Last at January 16, 2016 05:32 PM (8HiDF) 196

I find this version of football very strange.
The field is too small. Not enough players on the field. The goal posts can't kill someone if they're trying to get into the endzone. These losers need an extra down to try to get first down. Flare gun, the thought is attractive, people are instinctively afraid of fire.
Broke down on the side of the road set out a nice set of reflectors, by the book. Within two minutes and after near misses a car rounded the corner and took out two of the reflector before recovering. I dug down an pulled out some old striker flares. Cars would risk head a head-on avoiding those babies. Flare gun, big hit at the next camping trip, yeah. Posted by: Ralph at January 16, 2016 06:30 PM (+LunL) 322

But she wouldn't tell me where we were going except near main...turns out it was to a random persons house in a terrible neighborhood! I stared thinking maybe this was potentially not safe but it all came out alright. And I have the three dollars plus change I had in the car. Either way the situation is no better then now if they missed. If they scored then the conversion is one less thing to think about.

I've had conversations with people I just assume are talking to me because of context. Sometimes context is hard to suss out . You can't be tea party and at the same time have supported Barack Obama's stimulus. You can't be tea party and at the same time support the ethanol mandate because it's good politics in Iowa and support the sugar subsidies because it's good politics in Florida. They are men, dressed in womens' clothing, who may or may not have had their dicks deducted. Still, as males, they ought to be able defend themselves. (not that women can't, or shouldn't, but that men are normally more prepared to get physical if attacked) Maybe German drag queens should start carrying weapons. I'll probably watch it again. (Not the Patriots / Chiefs game; that seemed to be a snoozer.)
The important thing isn't quite the people involved. The important thing is figuring out Base A (which fell) from Base B (which held). Base A was the temporary embassy, which the main characters broke orders to re-secure, which had "Ambo" Stevens in it. The main characters successfully secured... some of it. But not in time to save Stevens; and then they had to flee it, because the Black Flag proto-ISIS militias were coming back. Base B was the *real* American presence in Benghazi. This was the sooper-sekrit CIA base, which had been leaked to proto-ISIS some weeks before. So when the main characters came back there, having failed to secure Stevens, proto-ISIS went and attacked that base too. /so I gather //shit was chaotic in benghazi ///and the assholes in DC didn't give a shit ////and still don't Posted by: boulder terlit hobo at January 16, 2016 08:20 PM (+8lio) 617

When my husband and I got serious, and I knew we were going to spend the rest of our lives together, I made him a CD of love songs so he could listen to them and think of me (we were living 1500 miles apart at that time).
Many of them have already been suggested. Grammie, I wish you a wonderful life and many blessings with your new husband! Posted by: DangerGirl and her 1.21 gigawatt Hardline Sanity Prod at January 16, 2016 09:55 PM (+eR2D) 809

My best advice is not to invite the Horde en masse, but to be a bit selective. The thing's gonna be on a ship - I guarantee you the Coast Guard, the Navy, and at least two dozen fireships would have to be on stand-by. Just reading some crap this evening. The crashing price of oil is causing some bank problems. The Fed, "under the table", has suspended mark to market rules on energy loans. IOW, the banks exposure with their energy loans would wipe out their capital, so the Fed is letting them slide on the accounting. Supposedly the Dallas Fed to a look at the real balance sheets (not dressed up by the accounting razzle-dazzle), shit their pants, and then realized they may have a "contagion" problem on their hands.

Why are CNBC & FBN, two supposedly 'speciality' channels on business, so TERRIBLE on everything to do with business? They both said for literally years coming into 2008 that there was no housing bubble, when it was EXACTLY a housing bubble that started the ball rolling to the disaster that devastated all our savings accounts and had President Bush and SoT Paulsen peeing in their Depends over overseeing what looked like the death of capitalism. Both FBC & CBNC have been predicting runaway inflation is due "soon", every day for almost SEVEN FREAKING YEARS in a row now, and yet it just never happens. That's at least 2 years past an entire business cycle, and it never happened. They both said Obamacare was going to destroy the economy, but then the stock market went UP BY almost 100% and the rate of increase of health care costs has cut back to historic levels we haven't seen since before the first Reagan administration.
You can't watch the new incoming Dem president in 2009 get handed a nearly dead economy, then watch as that economy grows more than twice as much as it ever did under President Bush, with multiple times as many jobs created as were created under Bush, and claim that a dip in the Dow & the S & P that's pretty much exactly like 4 other dips we've seen in the past 7 years and more than twice that many during the Bush years means the sky is falling. You may fool the backwater morons and yahoos who won't ever vote Dem anyway, but you won't fool that top ten or so percent of Republican earners, and they're gonna think you're nuts and vote Dem for that reason.
