I realize that its narcissistic to make someone else's death about onesself; but with that said Bowie's death affected me. In my youth one of the first albums I bought was Ziggy Stardust. And yes it was pretty ghey but the truth is that a lot of the ghey ones (e.g. Queen) had something really rebellious in them that spoke to teenagers. They were fighting for or against God knows what, but that sense of them being rebels, and not just posing about it, was real and eloquent. It was a good thing to rock out to going through those years.

Can The GOP Win Trump Voters? Not this one. 2014 was the last straw. The author makes two assertions, neither of which I believe: 1.) that Teh Donald will lose to Scankles. Right now the polling is too fluid to lock that in as a certainty, and it remains to be seen whether her pending indictment (from which she will certainly walk) affects the race, and; 2.) that by mouthing the right platitudes the "Trumpenproletariat"* can be brought back to the GOPe fold. Which simply won't work, because we don't believe the lying fuckers any more, no matter WHAT they promise. *NR clown show Jonah Goldberg being too clever by half. Don't like Iowa and New Hampshire always going first in the primaries? Blame the LCF: Texas GOP Chairman Tom Mechler has decided to withdraw a proposal that would have changed the first four early voting states after receiving concerns from Ted Cruz. Mechler, a member of the Republican National Committee's rules committee, had planned to raise the idea during the RNC's winter meeting, which begins Tuesday in Charleston, S.C. The rules change, he said, would have eliminated "those four states' ability to go first," referring to Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada. http://tinyurl.com/jvxoqq7 Posted by: Laurie David's Cervix at January 11, 2016 10:06 AM (kdS6q) 58

I've been a Bowie fan all my life. My first real concert was on his Station to Station tour in '76. 2nd row seats because I knew a girl who worked for Ticketron.
Two groupies in the front row wore metallic bikinis (one silver, one gold) and took turns taking their tops off. I was sixteen, it made an impression. And this was in the days when people just passed joints down the rows as if it were a public accommodation. Saw him again in 2004-ish at the Fleet Center. Horrible accoustics. He was giving a real intimate, chatty performance, with charming anecdotes and acoustic guitar and I got basically none of it. And just the right kind of thing for me as I'm not a huge Bowie fan but he always managed to have one or two songs per album that I liked. As a BONUS- Adrian Belew was playing lead. so, that was awesome. I'd hoped in his shot in the spotlight he'd playing something from "Mr Musichead" alas no, it was the very Bowie-esque "Pretty Pink Rose". RIP David Bowie. David Bowie was an original and he had so many phases and put out such a diverse array of music--pop, glam, blue-eyed soul, electronica, piano ballads--that it's hard to believe it came from one guy. He wasn't afraid to experiment--or to collaborate and he collaborated with Iggy Pop, John Lennon, Queen, Pat Metheny, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Mott the Hoople, Lou Reed.
His newest, and now last, is brilliant. And it will now hit #1. And some ghey--he's been married to a supermodel for 25 years.... Posted by: JoeF. at January 11, 2016 10:25 AM (5PYHo) 119
