Did anyone see the movie M? There is a scene at the end where a bunch of local criminal pull the serial killer in and give him a trial outside of the system.

I sort of picture something similar as possible, if the public doesn't think their government is protecting them.

8 Speaking of refugees, just heard that last week DHS dumped *1000* unaccompanied minors, en masse, in Littleton, CO. They will be living in some federal facility turned mass orphanage. The will be somehow have to be integrated into the state's smallest school district - no doubt ill-prepared to deal with these stressed out, Spanish-speaking, culturally foreign kids. And this is supposed to be "caring" for the children? What a mess!!

French has a pretty interesting resume. Yes, Harvard educated lawyer like Cruz but also won a Bronze Star in Iraq so not exactly a twit.

I was never as high on Rubio as a certain garbage blogger, and he was definitely touted in the Rightosphere as Great Conservative Hope, but I thought he had promise. I'd like to think that his Gang of 8 dance was just an attempt to raise his profile and show he was doing something but he needs to run not walk away from that crap before I could ever consider him.

Some here will recall my occasional ramblings on this back when I was dealing with the Fairfax (VA) system - so many of the "facts" we were given about the poor dears were nowhere near "facts" - most were older than claimed, many showed up for a few days and never again, while others played the various systems and went place to place picking up food, supplies, etc...

Almost worked out for us, though, when one showed up for baseball practice one spring. Trouble was we never could confirm age/location/etc., and he tended to show up at the first few practices a bit, well, loaded.
Probably wound up playing in the Dominican league...

Israel and the US should increase intelligence sharing in order to ensure that Iran is not breaching its nuclear agreement through involvement in North Koreas nuclear project, Steinitz said.

In July of last year world powers adopted a final, comprehensive agreement with Iran that will govern its nuclear program for over a decade.

In 1994, North Korea signed a nuclear agreement with the US, under the administration of former US president Bill Clinton. He said at the time that the deal meant North Korea will freeze and then dismantle its nuclear program. South Korea and our other allies will be better protected. The entire world will be safer as we slow the spread of nuclear weapons.

Clinton said that the United States and international inspectors will carefully monitor North Korea to make sure it keeps its commitments. Only as it does so will North Korea fully join the community of nations.

Good that you are aware of this. Texas isn't a CC state but, oddly enough, the textbooks supplied (at least in Clear Springs ISD) are *very* similar. Even some homeschool curriculum are touting that they are CC compliant.

I experienced this first hand in Austin. I was the *only* parent at registration with an American driver's license. Illegal kids enroll with nothing but a "statement of residency" and their Mexican ID.

How'd we get into such a mess? Well, the district bused our son across two highways to get him to that school. We didn't realize how crappy it was because it is a "recommended" campus (a Texas thing based on test scores). I didn't dig into the demographics or I would have seen that the school is 90% hispanic. The other 10%? The kids they snatched out of our neighborhood to improve test scores and give them the ability to say that they were doing oh so great in terms of test scores.

Her response, honest to God was "Well, you shouldn't have a problem if your child is vaccinated. He won't catch anything. But the medical facilities in their home countries are just as good as ours and they are getting vaccinations thanks to the UN and other organizations."

Sigh. She moved to Montgomery County over the summer (good place for her) so we don't have to deal with her any more. But that's basically the mindset.

Texas, under George W. Bush, was one of the first states to begin testing along the lines of what later evolved nationally into NCLB.

All that this did was to give TX educrats an early leg up in figuring out how to cynically game the system, the same way that educrats everywhere always do.

Some may recall that Dubya picked Rod Paige as Secretary of Education, based on the supposedly brilliant turnaround in the Houston schools which Paige had overseen during the new testing regime. It then later came out that there had been a truly massive and systematic pencil-whipping of those test results by the Houston ISD to include outright fraud.

(Apple, notably, has never said word one about it, but the media insists they must be doing something with it). I think they see the progs' next move as clearly as I do: mandatory public transportation, which until the Glorious Light Rail is constructed will consist of a government fleet of self-driving cars.
