8 Carry over from the previous thread. It took me a while to remember this stuff .

>>>>>Can't paste because it's a scan, but here's a quote: fron The Battalions
by Capt Mark Reardon, "enginner support to TFA in the latter's drive
for Porchina"

So, the TFA is something driving on the town of
Porchina that the engineers are supporting -- and it so happens the
1108th was assigned to support II Corps Fifth Army.

So, that seems to be a contemporary usage.

Historically speaking the rate stays down until taxes are reformed/cut. This includes Obamacare (it's a tax says the Chief Justice). The EPA and other agencies (surprisingly including the NSA) act as a tax.
No predictions on when since we don't know how thorough the reform will be. The current system is peak tax though. That's why the agencies bout all the hollow points. :-)

110 "my investment guy was telling me two weeks ago that those in the know thought this would be a good year."

one old veteran money guy commented on how now, people don't learn critical thinking ... they play mo-mo, all go with the flow, and government now helps with the gimmickry.

Massive misallocation of capital ... zero interest rates keeps bad business afloat at a cost to all others, rewards bad investments, long enough to harm good business.

LTCM was the one with the big algorithm with huge leverage ... millionaires got bailed out when it collapsed (1999 or so). Middle America are treated as sheep to be shorn ... plowing money in regularly, told markets always go up. Soros and Goldman Sachs will be short on the way down, and shear those sheep. The buy and hold people could be negative on their investments since 2000 or earlier, if we have some sort of return to "normalcy", if that's even possible without something even more radical.

I don't see why DOW 6500 was the wrong number in 2008, and only manipulation has juiced it back up. But I've been wrong for a long time, judging just by the market.

Once the Fed started messing around with QE infinity everything got messed up. idk, but I don't see them putting that back for a long time, unless maybe there was some overheating, or whatever. Seems more likely to me they will try QE4 if the markets really slide, and when that fails the downside really takes hold, as they reveal they are powerless, the gig is up.
