2 Good morning horde
Well I was going over to sisters yesterday and dropped my kindle shattering it. Went to get a replacement and was talked into getting a Galaxy English tablet.
So far I'm not liking it, it does much more than I need and that isn't a good thing sometimes.

6 The Detroit Free Press, the local Democratic Party newsletter, ran a story asking readers to post "headlines we'd like to see in 2016."

One reader offered, "President-elect Trump promises to revoke every Obama executive order " 'before I leave the podium' ".

Subhead: "Promises AG Gowdy will prosecute Obama 'under the Rule of Law'."

Mother-of-four who won $188 million Powerball prize spends millions to bail out her heroin-trafficking boyfriend for the THIRD time in less than a year

Marie Holmes bailed her live-in boyfriend, 31-year-old Lamarr McDow out of jail for the third time since March early Friday morning after posting his $12 million bond following an arrest for violating a pre-trial release agreement for prior heroin-related charges.

She posted McDow's $3 million bail in March, after he had been in jail since 2014 on heroin-trafficking charges. In August, she posted his $6 million bail after he was cited during a raid in July. The bonds are skyrocketing because the amount doubles if a defendant breaks pre-trial release rules. The non-refundable fee paid to bailbondsmen is at least seven per cent, which for Holmes, hits about $1,470,000.

Because, while she's an idiot, she's not a complete idiot.

If she posts the bond and he skips, she loses the entire bond. This way, the bondsman takes the hit and she's just out the fee.

On the Gulf Coast, there are 12 casinos and one of them is 'smoke free'. (there are a few paces to smoke, including one room inside the casino). But that is by their choice. It's a marketing decision and it seems to be working out for them.

73 "Bill Clinton more than anyone is directly responsible for 9/11, the 9/11
commission report was a white wash of his governments culpability in
allowing it to happen."

It was obvious the fix was in when the Democrats insisted on Jamie Gorelick being named to the Commission, despite her direct personal involvement as a key Clinton-era official in the very events and policies the Commission was purportedly investigating.

The Beltway Republicans meekly agreed to her inclusion. And then vocally endorsed the it's-no-one's-fault-really conclusion of the Committee report.

One hand washes the other. Democrats were avid to exonerate Clinton from accusations of incompetence. Republicans were equally avid to exonerate George W. Bush from the same accusations.

Hey, kids, I've got an idea! Let's not blame anyone in government! Shit happens! No biggie. Only a few thousand dead Americans and a couple of trillion bucks in economic damage, and encouragement to jihadis around the world. Now how's about we go for lunch and drinks?

The result of all their grandstanding, preening, and viewing-with-alarm was a considerable amount of cred with some otherwise sensible people who touted both for higher office while they were at their peaks. Both were accorded "hero" status for their roles as Crusading Conservatives.

So they come up with a compromise solution, where a resolution will be passed that even though Loretta can't HAVE babies, she has the RIGHT to have babies. And then they proceed to call him Loretta throughout the rest of the movie.

Oh geez, I believe we have all of those. But where buildings should not be built we don't build them. Every new subdivision must control storm water. We have retaining basins that equal 20, 000 residential swimming pools when full. There may be six to eight of them in a good sized development.

When I'm preparing the food for my four-legged friends, the four cats all wander around my feet, licking themselves or each other, but anxiously waiting to be fed.

I just cover her food, and if she and I both happen to be back there at the same time later, I'll give it to her. Otherwise, tough luck, dummy.

The abrupt reversal by the administration came as Iranian President Hassan Rouhani publicly ordered his military to dramatically scale up the countrys missile program if the sanctions went ahead.

Senior U.S. officials have told lawmakers the sanctions were delayed because of evolving diplomatic work between the White House and the Iranian government.

And the government is the best steward of your property. Look what they have done for the VA, your health insurance, Federal rangeland, wildlife areas, the manufacture of automobiles and banking.

"

Liberals generally wish to preserve the concept of "rights" for such
"human" rights as freedom of speech, while denying the concept to
private property. And
yet, on the contrary the concept of "rights" only makes sense as
property rights. For not only are there no human rights which are not
also property rights, but the former rights lose their absoluteness and
clarity and become fuzzy and vulnerable when property rights are not
used as the standard. In the first place, there are two senses in which property rights are identical with human rights: one, that property can
only
accrue to humans, so that their rights to property are rights that
belong to human beings; and two, that the person's right to his own
body, his personal liberty, is a property right in his own person as
well as a "human right." But more importantly for our discussion, human
rights, when not put in terms of property rights, turn out to be vague
and contradictory, causing liberals to weaken those rights on behalf of
"public policy" or the "public good.
"

Zoning laws impinge on property rights, and as such deny human rights.

164 Zoning laws are pretty much locally determined because every location differs.

Obama wants to have a national database of zip codes with demographic information to prove that my little town with strong zoning laws is racist. We handle our stormwater, protect our high quality trout streams, maintain groundwater recharge so that the depth to water is enviable anywhere in the nation. But it adds on average approximately 10, 000 dollars to the cost of every housing unit. So that's racist because some demographic group would be adversely effected by this higher cost.

171 Flooding in the midwest is a very complex issue, and reducing it to a question of zoning laws misses a great deal of it.

If you want to "blame" anybody for our current (pun intended) problems here these days, blame Jimmah Carter and the conservationists, who prevented scientific methods of dealing with natural events.

Instead, we have a hodge podge of solutions that protect high level development, at the expense of people downriver without powerful sugardaddy governmental entities protecting them.

Downtown St. Louis was unscathed this week, while small towns that EXISTED LONG BEFORE TINKERING WITH THE ECOSYSTEM STARTED, were/are devastated.

I'm not earth scientist, but it seems we had the tools to deal with this known problem, and we let nitwits decide things piecemeal, so the problems are going to manifest themselves, here and there, depending on who you know in power.

191 When I was in the area of flooding in the past week to visit a family member I walked her entire yard and most of her subdivision. Her yard was covered in water about 10%, the ground was soggy with ankle deep mud about 60%. That level of neglect of stormwater management never would happen where I live. There were about four acre-sized permanent ponds in the subdivision to handle stormwater but the grading on the individual lots was pathetic, at best.

So her children won't be able to use the property she just purchased until spring at the earliest. I think she made a big mistake but I kept my mouth shut.

*****

There are multiple variables to this question. As we all know from progressive reporting on climate science, heat is ridiculously shy, preferring to hide in the deep oceans and far underneath layers of polar ice. Thus, I suspect that the heat in a cup of coffee, if subjected to the visual scrutiny of total strangers, by way of a transparent mug, would retreat to the safety of the innermost center of the liquid coffee, thus delaying the loss of heat and resulting in longer time to equalization with the ambient surroundings.

Drying cut potatoes prior to cooking really helps with browning and crisping. I have the best luck doing them in the oven actually, versus skillet frying. After drying, I toss them with a little oil and seasonings. Then onto a cookie sheet in a single layer at 350, turning occasionally for about 45 or until they're browned as you like. My secret weapon is tossing them in duck fat, then oven frying. They come out peeeerfect. Crispy outsides, soft and fluffy insides.

Sigh! That's the problem with scientific inquiry... always end up with more questions than answers.

271 New Madrid... First read about the possible effects of "if it happened today" some forty years ago. I think the article said they thought it likely to happen in the next 50 years...

Article was in the Chicago Tribune. Said the old sandy shores around Lake Michigan would, basically, "liquify," and any structures not properly constructed would become uninhabitable. Not to mention all the infrastructure ruined, gas lines rupturing, water lines broken, roads unnavigable. And that's just Chicago, hundreds of miles from the epicenter.

About the only place to ride it out in Chicago? Top of the Hancock, built with whatchacall rolling caissons (?) and shock-absorber base. (I've been up there when it's just wobbling in the wind; it's weird.) Of course, you would lose power, and be surrounded by devastation, but at least you'd be okay while the booze held out.

Recall that the Clinton 42 administration sold our high-end missile technology to the Chinese for some campaign contributions, in addition to AirBnBing the Lincoln bedroom and stealing the silverware when they left the White House. What would a Clinton 45 administration steal?

There are over 1,000 undisclosed donors who donated to the Chelsea Clinton Legacy Foundation through a Canadian affiliate. Will anyone look there?

Other than it's totally out of character for Trump, or his supporters, to be devious, you might have a point. One of the things that endears Trump to his fans is the fact that he speaks his mind, and does not resort to subterfuges.

You can dislike the guy if you like, but when you try to paint him with the faults of his opponents, some of that paint sticks to you.

At least country singer's dog survived.

My sympathy is with the rescuers who have to be tied up looking for the fool's body.

Brings to mind that old standup sketch by Bill Cosby about being a medic, in Korea IIRC. Soldier in the trenches sees his buddy picked off, yells "Charlie! They got Charlie!" and runs out into the open, where the sniper chuckles and immediately wounds him. First thing the soldier says when he's down? "Medic!" As Cosby's Noah might say, "riiiight."

364 Max R, let me grant your point for a moment. I'd cheer on Trump while dissing Rubio for this action. But there are 2 important differences:

1) The Pubio donor is trying to advance a harmful agenda with this stupid stunt, deliberately trying to get people *not* to think. Trump is not suuporting such an agenda, and since he didn't do this, we don't know if his message would've had substance.

2) Most here agree it's slimy to politicize a parade, with something unavoudable. Unavoidable like a bum on the subway. But the left has always been using slimy tactics with success, when we were too dainty and pure to. So evenif Trump did this first, it would still be a *response* to the left.

So while the reactions would differ, there is NO hypocrisy, or inconsistency.

369 Iowa fans booed the Stanford scatter band's performance yesterday which featured a lonely poor farmer on Farmers' Only . com, a corn maze and a fake cow being tipped.

These scatter bands(bands that have no musical director, wear no uniforms, and do "comedy'" skits while honking out some kind of tune) are the purview of elite schools full of progressives, such as Harvard and Stanford.

Stanford in particular loves to taunt the opposing teams fans in a way that the elites themselves would never tolerate. For example, they played at halftime several years ago at Notre Dame and did a skit which involved a priest molesting a boy. ND has banned them from ever playing at ND.
They did a halftime show recently in which they pointed fingers at Ohio State's band's publicized problems with internal sexual jokes, racist songbooks(that no one has ever seen), etc. that resulted in Jon Waters being fired and a Title IX investigation) by spelling out script Ohio as "OHNO".
While at the same time, hazing was going on in the Stanford band that included alcohol with emetics added for public vomiting, sexual questions on the band admittance form, etc. Stanford's band received a travel ban from the school this year to away games, but that was it. Their first travel game was to the Rose Bowl, and they decided to make fun of Iowans.

400 Probably if Trump had done that skywriting against one of the other candidates, we would say it's okay because it's Trump.

That said, Trump wouldn't do that. He has had no problem being up front and personal about any thing he has to say about any of the other candidates.

This skywriting thing was done anonymously (at first) with no great effort to take "credit" for it.

Which shows that the person is someone with TDS and thinks everyone else agrees with them. I'm sure they're surprised at the amount of pushback and negative feedback they're getting.

And also, SO WHAT? I can cheer my candidate doing something that I would decry another candidate doing. There's no law against that. Why do you try to frame that as some sort of negative?

I'll answer for you: because you don't like Trump and are angry that he's winning and that he has so much more support than the guy you support. And you want to try to guilt his supporters into feeling ashamed of some sort of unfairness or bias. Again, I say SO WHAT. Suck it bitch. We like him, his flare and his forthrightness. Sure he may not do half of what he says but he does understand how we feel and what we're thinking which is something your guy or gal would kill to have.

411 A thought just struck me like a micrometeorite...

2001 versus 2010 aesthetics.

In Kubrick's vision of the future, we have bases on the Moon. They are basically using the mature technology of their times. Even the nuclear propulsion of Discovery. And it's all clean, sleek, and bright. Some would accuse Kubrick of having an antiseptic view of the future, but I say balderdash as his vision was positive since Americans and Russians were getting along in space.

Now compare that to Hyam's alleged vision of the future. It is all industrial and dingy. It has the aesthetics of a Soviet Lada plant. As if shouting to everyone the future stinks.

The conversational gambits are a bit limited, but I'll try to do what I can to help out:

In the novel Saint Jack by Paul Theroux, Jack is captured by members of a Chinese tong. They hold a drunken debate over whether or not to kill Jack. They finally decide Jack is too insignificant to kill.

So, they call in a tattoo artist & have Jack covered in Chinese characters which read, "I am son of dogshit."

429 That swastika on the guys head is an Indian (dot not feather) swastika. It's an old time aryan (not the nazis) symbol.

How do I know? Because it's backwards from a Nazi Swastika.

The arms rotate in a clockwise manner. Nazi swastika is anti-clockwise.

And the 6 point star also is a hindu aryan symbol taken up by the Hebrews also.

A closer look and many other Indian symbols are present. I would guess this guy is either Indian himself (he has some appearance of that) or is enthralled by the history and religions of India.

435 That said, Trump wouldn't do that.

I don't think you're entirely wrong, but I think it's much simpler, actually: it reeks of desperation. And that's not exactly something you want to smell like this far out if you're a dim little open-borders gimp like Boobio.

And, yeah, the message "anybody but Trump" is pretty much saying you'll vote Hillary when it come down to it. Not something I'd want my "supporters" saying.

443 India has/had so many religions and they all partook/partake of each others symbols you could be correct but I've seen stuff older than Buddhism that had the broken cross on it.

Some anti clockwise and some clockwise and some what they call left and right (the position of the symbol itself)

So yeah Buddhist, Hindu, ancient Aryan. The history of Indian goes back at least as far as the Egyptians. Maybe farther if the Veddas are considered. And the Bhagavad Gita dates from then or further back.
