Christmas: Twitter Style - Niedermeyer's Dead Horse

A roundup of Christmas-related tweets. I'm leaving the truly rage-inducing for another day.

So not creepy

That photo!

Do you agree?

A reminder that not all is merry and bright, and life can turn on a dime

To those who aren't just lounging about today

Thank you, God, for the Blessing of living in the greatest nation ever conceived, and for those who risked it all to make it happen.

Ending on a lighter note: Some girls are just so cool.

UPDATE: D'awww

Reason.com: A professor at the University of Central Florida thinks the safest way to greet other people during the Christmas season is to wish them a "Happy Federal Holiday." This bright idea belongs to Terri Fine, a professor of political science at the University of Central Florida, who recently penned a column outlining her vision:

My late MiL was married to an abusive alcoholic, who died long before I had a chance to meet him.

Recently saw the 1949 musical remake, "In the Good Old Summertime" with Judy Garland and Van Johnson for the first time. Pretty faithful to the original, but what surprised me most was her rendition of "Put Your Arms Around Me Honey", because my mom used to sing that to me when I was really little, and I never knew where the song came from.Just as in "Shop Around the Corner", the "big reveal" takes place at Christmas. As to favorite Christmas movies, I also like "We're No Angels" with Humphrey Bogart, "Donovan's Reef" with John Wayne and Lee Marvin, and "Holiday Affair" with a 20 year-old Janet Leigh and Robert Mitchum:http://bit.ly/1OrjARQ

Somewhat a dramatic RomCom involving a war widow, her son, an electric train, her boyfriend and a new guy who comes into the picture. Lots of form-fitting late'40s outfits on Miss Leigh. Harry Morgan has a great scene as an exasperated Desk Sargeant.

Watch for the "product placement" of Corn Flakes during a long scene between mom and son. I didn't know that they were doing that in 1949.

186 Hmph. First mil was, shall we say, a bit odd. Had I met her before I married her son, I wouldn't have. Truly, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
My second mil absolutely hated my guts for years, hadn't met me but called me every name in the book. She was close to my husband's ex, and I was Jezebel. Once we actually met and she saw I didn't have horns and a tail...well, she's been gone for three years and I miss her as much as I do my own mom. A wonderful, strong, smart and classy lady.

Excellent Christmas here, had lots of family over. Got some much desired Amazon gift cards, (already spent on some neat gadgety components, like a 100 watt LED module, and buck converter to drive it. The next bastard that parks across the street in the middle of the night at the school, shining his brights at my house is gonna get a face full right back).

The dishes are already done, on account of we did most of the heavy cooking, and cleaning yesterday. The wife never even changed out of her pajama's today. A totally relaxed, and enjoyable Christmas so far!

I hope everyone's Christmas was/is as enjoyable this year as mine.

210 Netanyahu Hopes For Greater Security For Christians In Christmas Greeting

Bibi didnt have to take a break from vacation or golfing.

In a video posted Thursday to extend his Christmas greetings, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he hopes for greater security and freedom for all Middle Eastern Christians.

I am proud to say that Israel is one of the few countries in the Middle East, maybe the only country in the Middle East, where Christians are truly free to practice their faith openly, freely to celebrate Christmas and other Christian holidays, Netanyahu said.

The state of Israel is a beacon of liberty in a Middle East plagued by oppression and extremism, he said, adding, It is my fervent hope, my fervent prayer, that 2016 is marked by greater security and freedom for all Christians across the Middle East.

I was going to say "how is that f*cking possible?!", but we as kids saw old movies shown regularly on t.v., and not just on specialty channels like TCM. And don't get me started on the lack of Creature Feature-style programming. The darlings have no idea what most of these sci-fi parodies are making fun of. This used to happen at raves.

MDMA isn't one of the world's worst methamphetamine-cousins, but it does induce compulsive thought-patterns and play tricks on the memory. So if a raver is told "bro, you need to stay hydrated" then he'll... do that. And keep doing that. And do it some more to make sure.

Both male adults lied on their visa applications. One didnt disclose his arrest and deportation from Israel and the other didnt disclose his criminal record. Game over! And since they are the ones who lied they know why they were barred from entry. If they had not lied, they would have never had their visas approved inadvertently. So, they and the international press can go suck balls. I'm tired of their lying. It's amazing that the press will lie to enable terrorists to enter this country. Scum.

Fair enough. But if you taught US History in college (I teach European and American History at University, btw, and have published academic articles and books, who my publishers tell me have been bought by dozens of actual people, and possibly even read by one or two, if we are comparing bona fides), then you should know that Valley Forge was 1777, and Trenton was 1776. My drink is Hungarian pálinka, home made of course, and it is early in the morning, so I won't be long for the land of the conscious, unfortunately.

336 My second mil absolutely hated my guts for years,

-
Many years ago, thirty-eight to be exact, my sister was engaged to a guy. She dumped him and married another guy who was older than her and divorced from his first wife. About a year ago, he had a lung transplant that never really took and he died a few weeks ago. For the last year, my mother has been fit to be tied. She hated it that my sister had to devote so much time to her ailing husband and made no bones about her belief that it was time for him to, uh, move on. Even after his death she is on about how we should never have had to go through this because my sister should have married # 1 fiance.

So a mere 38 year relationship don't mean shit.
