When I lived in Saratoga Springs we had a real heavy snow one Thanksgiving, but that weather is a lot different than NYC. Also, I understood at the time that heavy snow then was very rare.

While I do not approve of burning witches ("but I understand"), there are actual witches in Africa, although we have more PC names for them now. Much of our sense of hilarity at witch-burning arises from the assumptions, by Arthur Miller and Monty Python, that there never was any such thing.
Mainline Protestant and Catholic movements some time ago may have used them for politically expedient mass mobilizations, but there were, and are, witches. I cannot say what the efficacy of their practices is, but, in many cases, they would burn you too if they had the chance. So there is that.

.I think he got a call from a LA cop looking at him in some sort of investigation and he panicked. There was an article I saw that had the transcripts from that day and there was radio chatter that his name had come up in some sort of Police investigation the week before and they were trying to find him.
