6:40 a.m.: The Telegraph (UK), citing the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), reports that female suspect Tashfeen Malik is originally from Pakistan--not Russia, as some early reports erroneously claimed.
The couple had a child believed to have been born in May this year, according to Hussam Ayloush, Council of American Islamic Relation executive director.
Farook's family was originally from South Asia, while Malik was believed to be from Pakistan and had lived in Saudi Arabia before coming to the United States, Mr Ayloush said.

Then he finds out at the Holiday Party (spit) that he's being reassigned in some way that makes that plan impossible, so he goes home, says "Hon, let's shoot up the infidels today!" and the happy couple goes jihad.

As a cable cutter Fox Business isn't an option. But streaming CBSN is pretty decent. It's mostly unedited raw feeds with no time for propaganda insertion. Since CBS has affiliates with cameras just about everywhere any big story gets full court coverage on their streaming site.

I was thinking along similar lines, that they were probably working on a different plot that was more involved and with a higher potential bodycount, but something made him decide to drop it and go after the office party instead.

My son who has been in competition for "Crabby American teen boy 2015" for the past few weeks starting running with Track and Field again. He had been on the Cross Country team in the Fall, but then hurt his knee and was out for a month. Today he actually managed a smile and thanked me for making his breakfast, so I'm thinking that as sore as he is (having not run for a month) the regular exercise and work in the weight room has boosted his serotonin levels.

That would be when every federal, state and local government database is linked, and if you show up "bad apple" according to any of the powers that be, they start cancelling all your "prvileges" (e.g. firearms, drivers' license, banking, Passport etc). Basically they get to shut your life down on a dime.
We are now seeing the attempt to "link" disapproved behavior in one sphere with loss of rights in another. Combine it with ever expanding database capabilities, license recognition software etc and you have a Panopticon without precedent or limit.

.22LR and 9mm are fun to shoot. Unlike some bigger cartridges which really beat up your hand / wrist / arm. Yes, in a self defense situation, I'd rather be carrying something with more punch -- but if I'm just having fun shooting off some rounds...

.If you are a Vet and go to the VA for PTSD or TBI care they are already reporting that to the NICS guys. I do not have personal conformation from any Vet that they have been given a denied result on a check based on that, but I suspect that will be the next incremental step.

Yes when buying from a dealer. I've never had one take 45 minutes (10 tops) but who knows what else they were doing. Universal check simply means that anyone attempting to buy from a dealer must submit to a background check.
Now if you buy from a private seller, your B-I-L, etc then, no, no check. But some are trying to change that as well.

If a father wants to give his son an inherited gun, in many states he simply does it . The left gun grabbers want to make him go to the police department and have both go through a background check, pay fees, etc.
If you want to buy a shotgun from your neighbor, in most states, you can do so without going to any state or police department. The gun grabbers want to make this a felony. They want you to have to go to some official and have both of you go through a background check, pay fees, etc. and have the gun registered to the new owner.
If you really look at what this is, it is one of the steps of Bloomberg and all the other anti second amendments statists who ultimately want no one to own a gun. Everything is about making the ordinary gun too expensive and too burdensome from a paperwork standpoint to be purchased by the typical American.

Yes, there are already universal background checks.
What they're talking about is person to person sales. Which are... a very small % of sales. And even then, a not insignificant number of person to person sales still go through an FFL (with background check).
In my state, pretty much everyone on armslist wants to see your conceal carry permit for any gun before they sell it to you. Which means you've already passed the states background check.
And I can't think of the last time a "person to person" sale gun was used in a spree shooting.

I think the end goal is as follows:
1) make all gun transfers go through an FFL
2) outlaw most long arms, but grandfather in existing ones
3) make FFLs (or cops or whoever) confiscate the grandfathered in guns as the gun owners die or whatever.
So in other words, make it impossible for my dad to leave me a gun that would at that point in time be illegal, but is legal now.

In what state are dealers at gun shows not required to be FFLs? I get that if you and I meet in the parking lot and decide on a sale or trade that is a private sale, no paperwork.
But if I buy from a dealer at a gun show, I still have to follow current law = no "loophole".

I have no idea. I've heard of booths set up by non-FFLs, but I have not seen it and do not know if its true or not.
I think what they're talking about is the "pssst. hey -- you -- i see you're looking at glocks. I got one in my car that fell of a truck, I'll sell it to you for half price. What do you think?" scenario, which I also have not seen.

You will see sales/tradees occur between private parties at gun shows. You've brought a rifle to trade and some other buyer there sees it, likes it, and, just walks up and makes an offer. Not dealers, just two private parties who make a transaction.

You would be required to go to a police station and fill out a nice long form with everything from your ss number to the names of relatives, your boss, etc. Submit your drivers license or ID, etc. Then in about five to seven days, you would get permission to purchase or a denial. If your denial was due to something in your background check that you didn't indicate on the form, that in itself is a felony and you could be arrested.
Had a FFL holder at a gun shop tell me that they periodically get someone in buying a gun who is not eligible(has a restraining order, etc.) and when it pops up on their screen to deny the purchase, technically the sheriff is supposed to be notified and come in to arrest the person for attempting to purchase a weapon knowing they are not eligible. He said that never happens, yet if the gun store were to somehow screw up and sell to an underage or ineligible person, they would lose their FFL immediately.

If you buy from a "dealer" at a gun show yes, it's just like buying from a gun shop. But many booths at gun shows are just individual hobbyists selling their guns and in my state at least, that doesn't require any federal background check. I would easily wager 90% plus of these are older guns primarily for hunters and collectors.

Yeah, I think that's part of the deal when you go to get your FFL license.
I know people who have FFL licenses but aren't gun shops. They're just big gun fans and want to be able to buy guns online and ship it to themselves.
But I think they cannot sell any guns without acting as an FFL (so background check, forms to the ATF, required to keep records of all sales, and required to allow ATF inspection of their collection at any time)

There isn't much of a loop hole though. If you rent a table at a gun show, you still as an individual have to follow that state's laws regarding selling to private parties.
And rarely is anyone going to sell their entire collection of guns at a gun show. If they have a great collection, it will go through a consignment at a gun store, where FFL laws will be followed.
Most of the tables and booths I see at gun shows belong to licensed dealers. Who follow all FFL regulations. The entire gun show loophole Bullshit is simply that, bullshit. The vast majority of guns sold in the parking lot are cheap, long guns for somebody's kid to squirrel hunt with or an antique someone wants for their collection. People aren't in the parking lot buying Glocks out of someone's trunk.

After praising Obama's Oval Office statement (which was fine), NBC's Chuck Todd then ripped into Congress for inaction. As though we don't have a president to lead and lead the way, Todd wondered why Congress doesn't put politics aside and hold hearings and go on fact-finding hunts.
Again and again and again, this is what we see when it comes to these mass-shootings. To get off the hook, to shirk his responsibility, all Obama has to do is crybaby over the fact that he can't use these shootings as a way to grab our guns, and the media says, "Oh, poor guy. It's not his fault." Then the blame is magically shifted to Republican Party.

If you subtract out the women's vote, Democrats as they exist today would have no viability. This improves if you subtract out other non-land owners who have also been erroneously given the voting privilege.
As a result, the Democrats would be a different, at least less crazy party today. And, I think, the gutless compromising that got us $18 trillion in debt would not have happened.

Mixing the two in your paperwork is a big FFL no-no.

As part of the whole 'everyone should vote because fairness' madness, sure. I'm not sure of the practical effect though. As I recall 2008 was a hiccup in youth voting patterns-prior to that folks up to age 30 tended to be considered unreliable voters (in the sense of showing up on election day) and that participation rates increased with age up to seniors (and in Chicago, the dead).

I think women tend to be more compassionate and more willing to take criticism to heart, both of which are virtuous traits. But the left is good at using people's virtues against them, in order to dupe, dominate and destroy them. Like a criminal who pretends to be injured to get someone to open the door, or a kidnapper offering to show a child some puppies in the trunk of his car.
It's like some horrifying Darwinistic scenario in which the lower wins out and supplants the higher, simply because the inferior trait had better survival value in certain contexts.
So for example, in England women are empowered to vote and hold office. The Rotherham town council is composed of all women except for 1 guy. And they felt such compassion for the "asian" men who committed the rapes, that they covered up for them, lest they feel any racist backlash for raping people.
So we have the odd paradoxical result that empowering/enfranchising women seems to eventually leading to them becoming disempowered and oppressed. Wonder if that Pakistani girl who got shot will ever realize that.

No it isn't. We originally only allowed people who had a vested interest in the success of the country (as demonstrated by their productive use of land). That changed to 'everyone with a pulse and then some gets a say' and now we're in a position where the decision-making in the country lies entirely in the hands of people who don't have the intellectual framework to evaluate what 'not success' means for the country, and instead care only about what they can get the government to rob their neighbor in order to give them.
To pretend the change in voting rules was without consequence is just unserious. To discuss it is less about fixing the mistakes of the past than *not doing it again* (see mexican, muslim colonization).

It's somewhat true if you count social security and military expenses on the "spending" side.
Not a huge correlation, but one exists.
Also, some red states in the south have a lot of people on food stamps, which counts on the "spending" side.
Of course, the people on welfare in those states are largely D voters, but that doesn't matter.
