A chilly n' offshore foggy good evening, Horde.
How foggy? A Princess Cruise ship is anchored offshore, as it's too foggy to navigate halfway up the Houston Ship Channel to the Bayport Cruise Terminal. And if you want a howler of a lesson in the venal, corrupt and penurious nature of Houston Politics....well, just Bing up that cruise terminal in your search. There is not "graft" associated with that project. No, the whole damn project is nothing BUT graft, from beginning to end. It was supposed to generate revenue to the City from collecting lease and docking fees. Instead, it's such a White Elephant, that the Port of Houston has to pay the cruise lines millions of dollars per year, just to use the damn thing. Makes funding the stadium for the Texans, Astros and other teams look like downright good deals for the beleaguered taxpayers. And makes me glad that I'm not a Houstonite, too. Galveston has enough tax n' spend fraud of it's own, but damn, that cruise terminal is the Taj Majal of civic profiteering. You never know. Dr No may have built one. Posted by: Stringer Davis at November 30, 2015 12:11 AM (xq1UY) It is water-cooled. One place wanted $700 for a special coolant system....I'm going with a $100 Walmart dorm fridge to put the coolant bucket in -- cut notches in the gasket for water in, water out, and pump power in. I've got all sorts of nutty things to do with this thing already, and it's not even close to being turned here or turned-on. For example, Sur La Table is having a big thing about "sous-vide" cooking -- where you seal a steak in a bag and cook it in water at low temps until done, then sear the outside with a blowtorch ...... or, perhaps, a 40W CO2 laser. Short answers at press conference is a dick? Thought us morons like it when the press are put in their place.
Well that's the thing, he's not getting questions that are out of bounds, he's just getting the usual questions every coach gets asked, what did you think about a certain players performance, can you give us an update on so and so's injury and so on, sure they're bland and boring and every coach probably hates having to answer them, but they do answer them, except Belichick, who stands there and mumbles a couple of words that amount to nothing. If he was getting outlandish questions his schtick would have the effect of putting the press in their place, but there's just no reason not to answer the normal questions that get asked every game, Marshawn Lynch does the same thing, they get paid lots of money, it's not going to kill them to answer some bland questions. cthulhu,
Thanks for asking. Am simply enduring the (very considerable) pain, and waiting to amass the funds to take steps to deal with it. Until then, it's careful with the aspirin, miserly with the vicodin, and rationed with the bourbon before (for what it's worth), bedtime. Not that it lets me have more than an hour's sleep at a time. In other words, it sucks, but all I can do is press forward, carry on, quit whining and find a way. But if anyone knows of a charity minded Houston/Galveston area doctor who might help, I'd sure appreciate the introduction. With that, I'm logging off and gonna put the shoulder in a scalding shower before bed. Might not be the "right thing" to do therapeutically, but it soothes and allows some rest. So for me, it's the right thing, regardless. Hasta la nite nite, Horde, and again, Happy Birthday, Ms. SMFH! Jim Sunk New Dawn Galveston, TX Posted by: Jim at November 30, 2015 01:13 AM (McRlu) 276

So thought for the night:
The Book of Mormon stage play here in Tulsa. You know the one that so uproariously funny because it makes fun of Mormons? So, is there any chance that Broadway's next smash will make fun of Big Mo and Islam? Imagine it, it could feature songs like: A love song forAisha, I may be 52 and you are only 9, but, I love you, little you... Kill An Infidel A Day--there'll be even more joy when you pray five times a day Jihad Jive just begs for a snappy dance number, don't it. ------------ Yeah, all of that may have been in bad taste, but, I am sick to death of hearing how funny and tres chic and hip it is to make fun of certain people's deeply held relgious beliefs, while saying the least little T-R-U-E[/b thing about Islam makes you a R-A-C-I-S-T. ---- So when special snowflake and sibling of special snowflake are gone some weekend, have a garage sale to clean out the excess stuffage, then apply that to the rent on the storage unit. I would never willingly have a roommate again. The last time was a shared apartment in college, and my roomies left dirty dishes in the sink so long they were covered with mold.
