He says he only sends his guys in to Chicago at times like 4AM, because of the gang violence. He was in favor of syrian immigration, even though he is a Sicilian, and was telling me how hard they were hit. But that was many months ago. If I see him again, I will ream him a new asshole. I never thought of him as a libtard, but if recent facts/events do not change his mind, ugh.

94 @votermom: I personally find idea of She-Hero characters insulting. She-Thor? Why not Frigg, or someone rlse who is actually female in the original panthron?

Aw, don't worry about it. In past years, the Thor power has been passed to an e.t., and for a while Thor was a frog. This is temporary. Just like death, in comics.

Spider-Woman was a pretty good character. Not a riff on Spider-Man but a whole different thing. They do these (e.g. She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, Lady ManThing - I made that one up I think) partly to make sure they can keep active ownership of all the names. IIRC, DC owns the TM on "superhero" and Marvel has "super-hero," or maybe the other way around. Or, I'm making that up, too.

My comic book reading was a long time ago, but I follow the trade enough to know the SJWs and commies dominate right now, like so much else in the unentertainment media. I'd like to believe when the pendulum swings back, it will do so swiftly; Superman and Captain America will be back in full power eventually, for truth, justice, and the American Way. They are more powerful than the writers who would corrupt them.

96 "Happy day after Thanksgiving all. Hope all of you had a great day."

I fled the family room to go set up an intravenous Val-U-Rite drip after I walked in to find someone had turned on the idiot box to the local ABC-Disney affiliate "news".

The local TV news hairdos had a tearjerker puff piece about "the first Thankgsiving in America" for newly arrived Syrian "refugees", being hosted at the home of a Syrian immigrant family, who had laid on a feast with all the trimmings.

Of course neatly and subtly implying in the process that all of these "refugees" will be cared for at private expense within their own ethnic communities here. With nary a mention of the rude reality that well over nine out of ten of these "refugees" will instantly become public charges, will stay that way, and will be exorbitantly expensive public charges at that.

The hairdos then segued into another Thankgiving "news" piece, which was, I kid you not, to read off, one by one, a detailed list of the fancy dishes being served up at the White House Thanksgiving dinner. To let those of us in the serf class know just how high a high life it is that Our Betters are enjoying on our dime.

It's been a long long time since I watched television in anything other than occasional snippets to which I am involuntarily subjected (as on family holiday gatherings), but WTF? When did that become a thing?

Did it come in when Historic First, Mooch, Septicemia and Malaria began to be treated as America's royal family rather than the "first family"? Even during the media's extensive oral servicing of the Clintons in the 1990s, I don't recall things like dinner menus being grandly flourished before the public eye.

One time cost of the Fire Stick + yearly cost of Amazon prime if you want access to their content + free select app content from PBS/FNC/FX and such + Kodi-ish kinda not always not pirating streaming = a bit over $100

vs.

$1000 something per year for cable

For $25 on sale, it's a cheap tech to try. If you don't have Amazon Prime, they have a trial membership.

The Fire Stick is easily hacked. I've done six of them so far. The beauty of messing around with them is they're relatively inexpensive. I wouldn't mess with the built in operating system of a couple hundred dollar tv and brick it in the process.

Exactly. Why not use existing female characters or create new compelling ones?

This is what the left does. It's like they subconsciously realize they are worthless parasites, so the idea of DOING SOMETHING NEW OR INDEPENDENT never occurs to them.

They ALWAYS try to appropriate and destroy some existing thing. They always try to bring existing things down to the lowest common denominator, instead of rising to the challenge of building something new that is just as good as what they think is evil, like a capitalist Western Christian society.

They do not try to rebuild societies that suffer tragedy. They keep trying to re-enact LBJ's great society thing. They are so vile, so stupid. Your observation is just an example of their pathology.

124 Mike Hammer: Next time you are pissed about how slow your internet connection seems to be running, just think about all of the hugely stupid video that is eating up bandwidth.

I always download videos rather than watch them "live." I can watch them repeatedly, or back up a bit if necessary, with the "cost" of just one download. Hate it when I can only watch something streaming.

Of course, since I come from the days of limited memory and 300-baud dialup modems, I am still byte-conservative. Bandwidth is going to keep getting faster & cheaper, I suppose, where streaming will matter less, but I'll probably always download.

Two other advantages of downloading.

If a vid gets yanked from the net, I've still got mine.

And when I use the YouTube downloader program, it doesn't register on my "what you watched" account the way it does when I go to YouTube with a browser. A small victory for privacy, but a victory.

Frustration is not an unfamiliar feeling for anyone whos gone to the DMV, but one San Francisco mans resilience and one clerks impatience resulted in a brawl at the departments office with each using desk supplies as weapons.

Jeremiah Lowery, 29, was acquitted of felony charges in an Aug. 16 fight at the Department of Motor Vehicles branch on Fell Street. Although Lowery was found not guilty of felony counts of assault against two employees he was convicted of misdemeanor assault.

The day of the incident marked Lowerys fifth attempt at getting a California photo identification card. When he reached the counter at the end of the day, he had a war of words with a clerk who told him to fnck off, officials said he told police.

With paperwork in hand, Lowery told police the clerk responded to his small protest by wielding an electric stapler at him. Lowery quickly picked up the clerks monitor as a shield, and started swinging to fend off the original clerk and another who had joined the melee. Next, a security guard entered the mix and grabbed Lowery, who reflexively knocked the guard to the ground with a punch. Thats when a customers began to intervene, jumping on Lowery and choking him. Minutes later, he was arrested.

I'd say ease of set up, plug-configure-play, and flexibility on how you're cabling up everything. Plus the cost of one, on sale, isn't that much more than a good HDMI cable to run from computer to TV.

Posted by: @votermom at November 27, 2015 12:38 PM (cbfNE)

Not hard, but, sadly, not cheap. As things stand now, you have to get a digital video recorder - something which should cost about $20 but anything half-decent costs between $100 and $200. (There are adapters for $20 or $30 but they only do VGA so they aren't worth shit) It will make a video file out of any TV signal you pump through it. The problem is that they only work through component inputs, at best. You will notice that you can't find anything to record HDMI signals because ... HDMI is more of a copy protection scheme than method of cideo transmission. But, you can still get very good resolution through component inputs even though it still isn't quite as good as HDMI. This is also why you can't find any DVD or Blu-Ray recorders that have HDMI inputs for the recording ... because HDMI is all about copy protection.

It would be nice if someone made a little attachment that will take the signal the TV is sending to its own screen and just digitize that but I haven't found anything of the sort - and, again, TVs won't edo it because then they can't have HDMI inputs (the copy protection bullshit).

No, you don't need Prime for it to work. Without Prime, you'd still have access to app content and streaming hacks like Kodi. But, if you're the Netflix type, the Prime content is similar and ease of access to it is an added benefit of having Prime for the free 2 day shipping.

To be specific, I bought an AverMedia HDRecorder. It's pretty decent (though it makes huge files at a middling to good resolution). I record most stuff at 720p. It can record at 1080p but there's a bit of an issue with getting that resolution out of the component outputs and the component input for my TV won't display 1080p ... so ... it's a minor hassle. 720p is a more than decent resolution to save stuff in. I'm sure there are many better recorders out there but this is just to give you an idea to look at.

173 me: And when I use the YouTube downloader program...

Mike Hammer: What do you use?

Strangely enough, "YouTube Downloader."

Annoying in installation because they have "accept/decline" choices that look like you're agreeing to standard usage rules when you're actually agreeing to, like Yahoo toolbars, but once installed, works great for YT, Vimeo, many other sources (including many that - ahem - I don't want).

Pay-for version has a few enhancements I've never felt I needed. They've just added ads showing on the latest upgrade of the free version, but, well, good for the authors yay capitalism, and still free for me.

Excellent. BTW, I forgot to tell you that you might want to look into having a private listing for your web site. If you don't do that then anyone can check the WHOIS and get all the information you filled out to get the web site (a lot of it, at least) but with private registration Namecheap will have their name put up on the WHOIS instead of yours so that no one can get your name and phone number from your domain name.

I just thought you should know this.

200 Bruce With a Wang!: Have great memories of sitting with friends reading each others comic books and trading. A real rite of passage.

I've mentioned this a few times before, but...

1963, visiting California and my cousin brings a comic from some company that didn't get distributed in Oklahoma. "Marvel"? The final issue of a weird-fantasy comic that had a superhero cover story. Unusual tale about a high school nerd who gets super-powers, and uses them not for heroics but for personal gain, with tragic karmic results. Changed my whole idea of what comics could be!

Yeah, Amazing Fantasy #15 starring the first appearance of Spider-Man was right there in my hands in near-mint condition.

Asked cousin if I could keep it (I had just gotten the collecting bug) and he said no. Sad-face.

Years later at a family reunion, I told cousin about this. He didn't remember it, but he said, "Yeah, I probably threw it out the next day."

Heh. All in color for a dime.

Ah WKRP:

Jennifer's chest, Bailey's ass, the incredible urge to yank out Travis' one and only chest hair, the need to go drinking with Fever and shave that stupid afro off of Flytrap.
But mostly the first two.

Ah the good 'ol days.

This is my working theory. Muzzies have the same appeal to white liberal elites as animals.

We are jaded, bored, decadent, blase. We feel existential angst and sbsurdity.

We rnvy animals because they live in the moment. They have innocence, snd do not agonize over things.

I get that. It is appealing. In animals. But in humans, I find it revolting. If you are a human, you need to grow the fuck up and start agonizing.

Correct. Almost none of them actually know or understand Christianity, even if they were one of those guys that went to church when they were young and attended Sunday School yadda yadda.

Given the state of churches, you can die of old age in a church and learn virtually nothing about the Bible, Christ, or theology other than "3 ways to get along with your wife" and "how to feel better about yourself" in far too many congregations.

But that one guy they hate, boy that represents the entire faith in one figure. And when they took that comparative religion class from the Prof that hates Christianity, they learned all about how evil it was!

339 I think it's a good show. But I like Forte. I can see how he is an acquired taste though. Posted by: BurtTC at November 27, 2015 02:13 PM (TOk1P)

I've streamed both seasons now, am up to date with latest episode and I'm still not acquiring the taste. He's like a dog with a bone that just won't give it up sometimes. I hit FF on the remote until he's gone then continue watching.

It's a great premise and I could give the producers thousands of ideas for plots. It just seems like snl sometimes ruins comedians. They continue working as if they're still before a live audience and have to be outrageous or else the scene doesn't work.

342 Active shooter at Colo Springs planned parenthood. Wanna bet this isn't treated as a local story?

This is already all over the place. The MFM will swing into action just ready for an agenda promoting story. Poor protestors in Chicago. No one will care about them any more
