Reading the release from Walmart, it makes it sound like "If you work had and develop skills we will give you a raise"

We need a Constitutionalist version of Soros. Some big Daddy Warbucks who would pay for normal people to go and protest, do petition drives, and otherwise advocate and agitate for a return to government based on our founding document.

Otherwise, they are winning. But once they win too much, things will get...unpleasant. As the aforementioned increase in firearm purchases would indicate.

That's the thing -- if you have good deals the will come no matter what day.

I think the only draw back is that the can move merchandise faster by selling earlier. But, I'm sure the drop in injuries and law suits may compensate. Plus, you can increase hours.

76 CBD, if I may suggest, when the time comes to get the girl brat her own hogleg, get her a S&W Model 60 in .357 Magnum. Of course, use only .38+P loads in it (preferably Winchester Silvertips or Hornady Critical Defense loads), as the recoil will be far more manageable. The weapon will be quite accurate for anything she is likely to ever encounter in a self-defense situation, and it's a well made gun, and fairly easy to conceal.

They had one on earlier in the season where the piano playing guy made fun of a guy carrying a purse. The guy said no, it's a tote. The piano guy kept referring to it as a purse in kind of a mincy sounding voice.
I thought it was hilarious, for a commercial.

That commercial has not been on for the last two weeks. I think it might have offended the wrong people.

100 Costco sells mattresses, but only high end ones.

I hate to give those commies money, but damn they do a good job. I had a friend that rented a car from them that was a third less than the rental co would rent it to him. The rental guy told him he had no idea how Costco got such good prices, prices he had never seen from anywhere else.

146 Concerning IKEA...

For the most part, I buy dish towels and kitchens there. My wife buys glass containers for her florist business because they are cheaper than her wholesalers can provide.

On kitchens, I used IKEA cabinets when I built my son's house. Unless you are going with expensive custom built boxes, IKEA is the way to go. They are exact to the millimeter and have great interchangeability.

In this lake house, I had the choice of doing dark wood and stainless steel or going with white bead board and glass. With IKEA, I was able to do both, by buying another set of doors that can be changed out in a few hours.

Imagine being able to change the look of your kitchen in a morning.

I believe this is the future of cabinets.

Yes. That's about where I am. I haven't read the story, I doubt its veracity by default, but even if he did say something insulting, if he's a f*cking reporter, he probably deserved it. He was probably smugly thinking, "I'm disabled! I'm special! I can do evil things to people and they can't call me out because I'm in a PC class, and if they do I can accuse them of bigotry!"

I just hate these people. Hate, hate hate. Not healthy, but they merit this emotion. I just find it healthier to ignore the NYT altogether. Haven't even seen one in many decades.

Why are people still watching TV? I don't condemn you. To use Christian terminology, this issue is "adiaphora".

Some people must do this, like Vic. Just like in ancient Jewish culture it was accepted that, although touching diseased bodies made you unclean, doctors had to do this and special provisions were made for them.

But if watching TV makes you miserable more often than not, as I discovered a few decades ago, why continue watching it? Just chuck it out, and do netflix. Get what you like and exclude everything else.

188 Dunno if this will still work now that varnish is outlawed

Watco Teak oil -- amazing stuff. Looks like varnish, hard as nails, dries to a cross between semi-gloss and gloss. It seems the gloss is determined by the relative existing smoothness. Stain first, let dry thoroughly, then use. They claim you can just 'wipe on' but I used a fine brush.

Posted by: Lizzy at November 27, 2015 10:45 AM (NOIQH)

Because they are produced by SJW and they believe this is the best way to turn the population's sympathies. The advertising is second. If you doubt this, or wonder about the money, just remember the Mozilla CEO who lost his job because he privately gave money to Prop.8 in Ca. years ago and it was brought to light before the gay marriage fatwah was being issued by the Supreme Court.

Most of these new age companies are totally run by SJW. They will use their company for their own purposes, first and foremost.

Plan on seeing much more of this.

But that is different from some nebulous "GOPe" or "RNCe" intervening in party presidential politics, and that alleged intervention being used to justify that the eventual candidate shouldn't have to get a majority of delegates at the convention to be nominated. Ironic, given that back in the '60's and '70's, "black" was the new, politically-correct self-chosen descriptor for afro-Americans, intended to replace the oh-so-rayciss "Negro". Huey Newton is now a rayciss for advocating for "Black Power"? How quaint.

214 My condolences, BB.

I had quite a few Ikea pieces when I was in my 20's. That's sort of the prime age group for Ikea - people who have moved out on their own and need furniture. You can't yet afford really nice stuff but you're past college-age milk cartons and boards and bricks and taped posters on the walls decorating. Ikea's stuff is cute and cheap so you don't have to depend on Goodwill for your furniture. When you can finally afford to replace it with something of better quality (much of my "good" furniture consists of great finds at estate sales) you can put the Ikea stuff out on the curb without feeling guilty.

Ikea stuff can look stylish, but often putting it together was baffling. Their instructions are minimal and I remember there was always something off. Too many screws or bolts left out, edges weren't exactly flush, the end tables wobbled - and even boyfriends who were far more handy than I was couldn't get things just right because the furniture wasn't well made. At least I knew not to buy a bed from them - do that and you're stuck buying only their sheets and bedding for as long as you have the bed because their beds are euro sizes and American sized sheets won't fit them.

I've never had Ikea faux-wood stuff that didn't fit together, and I've almost never had missing fasteners, but you have to prep all the parts - make sure the holes you put the dowels in are clear, etc - and if you want it to be solid (i.e. not able to be taken apart) you have to plan on gluing and sometimes adding extra fasteners.

The metal stuff is often junk but there's a few gems.

The kitchen cabinets are surprisingly good if you take your time assembling them (of course if you're paying a contractor to assemble them you're not saving anything), very good doors and hardware, cheap boxes. The hardboard backs are crap, and ideally you want to run off some 3/16 or 1/4 ply to replace them.

convention to be nominated. That's just too much a stretch. Are you
saying that the delegates should vote for a candidate who doesn't
command a majority? Wouldn't that be worse? How exactly would that work,
anyway?

Posted by: Caesar North of the Rubicon at November 27, 2015 10:53 AM (5f5bM)

The specific rule I was referring to is this:
RULE NO. 11
Candidate Support
(a) The Republican National Committee shall not, without the prior written and filed approval of all members of the Republican National Committee from the state involved, contribute money or in- kind aid to any candidate for any public or party office of that state except the nominee of the Republican Party or a candidate who is unopposed in the Republican primary after the filing deadline for that office. In those states where state law establishes a non-partisan primary in which Republican candidates could participate, but in which the general election may not include a Republican candidate, the candidate endorsed by a convention held under the authority of the state Republican Party shall be recognized by the Republican National Committee as the Republican nominee.
Specific instances that are the most egregious are Mookow in AK and Thad Cockcran in Mississippi. Those come immediately to mind. I am sure with a little research we can find a lot more.

Hell, about half of my furniture is Ikea. But I stuck with the solid wood stuff. Even then, it's still kind of light, sometimes you have to glue things to give it some extra oomph. If I had kids, I'd avoid the Ikea furniture, they'd tear it apart.

But lots of the accessories are nice. My pots/pans are all Ikea and I'm extremely happy with them.

Best thing is that last weekend I bought one of their smaller kitchen islands and I'm getting that set up as my reloading bench. The construction appears to be sturdy enough to handle my Lyman turret press with no problem. Not bad for $60.

No offense meant. No doubt there are good people there. When I snark about govt agencies I mean it in the same way when I snark about the country in general: the top leadership is completely vile, and there are good people underneath who are not to blame. Like the veterans with the VA or the army cadets forced to wear high heels.

I'm angry that horrible people have managed to float to the highest levels and dictate the policies, and are complete sociopaths. I apologize if I gave offense, except if one of your relatives is someone like Harf, who is a former CIA analyst.
