A city council in Knoxville, Iowa bowed to pressure from an atheist to remove a veteran's memorial that depicted a cross as a buried soldier's headstone. They caved and had it removed. The Christian majority of that city had placed 2,000 crosses all over town. The day after the spineless council had the memorial removed, the good citizens of Knoxville removed them in an election. Two were voted out -- they only got 15% of the vote.

Based on the complaint of a single citizen of Knoxville, Iowa, the anti-Christian group Americans United for Separation of Church and State swooped down on the city with a threatening letter, demanding that the town council remove a temporary display to veterans that had been placed in the city's Young Park. Because the display consisted of a silhouette of a kneeling soldier and a cross, the anti-Christian group claimed that the cross violated the separation of church and state and that it amounted to the city endorsing Christianity.

I was watching CNN a bit this morning, and the French Senator Nathalie Goulet was on, live.

Her twitter description says this: I -heart- Nesfeh Jahan Senator vice-chairwoman of the foreign affairs committee,head of the investigation committee on jihadism,head of France-GCC friendship group

I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

She acknowledged that they (the French) were ashamed to call the Islamic extremists out by name, and the Salafists, and now they were not. That it was a mistake to not call them out before.

She said if you cannot define the enemy, you can not fight them... (sound familiar?)

[b[She said the imams in mosques were the root of the problem!

And she said they need to kick out all of these foreigners, foreign enemies, like the imams!

The CNN talking empty head pushed her (I don't think she liked what she heard because in a not-so-subtle way, it smashed the obama and the democrat talking points all to heck, so she asked her to clarify, asking her about "citizens" of France being thrown out of the country. The Senators said, no, not citizens. The foreigners...

She said they needed better information gathering, databases, etc. and better intelligence.

The other critical thing she said is they have to figure out why/how that many of the converts to muslim were Christians. I think she said 40% of them were Christian converts. I don't get that either.

I am certain that the Israeli security services have hundreds or thousands of individuals under surveillance but they do not imprison them because of various laws. What if they were to sneak into their homes, drug the entire family and then drop them off with Syrian passports in Greece? Who would believe them when they say that I went to sleep in my bed in Ramadi or Bethlehem or wherever and I woke up on this beach on a Greek Island?

In the mean time, Israel could accept Syrian Christians to move into the empty houses. Goes to a question of national character. Traditionally, Americans were always self-reliant, and it doesn't get more self-reliant than defending your home and family with your own firearms, while Europeans were dependent on the government for protection.

I personally have an ethnic cleansing sort of theory that we traditionally attracted people from all over the world who wanted to achieve and who didn't want to be old what to do, and that this is what made us great. The change in the composition of the immigrant populations means that isn't so true any more. And, of course, there was one large population that was brought here against their wills, and they were the ones who got captured and sold by other tribes and Arabs, and many of them have had a hard time with the self-reliance ethos. I don't know about the PWS MK116 in particular but piston type AR 15 variants are purported to be popular among SOF types. Certainly, I do not believe that .223/5.56 is excessive for home defense. From what I have read, 9mm FMJ is more likely to overpenetrate into your neighbor's house and plenty of people have 9mm pistols for self defense. If you are particularly worried about overpenetration, keep the magazine loaded with hollow points.
Savage also has a good reputation for very accurate rifles at reasonable prices.

Anyone with even a passing knowledge of the quran knows that it teaches over and over that Muslims are superior to non-Muslims (i.e., infidels), that Muslims should avoid associating with non-Muslims, that Muslims have a duty to subjugate and kill infidels, that Muslims who do their duty will be richly rewarded in heaven and become martyrs, that Muslims who do not do their duty will not be entitled to the same heavenly wealth.

A Burnsville DFLer's campaign for the state House abruptly ended Sunday morning within hours of him posting on social media that ISIS "isn't necessarily evil" and is "made up of people doing what they think is best for their community."

The Twitter posting Saturday by Dan Kimmel, coming as the world's emotions remain raw from Friday's terror attacks on Paris, brought swift rebuke from others on Twitter. House Minority Leader Paul Thissen, DFL-Minneapolis, called for Kimmel to give up his campaign.

"I'm folding up the campaign tent," Kimmel told the Star Tribune. He later issued a written apology and called his tweet "stupid," adding that it's probably best for him to "shut up" for the time being.
