The House will break for its August recess on July 15 under a 2016 schedule released on Tuesday. The 2016 calendar released by Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) shows the House will be in session for fewer days to allow candidates more time in their home districts to prepare for November's elections.
The traditional August recess will be a seven-week break from Washington longer than the five weeks the House took this year and in 2014. The House also plans to be out of session for the entire month of October. They won't return until Nov. 14, a week after Election Day.
Many members of Congress are also to take time off to attend to attend the Republican and Democratic presidential nominating conventions in July.

An Arizona man was in jail after he allegedly left his 5-year-old daughter alone in the desert with a loaded and cocked 45-caliber handgun, and told her "shoot any bad guys."
Maricopa County authorities say 53-year-old Paul Armand Rater of Buckeye is being held on suspicion of two counts of child abuse and one count of child endangerment.
Rater took his granddaughter for a ride in his new pickup early Sunday afternoon in the desert outside Buckeye, about 30 miles from Phoenix, but it got stuck. Rater says he left the girl under a tree with the pistol when she couldn't walk anymore. He couldn't call for help because he had left his cell phone at home.
Rater was found at a restaurant where he had a couple of beers and a cheeseburger, according to the sheriff's office. "He says his vehicle broke down so he walked several miles to get to this bar," said Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio. "But he went there to drink! Not to get help."
A helicopters spotted the girl and she was returned to her mother. State child welfare authorities reportedly were alerted to the case.

There could have been some conflict there, with Jar Jar wanting to keep the Sith under cover but Palpatine agitating for ultimate control of the galaxy. I'm liking this season more than Season 1.
There's been tension and bad decisions from the get-go. Season 1 took about 3.5 episodes before it really got going.
I'm not sure Kristin Dunst is gonna get it. Probably, her poor "deeply in love with his wife and just wants a good job to support a family and a normal life" husband is the one to take the dirt nap. Probably, during KD's "seminar".
With KD seeing just how empty her life has become.
With his wife dying of cancer, I think the Sheriff is going to fight hard to keep the whole town from getting caught up in the bloodbath.
It's the only fight for life that he has any "control" over.
Liking this season a lot.

Let's remember the SF Sheriff's seat has a history of being held by oddballs. Otherwise the SF election seems to have been business as usual. An Arizona man was in jail after he allegedly left his 5-year-old
daughter alone in the desert with a loaded and cocked 45-caliber
handgun, and told her "shoot any bad guys."

on suspicion of two counts of child abuse and one count of child

Oh, definitely. I have no issues sending my girls alone to the bathroom, but I make sure my younger son (5) is always with his older brother.
My girls have never seen a grown man's penis, which is as it should be. I know some parents are all "hey let's walk around naked in front of our kids" but we are decidedly NOT those parents.
Even just taking down the "girls" vs "boys" signs is upsetting for kids. They did this at an icecream shop we go to in Austin and my poor daughter who is a little anxious by nature was very, very concerned.

My big problem though is with Issue 2 passing. That's the "ban monopolies" issue. Which read like a whiny bitchfest by the state government to nullify the weed issue if it did pass. Because it banned "monopoly, oligopoly, or a cartel." I doubt they needed that on the ballot to actually beat the weed vote. But there were going to be 10 producers of pot in the state. I bet there are a lot of other businesses where there aren't 10 producers of a product in a state hell the entire country.
And is 10 the magic number? Because I bet cable companies are really close in that number for ohio, and they've usually got a local monopoly anyways. What about power companies?

Does anyone give these parents honest information about what their child is signing up to do? The suicide rate for people who transition is very high, because transitioning was a symptom, not a cure. The percentage of people who regret their transition is also very high. There used to be a very vigorous process of mental health evaluation for transitioning--it took years, but, I think now if you try to get to their main issue or dissuade them in any way--you get labeled a h8tr and sued. This has to be true because children and teens are transitioning at what seems to be a high rate and there has not been enough time to really evaluate someone at those ages.
But, what do I know, I am just an old h8tr from way back.

Yeah, this is going to be something that affects every spouse/parent/grandparent --- having to contemplate their loved ones enduring an exhibitionist at the gym, or much, much worse. I think may well lead to civil disobedience, such as that HS where the student walked out because one boy who wore a wig was demanding use of women's facilities. They knew it was bs.
I imagine that gyms, golf/tennis/swimming clubs, and public swimming pools and beaches will see an exodus of people who just do not want to put up with that crap.
Seriously, why work out at, say, Gold's gym if there's a male member who regularly uses the women's locker room? You don't need to put up with that crap, such as having to reschedule workouts to avoid him (especially after a long day at work)? So maybe first you'll just shower at home, but then realize what's the point of a membership if you're not using the showers, saunas, etc.?

There were 22 Honor Flight vets there. Turns out, they were all from Savannah.

I wonder if part of the reason for the high post-transformation suicide rate is because there is just no way to actually become the opposite gender.
Renee Richards wrote a piece saying s/he felt depressed and considered suicide after his/her surgeries, because s/he realized that the surgeries didn't actually transform him into a woman. He was just a surgically-altered man, wearing women's clothing and taking hormones.
What's going to happen to all these "transgender" kids when they realize that changing genders is just a fantasy? They're still going to be whatever gender they were born, they'll just be play-acting at being the opposite (and very few people will be fooled by their act). That has to be a pretty miserable prospect for anybody who legitimately thinks they're in the "wrong" body.

And of course... it doesn't... if you were unlovable before the surgery, you will be unlovable after... it does NOT change your personality...

I've moved around a bit in the past few years. Cancelling a gym membership is a crap shoot. My favorite move of theirs is when they assure you your membership is cancelled, then they continue billing you. Then you have to beg them to give you your money back over the course of a dozen or so phone calls.
Confirmation email you're cancelled? What's that? Our system doesn't allow us to do that. Cancel on the website? Huh? You've got to call customer service to do that. Oh, and if you announce you're recording the call, our policy is to hang up.

Nope. I was as pleasant as can be. My shoes set off the metal detector, I removed them, and then was made to go through the body scanner, plus pat-down.
At Regan National, I wore suede ankle boots, and the same thing happened. After I stepped through the detector, barefoot, a buzzer went off that I had been "selected for random screening." Right behind a 4-5 y.o. little girl.

You don't get off the list, apparently.
You have to submit all sorts of documentation to get a special TSA number that you then provide every time to book and fly. And you can never get a boarding pass in advance - must always get it at the airport, on the day of travel, after providing ID and the TSA ID#.

We've had surprisingly good luck w/TSA at DIA. It's only been at places like Boston and Hartford where we get manhandled, and our then 8 mos. old son called out for extra pat-down, etc.

We've had surprisingly good luck w/TSA at DIA. It's only been at places like Boston and Hartford where we get manhandled, and our then 8 mos. old son called out for extra pat-down, etc.

I then cut my hair for business reasons... and have pretty consistently been searched every time since then...

My guess was the little town of 100 people which had to accept 300 plus refugees was a town possibly largely composed of older people. There's nothing like a set of crisp, clean linen sheets. The ironing doesn't take too long, but it helps if you have a professional steam iron setup.

They're trying to strike down community standards here in Texas. You know, the rules that say "hey we don't want any multi family housing within our city limits" and that sort of thing.
Obviously, if successful, this will result in a Section 8 invasion, but it's more insidious than that.
If it passes the government can build a whole slew of multi family housing to house our Syrian "refugees".

This was the days before permanent press fabric. Bed linens needed ironing. After perma-press came along, all my Mom ironed was pillowcases. Grandma eventually did the same. I use silk pillowcases so I don't iron them.

As a practical matter, such an abomination would cause an unbelievable flight to cash. They would have to eliminate cash to do it right.
To be clear, negative rates means savers (and depositors!) must pay, while borrowers get paid to borrow.

Sometimes the cheaper sheets use good material but have a low Thread Count,
so they turn out not so great.
I've seen some on Amazon like that with Egyptian cotton.

So they pay the price of negative rates in return for "safety." Even though I think "government" and "safety" are mutually exclusive, the big boys don't. For them, they may be right.

Here's where we're having the disconnect, I think.
I'm not speaking towards their assimilation or anything like that. I'm talking more along family structures, gender roles, public behavior amongst themselves, and regard for types of work deemed acceptable for whichever gender. So a male can be a mechanic or roofer, but not a nurse, etc. A man is expected to marry the girl he knocked up though that is not always followed up on. Oh, I think you can certainly tell the difference when the sheets are below 250 -200 thread count - I bought some really cheap sheets in college, 180 count, and they were scratchy.
However, I've seen sheets advertised as 1000 per inch thread count - how much of a difference can there be between 500 and 800 and 1000 count, unless the sheets are made from threads of angel spit or something.

Feh, maybe someone with a better feel for contemporary Germany can chime in, but I've been assuming they will - on the whole - just take it (this vandalism against their country and ultimately, their culture). Western Europe ("Old Europe") seems unlikely to offer more than belated and ineffective resistance (it's happening, but meh).
The passivity and lack of individual sovereignty in Europe is of course the norm, for the most part, for many years.
Something that used to seem very alien and foreign to Americans.
Now look around and marvel at what huge % of "Americans" now are essentially no better than the sheep of Europe. Much of this occurring in our lifetiemes (that is, fairly recently).
