Drunk driver crashes through the wall of a house killing one teen and injuring another who were watching TV. I have often thought about this myself as I live at the edge of a curve and occasionally we get drunks ripping up and down the street not realizing it is a dead end road despite the sign that says dead end road at the corner.

On the Russian passenger plane crash:
According to people with knowledge of the investigation, the remains of the plane's tail section, which had been damaged in a 2001 accident, were found several miles away from the front fuselage and cockpit. In addition, the bodies of several victims were discovered a significant distance from the main debris field, said the people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the inquiry. Meanwhile, this: Thank You, John Boehner by Suhail A. This year, a record low 52 fires were reported in Detroit over the three-day "Angels Night" period starting Oct. 29 and ending at midnight on Halloween. The 52 total is down from 97 last year and a far cry from the nightmarish days of the 1980s, when the tradition took root and hundreds of suspicious fires roared throughout the city. In 1984, there where 801 fires, which is the record. This years record low follows years of decline thanks to an all-out campaign by city officials to marshal volunteers, enforce a curfew and have a large presence of police and fire fighters. During the past four years, the annual number of fires during the three days hovered between 93 and 97. This year, more than 4,000 volunteers patrolled the streets while 400 police officers were deployed as well as extra Fire Department personnel, city officials said. Prior to the Angels Night period, police towed 380 abandoned vehicles. Only two vehicle fires were set during the Angels Night period. http://tinyurl.com/pqznwlo So, actual enforcement of the law encourages "youths" to behave? Tres suprise. The Russian airline whose jet crashed in Egypt killing everyone on board said on Monday the crash could not have been caused by technical faults or human error.
The crash, in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, could only have been the result of some other "technical or physical action" which caused it to break up in the air and then plummet to the ground, said Alexander Smirnov, deputy general director of the airline, Kogalymavia. "The plane was in excellent condition," Smirnov told a news conference in Moscow. "We rule out a technical fault and any mistake by the crew," he said. ???? I get it now. When you post a comment it stamps it with the real time but the blog sorts the comments by the stamped time and some comments are stamped in the future so they'll keep showing up until real time catches up to their stamped time.

A favorite theme of democrats is that Richard Nixon engaged in a racist 'southern strategy' in order to win election.
The actual truth of the matter is that the introduction of air conditioning in the early 50's suddenly made the southern states tolerable year round. A massive exodus of predominantly white republicans to the south created a transfer of nearly 30 electoral votes from the north to the south. But a lie spreads around the world before the truth has a chance to put its shoes on. Posted by: se pa moron at November 02, 2015 07:38 AM (7v/r5) 110

Yeah, the last funny Doonesbury was sometime in 1979 - Uncle Duke and Jann Wenner at Elaine's.
Quit reading it later that year. Only newspaper comic I read these days is Dilbert, and that only on those rare occasions a newspaper presents itself at some point in the day when I have a moment to examine it. Calling a modern newspaper fishwrap does a disservice to both fish and the concept of wrapping. Still useful for starting up a woodstove, however. /rant Posted by: sock_rat_eez at November 02, 2015 07:49 AM (erRNA) 167

Morning, 'rons and 'ronettes. Here's a story I found over the weekend: I'm sure you know Kirk Douglas' son Michael, but not too many people knowhis son Eric, whose talent, sadly, was drug addiction (he died of an overdose in 2004). Eric attempted a show business career, but never achieved the success of Kirk and Michael. Sometime in the early 2000s, Eric began a stand-up comedian gig, but, as with his other show business endeavors, it never amounted to much. What made his brief career legend, however, was a night at an obscure London club. Douglas was bombing, badly, and was heckled mercilessly by the audience. Unable to stand it any longer, he yelled, "Don't you know who the fuck I am? I'm the son of Kirk Douglas!" There was silence. Then a man at a table stood up and said, "No. I am the son of Kirk Douglas!" Another man stood up. "I am the son of Kirk Douglas!" And then table after table stood, all riffing off the final scene of Kirk Douglas' Spartacus. It was, effectively, the end of Eric's attempt at comedy. Hope you all have a wonderful day. When you pull a gun on someone, you do so in the knowledge you might have to use it. At best.
Some pull a gun because it gives them a thrill. They know the odds of anyone shooting THEM is small. Which is why more concealed carry needs to be promoted. Finally got mine. Fun fact: in PA 1 in 14 have a carry license. National average is 1 in 50. Florida has the most licensees at about 1.3 million and PA has just over a Million and that was in 2011. So bump the numbers up. That's because in PA: A. you need a carry license to have a loaded weapon in a car. B. you need a carry license or you have to be traveling on a direct route to a hunting area, a range or a gunsmith. C. There's more country than city in PA Don't believe for a minute that because PA elected a Dem for Gov. that it's Blue. We got screwed by the GOP putting up a dope for Governor and then doubling down. Outside of philly, harrisburg, allentown and pittsburgh the country is mostly conservative. but the cities swing the state. Not next year though I think. ___________________ The DOJ sues them, just like it sued AZ for trying to enforce immigration laws. There are some federal laws you're free to flout (e.g., immigration laws, benefit fraud laws, voter laws, etc.), and some you're not. If you're unsure, just ask yourself: would a far-left loon support this law? If the answer is yes, then you'll be prosecuted by the feds if you violate it. @281 Well see that's the problem. That's why we need national gun confiscation laws because if someone in Chicago wants a gun, all they have to do is drive to Gary Indiana and buy one. Most cases, they don't even have to do that. Someone in Gary will buy guns and take them to Chicago to sell on the street. So if you can't buy guns anywhere, that problem would be solved. See? It's kinda like pot except everyone agrees that smoking pot does no harm, unlike guns what kill people. Posted by: Hayfield Volkovski at November 02, 2015 08:45 AM (hZrhT) 301

However Anna it does say something about the insular nature of Japanese culture that Japanese men will build sexaroids instead of importing cheap Filipino and Vietnamese girls to do the jobs Japanese women won't do. I know you're joking, but I really believe much of the driving force for a sexbot is that is represents everything a man wants in a sexual partner - no wrinkles, no loose flab, no smell, perfectly formed breasts, vajayjay and squeakhole, and, most of all, an absolute inability to say "no" to any request. Which, of course, will all change with the advent of AI, when the sexbots will all be like the one I came across in a story (can't remember the name and won't try to google at work): a man takes in a 'bot for testing; the sales pitch is that it will respond to whatever you like best and eagerly agree to do that. So the man performs an act, sighs "that was the best!" and suddenly is confronted with a 'bot that only will perform that act, and insists on a continual performance, since, as the man said it was the best, it must be what he wants all the time. The story ends with the man trying to sneak an e-mail off to the company, begging them to take the 'bot back before she shtups him to death. Of course a fake ID is trivial to fake but they do check your Driver's license when they do a back ground check. Just like when you get stopped for a traffic violation. All that is checked besides the FBI NCIS database for felons, ex-felons and fugitives listed. You can't just walk across the border and buy a gun. You have to violate a whole bunch of laws and get away with it to do so. The Pols know this but they won't mention it when complaining about other cities being responsible for their gun problem. And it's not really a gun problem, it's a criminal problem. And that criminality is mostly located in a few areas and perpetrated predominantly by a few certain "ethnicities" and or cultures. But then someone would say that's racist or profiling. The way to monkeywrench the gun laws is to get a State, say Idaho, to form a militia. Membership is open to any US citizen who pays a fee, has a clean record, etc. Then the State issues you a select fire M4. The fee being more than the cost of the M4.

Posted by: Village Idiot's Apprentice at November 02, 2015 08:36 AM (VPLuQ) Enforcement of the law is a state level thing. I expect the business owners involved would lose everything and go to jail. I would also expect the city council to run and hide under the furniture when called on it by the state AG. (That is based on my local government, by the way, not out of knowledge of Hagerstown MD) Sanctuary cities is done on the local level but ignoring the laws is condoned by the state and feds. SF is only allowed to be a sanctuary city because all the bureaucrats responsible for enforcing the applicable laws, regulations and policies, or imposing sanctions and warnings are wringing their hands and clutching their peals and theatrically moaning, "If only there were someone tasked and paid to do something about this!" The feds have no problem stepping in and enforcing local laws if they pertain to firearms. LA has been a sanctuary city going as far back as 79. Reagan didn't do anything about it, both the Bush clowns didn't do anything about it. @311 Yeah sure. But the name. It means "murderer."
"Jook" was a gullah word, meaning "disorderly." Backwoods social establishments were jook joints. The music was pretty damn good, and got named for the source. Then a record-playing machine offered up such music, and there you go. Then, the American battle cry "Let's rock and roll" probably originated in the contract for full-automatic carbines held by the Rock-Ola company. Eleven out of twenty three state health insurance co-ops (the so-called "public option" plans) have closed their doors due to insolvency since the beginning of 2015, seven of them in the month of October. Guess what? Cities have lots of people in them. And areas with lots of people have more votes, because more people. Consider a rural county that has 10 square miles, 100 cows, and 10 people. You know how many votes they have? The answer is 10. Then there's a city that has 10 square miles, no cows, and 100,000 people. You know how many votes they have? 100,000. It's not a conspiracy.
