Quote of the Day I

First of all, the fact that there was even a need for a law such as this demonstrates just how far off the beam we've gone as a country. The actions of several liberal enclaves around the nation and the permissive attitude of the White House toward them has brought us to the point where a state had to pass a law saying, in essence, that it's against the law to break the law. That is, quite frankly, insane. If we had a hand on the tiller in Washington which wasn't willing to effectively hamstring the immigration services by turning a blind eye to states and cities which choose to flaunt the law, none of this would be needed.

-- Jazz Shaw

Quote of the Day II

The enemy of the Jew becomes the enemy of the world. That simple, albeit mysterious, historical rule has been repeatedly demonstrated. Regimes and ideologies that target Jews never stop there; they are imperialistic by nature, and begin by identifying the "other" - and Jews have been the quintessential other - and move on to target ever-larger circles.

So why is there not more sympathy for the Jewish people? Among the thousand theories perhaps there is no improving on Maurice Samuel's simple declaration: "No one loves their alarm clock." Jews have been the disturbers of the world's sleep. Long before the Western world knew it was fighting a battle with radical Islam, Jews knew. That realization brought them more indifference or contempt than affection.

-- Rabbi David Wolpe

Quote of the Day III

We are born immortal, as far as we know at the time, and slowly we learn that we are going to die. For most children, death is not fully understood until after the first decade of life - a remarkable amount of time to comprehend the most basic truth of our existence.

-- Vaughn Bell

Quote of the Day IV - Am I Raping You Now Edition

Consent from the person you are kissing - or more - is not merely silence or a lack of protest, Shafia Zaloom, a health educator at the Urban School of San Francisco, told the students. They listened raptly, but several did not disguise how puzzled they felt. "What does that mean - you have to say 'yes' every 10 minutes?" asked Aidan Ryan, 16, who sat near the front of the room. "Pretty much," Ms. Zaloom answered. "It's not a timing thing, but whoever initiates things to another level has to ask.

RIP Fred Thompson

Fred Thompson, a former U.S. senator for Tennessee, GOP presidential candidate, Watergate attorney and longtime "Law and Order" star, died on Sunday. He was 73.

Mr. Thompson died after a recurrence of lymphoma, according to a statement issued by the Thompson family.

"It is with a heavy heart and a deep sense of grief that we share the passing of our brother, husband, father, and grandfather who died peacefully in Nashville surrounded by his family," the statement reads.

Welcome to Barack Obama's Syrian War

Or that you have to scratch your head and think about whether you should prefer IS, or the Russian-backed Assad regime

...Trick question, of course: you should prefer neither. You should prefer the one people in the region who actually like Americans, who can conduct ground operations on their own*, and who are busily putting together a for-real, legitimate, and reasonably free and democratic nation-state. But God forbid that Barack Obama ever listen to anybody who isn't him. Ever.

One last note: the fact that I even had to write out 'Russian-backed Assad regime' should act as an endlessly-full Reservoir of Shame for every idiot in the current administration who managed to get us in this mess. It won't - they're all too busy blaming George W Bush, despite the fact that he knew how to win wars and Barack Obama largely does not - but it should. And maybe some day they'll learn better.

The Toxicity of Social Justice Tumblr

Wherein SJWs drove an artist to attempting suicide over the following 'crimes':

  • "Drew an Indian character purposely with a smaller nose twice";
  • "Reacted to being called out for antiblack art stating she can draw what she wants";*
  • "Drew the 'boys in dresses are funny' trope";
  • "Drew genderbents";**
  • "Ships murderer x victim"***

Sonny Bunch summarizes the whole auto-da-fé here:

You really should read the whole thing, but the short version is this: A fan artist (that is, someone who draws images of fictional characters for fun) faced mountains of criticism for creating "problematic" depictions of characters for a popular cartoon show beloved for its commitment to diversity. The criticism was so monumental and so withering that she (allegedly) tried to kill herself. The creators of the show also found themselves drawing fire after they defended the fan artist's right to create fan art without being bullied to death.

...You get the idea. After the show's creators came to the aid of the bullied fan artist-saying, in effect, that no one should be driven to suicide by jerks on the Internet because they drew a fat character slightly thinner-SJW Tumblr turned on them, attacking older works of art and labeling the creators pedophile apologists, or something.

...This isn't the mindset of a group of fans or even a group of social critics. This is the mindset of a mob. And a mob only knows how to do one thing: burn shit down.

Thanks to WHO Report California May Require Bacon, Coffee To Carry 'Prop 65' Cancer Warnings

The meat industry, which disputes the findings of the cancer study, says courts have been clear that Proposition 65 conflicts with federal policy on meat labeling at stores.

California officials say it's not clear how courts would approach warnings on processed meats. Legal precedent cited by the beef industry, including an 2009 state appellate ruling, dealt with fresh meats, not processed products.
Starbucks and other big name coffee chains are being sued in California in a bid to get them to label their coffee products as containing a carcinogen. A non-profit is claiming that because of the levels of acrylamide in these chains' coffee consumers need to be warned.

...Stanley Omaye, a professor of nutrition and toxicology at the University of Nevada, US, says the coffee companies have the stronger case. 'Based on the animal studies, you would have to drink probably over 100 cups of coffee a day in order to get to that dangerous dose, so it is totally absurd,' he tells Chemistry World.

Why Lena Dunham is New York's Fault

You look at this squirrelly self-satisfied jelly roll and her mediocre talent and her bold literary tales of fingering her little sister and wonder who the hell is backing her? It's New York. In certain parts of the city, the parts that matter in terms of media influence, she is invoked like Jesus at a Huckabee family reunion. New Yorkers love to hype their multicultural international immigrant United Colors of Benetton We Pals PBS melting pot. It's all bullshit. New York is a roughly assembled federation of disparate clans the whitest and most assuredly self-righteous among them adoring Lena Dunham as cutting edge and fresh. Smell her. That's not fresh.

...New York, this is on you. Tokyo took Godzilla even if they did kind of blame the U.S. nukes. Own up. Line up the model tanks. Take out your monster.

And it's no knock on Shaw, but saying a law is needed to require that laws be followed shows lack of a "hand on the tiller" in the Beltway is sort of like saying "personal freedoms are limited in North Korea".

Not the only one, but I've been ceaselessly repeating for several years that lawlessness is the most important of all the civic poisons. We have most versions now in the US - oddly, probably a cultural and inertial thing, we still have a very low level of petty corruption/abuse compared to most societies in human history. Like the "mordita" from a Mexican federale on Baja 1 as you drive south, that sort of thing. Or the routine corruption that is ingrained in the simplest govt. mechanisms in most Third World and authoritarian hellholes.

But we've got all the others, and given the collapse they represent from prior norms, they're doozies. The collapse of divided power per the constitution, WRT the executive and Congress, could actually be fixed overnight (an opposition party is required), but the courts as unaccountable legislatures is a tougher one. (I like calling the SCOTUS the "Council of Experts", a la the Iranian islamofascist politburo, and the odious comparison, astonishingly has specific and plausible basis of late, e.g. Kennedy's hilarious 14th amendment vomitus on marriage redefinition).

Oh well, back to cleaning up my friend's CZ 27.

Just finished re-'reading' (audiobook this time) 'A Savage War of Peace' - the end result of which, of course, is that De Gaulle bails on Algeria and the Jews, who'd mostly supported the Muslims against the French, are surprised to find themselves literally kicked to the curb.

Ethnic cleansing, to be sure, but at least they weren't butchered like the Muslims who'd backed the French.

But she was sweet and nice and lovely and kind and I count it as one of my better sexual encounters; I'd sleep with her again in a heartbeat if I wasn't married.

Years ago, I worked with a bookkeeper who would literally make me wince when I looked at her -- slightly puffy, hair somewhat stringy, blotchy pale skin, voice like fingernails on a blackboard. As I came to work with her, though, I realized she was a total sweetheart -- she'd be working at the office at 1 am because the client needed his financials in the morning and the month's transactions were totally screwed-up. She'd remember everyone's birthdays. You could trust that she'd done everything possible to give you something you could rely on -- and she'd always come to you in advance with questions about any place she wasn't sure to go.

So, I'd get to talking to her and find out that she's doing all this as a single mom whose teenaged daughter has been giving her a ton of attitude while the flake dad egged her on (met daughter -- there was evidence to support this interpretation) -- even to the point where the fights got her evicted from her apartment.

Her daughter would be in her 40s now -- I wonder if she's even alive. I remember teaching her about how people short-of-time clean things (hint: f*** the environment).

Frankly, I think this is bullshit. Substitute "Muslim" or "German" or "Marxist" or whatever. No culture, no ethnicity, no nationality deserves unconditional approval or support. Jews have pulled their share of shit in the world, just like everybody else. (A case in point: the Holodomor, which killed more people than the Holocaust, was implemented by Genrick Yagoda - who was a Jew - and the NKVD, which he founded, and the leadership of which was heavily Jewish. (Sound like anti-Semitic bullshit? See http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3342999,00.html).

I think his point is less "yay Jews" and more "Jews are the canary in the coal mine." No, they are two different and distinct cities, that share the same name.

Kansas City, Mo. is bigger. The Royals stadium shares the same parking area and is right next to ArrowHead Stadium, home of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Right next to I-70.

From the tenor of this piece I bet the author would dispute that contention. Jews not only implemented the Holodomor, but financed the slave trade. Again, sound like bullshit? Who finances things now? Hugh Thomas's book "The Slave Trade" details the financing of the slave trade by Iberian conversos (Jews who had been "encouraged" to convert by the Inquisition).

I'm not anti-Semitic, but not pro-Semitic, either. I try to view things as they are. Jews have historically been victimized in Europe because they were a small minority who held themselves distinct from the rest of the population, and thus were prime candidates to be made into scapegoats. That, without more, does not make them uniquely virtuous. Compare, for example, the Kurds in Iraq/Turkey/Syria, or the Armenians in Turkey. Being made a victim does not, by itself, mean one was/is virtuous. One has to be in a position to be a bastard, and refrain from that temptation, to earn consideration in that connection.

391 SA-2 is a fixed SAM site. Vietnam era. Radar guided.
SA-6 is a mobile SAM on a wheeled carrier but still requires radar like the SA-2. Both platforms would be prime targets for the F-16CJs to kill.

MANPADs like SA-7 and SA-14, the A-10 is designed to survive. One A-10A took a MANPAD hit in a wing that destroyed two of three wing-spars, Fairchild only designed for the loss of one wing-spar. Still managed to RTB and was repaired to fight again. Engines are placed where they so the tail surfaces themselves shield the exhaust from ground based heat-seekers while preventing FOD in rough field conditions.

Titanium tub pilot sits in can survive 37mm strikes. Windscreen can survive 23mm hits. Fuel tanks have a rubberized liner like in WWII to make them self-sealing, in the F-16 the wing and fuselage structure itself are the fuel tanks so a hit means leakage. And the A-10 has mechanical flight controls to further reduce chance of aircraft loss, unlike the F-105's hydraulics where both primary systems ran side by side on the underside exposed to any kind of shrapnel damage.

The Precision Engagement upgrades and other modifications the A-10 fleet just went through also helps lesson the threat to the A-10C fleet. Self protection systems were automated along with a digital cockpit. Improved data-link so the A-10 pilot can better share data with other assets. Four wing stations were wired to carry every smart munition in inventory.

So am a bit less concerned about A-10s than the F-16s when it comes to a hostile environment.

Do Jews in Europe know that TODAY? It's not hard to find plenty of Jews in Europe today who still promote Muslim immigration to Europe, organizations like SOS Racism. As I said a couple hundred comments ago, a pretty face makes up for a lot.

I remember an incident a couple of months ago. I was driving to work and was stopped at a red light. I happened to glance over at the car next to me and happened to catch the driver's eye. She had an attractive face and I reflexively smiled. She did a full double take and gave me a huge ear-ro-ear grin right back--just as the light changed and we went our separate ways.

I couldn't see her body, but judging from her face and shoulders I think she was probably fat. She reacted like she couldn't believe that a man actually smiled at her.

That put a spring in my step all day long, and I think it did for her, too.

There is no way that old, ugly me would have gotten a reaction like that had I smiled at a woman who looked like a cheerleader or movie star.

I've petted a tiger's tail.

Barnum and Bailey used to do this big thing about "arriving in your town", even if your town was LA. So it came to be in about 1975, they had the big "circus arrival" thing going on and my mom, my sister, and I went to it. Part of it was you got to see the transport arrangements for the animals and there was a caged tiger with about 3' of tail hangin' out. Not being totally stupid, we only got to pet the last foot -- and still got shooed away when the staff noticed us.

The kitteh involved seemed to take it in stride.

434 Oy vey, oy vey is mir. Practically *everywhere* makes enemies of the Jews at some point, it's ridiculous to say that makes them enemies of the world. I saw one Jewish site a while ago counting about 200 times the Jews had been expelled from various countries, including five separate expulsions from France. Was France an enemy of the world every time? Hell no.

Methinks the rabbi has gotten his reasoning backwards: he looks at some state which became an enemy of the world, and notices that that state was an enemy of the Jews too. Well, that's kinda implied in "enemy of the world".

It's true that the rabbi's argument is screwy ... but France has always been an enemy to everyone. France has never had an ally they didn't stab in the back, eventually, and usually for no payoff, at all. The French just have a compulsion about stabbing allies in the back.

440 434 Oy vey, oy vey is mir.

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded -- here and there, now and then -- are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.

This is known as "bad luck."

451 Not a good days for fans of NY teams.

First, we destroyed the Jets.

Then KC demolishes their WS hopes.

I hope the NY press drown in their tears.

456 I've just discovered this chick's Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_n1_-seZkU

If you're into prepping/survivalism, her vids are outstanding. The fact that she's a nerdy-hot EuroBabe is just the icing on the cake.

I bet you'll learn more from her free Youtube vids that you would from reading a dozen survival books. She takes all those things you see in the books, that look so easy on the page, and shows you how those things work out in the real world.

She's a remarkably capable outdoorswoman. And I wouldn't mind snuggling up to her in a bug-out shelter. Cute accent too.

458 Ms Lilly is very German, I believe, and her video's are interesting. If you pay attention you can read between the lines in a few of them as to what they are doing off camera and she's not shy about it either.

459 458 Ms Lilly is very German

Her English is quite good though.

What does she do off camera? The nude bathing in the stream? Or shenanigans with her "best friend" Mike?

Her dog is teh awesome. What a great doggeh.

460 Tim - some years ago a few trolls found out how to use HTML to sabotage mu.nu blogs. Some changes had to be made in the blog software to prevent it from happening again, in the process, we lost some functionality and a few keywords disappear or prevent posts from appearing.

On the other hand, trolls haven't been able to shut down the blog for hours at a time in a while now. So there's that.

So, basically, no, HTML in comments is not (properly) supported. People try like every week, though.
