Both versions were filmed on the same sets, same days, with the English (Lugosi) version filmed during the day, the Spanish version at night. They had a much tighter schedule because of the limited hours available to them, but critics almost universally (pun intended) consider the Spanish version superior. I have the same dvd too, but haven't watched the Spanish one either.

Posted by: BurtTC at October 28, 2015 06:33 PM (TOk1P)

65 Thanks, Burt. I started the Spanish one the other night but only watched about 10 minutes. I thought I recognized some of the same footage, such as dracula as a bat driving the carriage. I heard the spanish version was much longer (and sexier) but I wasn't sure how much of it was the actual same footage.

Also, the 3D bluray of Creature from the Black Lagoon has a really good 3d effect (if you have the right kind of tv). Also only watched the first 10 minutes of that.

Jindal Debate Thread - The only one that matters, and the one who shouldn't be there.

Jindal is only there at all because CNBC loosed the criteria to essentially, "you just have to get 1% or better in one poll in one state". On his polling average he would have been Gilmored.

120 was there anything else that contributed?

At a guess - in this case, not so much a guess as stuff I've been told by other Louisianans - there are a lot of welfare-eating moochers in that state. And here I'm going to be not-racist (for a change) and am going to point out that this moocherism is enthusiastically partaken by layabouts of several races in Louisiana.

It ain't Texas. It's... well, New France. If there's a hands-on governor, the moochers find stuff to do. If there's not, they don't.

I enjoy watching comments on AoS about it. That's as deep into it as I can get.

Just finished watching Star Trek Continues episode 5, "Divided We Stand," where Kirk and McCoy get thrust back into the US Civil War.

Always enjoy when commenters here re-fight the "unpleasantness." I learn something every time. Although there are things to argue about in this episode (esp for those who don't think much of Lincoln), I thought in most ways in this show they did a good job. We sure did lose a lot of good humanity.

ST Continues is the best of the Trek OS re-creations, especially with the casting coup of Doohan's son as "Scotty," and they seem to have a good budget. Especially notable in this ep was the reference to the real-life Union officer, James T. Kirk.

Nothing like having half a century of Trek fandom behind you to build from.

200 We'll need a thread on (not "the") Whedon's "Cabin In The Woods" and Raimi's "Bruce Campbell vs. the Army of Darkness".

First thought: I'm going for Raimi on this.

Whedon was satirising the whole genre, preaching to us that it's all about satiating our innate need to see human sacrifices. Raimi left that alone and stuck to satirising the Mel Gibson action-hero... except that he ultimately didn't, because Raimi had his stand-in for Gibson (that is, Bruce) step up at the end and defeat Evil.

Evil does, in the end, exist; and it does need to be defeated. Even if it has to be defeated by an asshole. Even if you yourself has to do it.

just 1,000 people will get tickets to see tonight's debate in person in the massive Coors Events Center on the scenic University of Colorado campus in Boulder.

CNBC, the cable network sponsoring the debate, didn't respond to questions about why the 11,000-seat arena would remain mostly empty.

the Colorado Republican Party, which will get 200 tickets to split among party donors and elected officials. the Republican National Committee also gets 200 seats, the presidential candidates onstage will each get some, CNBC will keep some for itself and the University of Colorado will get 150 seats.

It's simple. The Powers That Be have decided that Americans are too much of a pain in the ass to rule, with our outdated notions of "individual liberty", "unalienable rights" and "limited Constitutional government".

Better to replace us with illiterate Third World peasants who know their place.

I said this a year or so ago, so it's not directed at you, but "it's cute to think that spending is related to revenue under Obama".

We have a trillion a year deficit that we admit to. Then you have the Fed printing money to buy local municipal bonds to pay off the PSUT (pub sec union thugs).

Obama's spent, what, 7 trillion in six years over the actual tax receipts this formerly first world nation takes in?

And the roads near my house are shit, the illegals do all the work that ostensibly doesn't require a college degree or require face time...and if I were a kid, I'd be living with my parents.

I'll bet that most really are aware of the existential threat that Islam presents to the world, but the problem is that there are sooooo many Muslims, that they are afraid of stirring them up any more than they already are. Perhaps their brilliant idea is to spread the splodey dopes throughout the western world in the hope that they will come to appreciate their new-found freedom, assimilate, and reject their violent dreams of a worldwide caliphate. And this is how the idiots of the EU, UN and US think they can "conquer" Islam.

Since it was the W.H.O. that came out with the "studies" I think it is probably more nudging because the global warming idiots claim that raising animals for food hurts Mother Gaia. There are global elites that believe they are the master race and anyone not in their club has the potential and importance of an ant that bites and talks.

Hahaha. It's possible; they are that stupid.

How about this:

The Powers That Be are planning to depopulate the Third World in WWIII, so they're encouraging all this migration to the First World now in order to preserve as much genetic diversity as possible in the aftermath.

It makes just as much sense.

312 "There is a reason every welfare state in the world is opening their
borders and it's not love of 3rd world types. SS and Medicare are
crashing because there aren't enough people paying in anymore." Jack Straw

True enough regarding their intentions perhaps, but young workers won't pay enough even for themselves over time, and they are bringing in older folks with them, so they probably aren't even keeping up in the short run. It is just extending the Ponzi scheme a little longer, but mostly building it on debt.

Bigger numbers of people make some stats look better maybe, but behind it all is a debt chasm that only grows wider. Job numbers still increase a little for now, but participation rate steadily declines, and its only partly due to boomers. It's declining for those under 55, and over 55 are working longer.

But more people collecting welfare still means more revenue for the COCs, and more voters for the Dems. But the spending comes from taxpayers that have less to innovate and more prudently invest. as I see it.

315 "But the spending comes from taxpayers that have less to innovate and more prudently invest. as I see it." I meant, the revenue for the entitlements (which gets spent in the market), is robbed from the worker.

316 Remember that troll who's family emigrated here from Croatia? He spent a few days talking about how we were racist immigrant hating scum---not like Croatia and the EU. A day or two after his last screed Croatia closed their borders tight and posted armed soldiers to keep out the Muslim invaders.
Heh.

Levin just said the same thing about the talking heads. Streaming his show since I don't have cable. I'm not going to sit in my car and listed to it on XM. I'll just listen to Levin's commentary.

I'm only half kidding. The hard-core environazis have been saying for decades that the human population must be drastically reduced. Maybe they're putting plans into action. It wouldn't surprise me a bit.
