1 Good Morning Morons. Today is Tuesday, October 27, 2015. On this day in 1964 Ronald Reagan gave his famous "Time For Choosing" speech in support of Barry Goldwater. Goldwater was the start of the conservative movement in the United States for the Republican Party. He campaigned against New Deal welfare programs, unions, and the Soviet Union. But the corrupt LBJ with the aid of the MFM was able to paint him as a war monger and racist because he voted against the civil rights act because he said it was unconstitutional (which it was). He did succeed in one thing. He wrested control of the South from the Democrats who had owned it since the end of Reconstruction. And no, it was not because of his opposition to the civil rights act as the Democrats in the MFM say. LBJ had been moving hard left for a long time and that did not suit the South.

4 A rural county KY school has been closed by authorities after a man attempted to kill a State trooper nearby in a traffic stop. The man is listed as "dangerous as they come" and has a long criminal record.

He was convicted of a series of crimes including rape, burglary, robbery, assault and riot in Kentucky in the 1970s and 1980s, according to state corrections department records. Cook was convicted of raping a 19-year-old in Marion County in 1971, records showed. He was required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

Cook was indicted in July on charges of first-degree trafficking in methamphetamine and tampering with physical evidence, according to Hardin County court records. He was scheduled for arraignment in August but did not appear. A warrant was issued for his arrest and remains outstanding.

My question is why was this scum still walking the streets? I apply the 100 year rule. 100 years ago he would have never made it to trial after the rape.

6 Government appointed boards are often used by big corporate companies to stifle competition. Here's a prime example of a purely useless board doing just that. This board was appointed during the FDR years and should have been eliminated the first time Republicans gained control of the congress.

7 The religion of global warming is at it again and the MFM, including Fox, is more than willing to carry their water. Here they say the Persian Gulf region will become uninhabitable due to continued warming. There has been no warming since 1998 and we have been steadily cooling despite the lies put out by NOAA and Obama.

11 Thousands of Israeli Jews took legal action against Facebook in a New York court Monday, alleging it allowed jihadists to openly recruit and train terrorists and plan terror attacks on its pages.

Some 20,000 Israelis, organized by the Israel-based non-profit Shurat HaDin, The Israel Law Center, joined a civil lawsuit filed Monday in the Supreme Court for the State of New York, seeking an injunction against Facebook.

Facebook maintains that it takes immediate action to take down these pages. I suspect that their definition of immediate is lacking.

13 Must read account of victims storming Washington to demand that the flood of illegals be stopped. See how illegals literally get away with murder and lenient judges tap them on the wrist while they remain in the US. Thank you Obama. These families should be suing Obama because his illegal acts have caused them to lose family members. Since Congress refuses to act they will have to combine forces and go for a class action suit and a writ of mandamus to force him to enforce the law. And yes, from what I have seen they do have standing.

55 Well that was very MST3K... the double feature of the English language original and Spanish versions of Dracula Sunday evening. Subtitles failed on the Spanish version. So we were making our own dialogue. Poor Dracula, bedeviling everyone in a desperate quest for either Metamucil or Ex-Lax to cure his constipation. So yes the movie became Dracula: The Quest for Metamucil.

As someone noted here, the Spanish Mina, Eva, gets the better gowns to show off her assets. When Eva has her miraculous recovery the gown is very see through. So see through, see no bra..

But the Spanish Dracula, super close up of bulging eyes does not have the same effect as the medium close-up of Lugosi squinting. And the dude has an overbite and one time when he bears his teeth, well he looked like an oily ferret.

There is still one more showing of this double feature, tomorrow night.

At this point, the only alternatives for Real Conservatives are forming a third party -- which scares them shitless -- or getting up on their hind legs and demanding that every damn RINO from Boner, Bitch McConnell and Prince Reebus to Poppin' Fresh and the other Witches of Salem be put out to pasture.

Seeking "accommodation" or "compromise" with these fools is total stupidity. I hope Trump knows when a "contract" loses all validity.

Abbot's being too nice a guy, IMO. The only way his order will stand is if he starts throwing some asses in jail. In fact, he should have a trustworthy Sheriff on hand to slap the bracelets on Choom Boy the next time President Illegal Alien steps on Texas soil.

I also use it on my roof, as it prevents and kills the mold which discolors shingles.

161 I had thought of this Saturday, but I haven't had a chance to comment on this idea...

We learned something really pretty profound about Obama the other day when Delta Force aided in the prison rescue mission, but people, it seems, failed to pick up on it.

In Obama's presidency, he has never taken responsibility for any problem that has occurred on his watch, yet he has always be instantaneously quick to take credit for anything 'good' that has happened.

The other day however, when soldiers risked their lives and one gave his life in order to save 70 souls, the instant reaction of the White House was to say that Obama had nothing to do with the decision to save those people. So quick was the reaction that it seemed almost a repudiation of the mission.

Every time a military mission resulted in the death of someone - Bin Laden, all of the dronings that even killed innocent civilians - Obama was Johnie on the spot. to take credit.

When Gaddafi for some reason, suddenly had to be deposed even though he had done nothing different than he had been doing for decades that resulted in his really very cruel, barbaric death, the Obama administration was effusive in taking credit.

When the five high ranking terrorists were released whom everyone who isn't an idiot knows will result in people, possibly masses of people, dying. That was a jewel in the crown of this administration.

Yet when a mission results in people's lives being heroically saved, Obama rejects any credit whatsoever.

When Fast and Furious resulted in the deaths of hundreds of people, this administration was absolutely ambivalent to the point of abject callousness.

Several years ago, in a discussion with my Rabbi, he commented on the fact that the kind of power that enables a person to be able to kill people with a word from their mouths, must be a life changing power. It must be the kind of power that in a profound, even ultimate sense, reveals the character of that person.

The event where in he all but repudiated the responsibility for the saving of lives to me, is revealing, and it says nothing good about Obama or his character. But it says plenty bad about him.

163 Four people were murdered in Dallas a few days ago. All in the White Rock Lake area. It's not a high crime part of the city. Or it wasn't. A fifty something year old white man was murdered while jogging in White Rock Trail Park. A young girl was murdered while on her way to church. The jogger was killed by a young black guy with a machete for no known reason. The girl was killed by a black man who police described as an obvious sexual predator. The jogger's wife was so distraught she committed suicide after her husbands funeral. Two women were murdered in an apartment on the same day as these other murders, but no suspects have been found. What the hell is going on? Is it me or does it seem like these black on white crimes are getting more numerous every day? Are Louis Farrakhan and other race baiters rhetoric having an influence on their minions? Or is this just the result of Obama and his Justice Dept. view that its all whitey's fault cause blacks can do no wrong?

Posted by: Kreplach at October 27, 2015 08:04 AM (2yquu)

Conservatism has always been about more than just one single issue, regardless of what that issue has been.

Anyone can come up with their one single issue that they care the most about and declare everyone who disagrees with them on that issue is "not conservative". But that is just substituting your own personal desire for "conservatism".

172 The Los Angeles Times remained steadfast in their dedication to obtuseness yesterday, with a front page article on gun control in Chicago. This went on at length making the same long exhausted argument that the laws would work if it wasn't for all of the neighboring regions that make gun purchases easy. Nowhere do they mention that these same areas where gun purchases and ownership is far more accessible are not shooting galleries like Chicago itself.

Isn't that odd? The places that let every law abiding adult have access to owning a gun are not overwhelmed with gun violence. But the festering open wound of a city that has some of the most stringent anti-gun laws in the nation cannot seem to get a handle on its homicide rate. Any rational person would realize that Chicago receives no benefit from gun control when they make no effort to control the dangerous animals in their midst. Perhaps they could just outlaw diseases like measles rather than wasting money on costly vaccinations.

I have no illusions about Teh Donald. He strikes me as a sloppy, off-the-cuff thinker, more hardnosed businessman than student of political realities. I don't think he'll get the nomination nor be elected. My admiration of him is his "no bullshit" manner and the fact that he gives the people I hate the vapors.

But even were he to be elected, I have no hopes. Without a full-scale purge - which would require more dedication and singlemindedness than I believe he has - Trump will make no headway against the "deep state" of unelected bureaucrats and time-servers who run the federal agencies that have been choking, harrassing and murdering people for years. There will be bluster, noise and a general feeling of "at last, we're great again!" but no real fundamental change.

Sadly, I only see several scenarios for our future:

- a gradual descent into a soft totalitarianism, with selected Enemies of the State publicly prosecuted and imprisoned to keep the rest in line;

- a military coup and succeeding "dirty war;"

- civil war;

- revolution and Reign of Terror.

Of these, I think the soft totalitarian model will be the outcome.

Cruz has never supported amnesty.
Supporting free trade is a conservative virtue. I think there were problems with the TPP bill but I don't think it is unreasonable for a conservative to support it.
I agree I don't think Cruz should have supported the Corker bill. But if that is the best you can do to criticize Cruz's supposed conservative apostasy, I can find many many many more examples of Trump's unconservatism.
There is never a pure, true conservative, there is only relative amounts of better or worse. Cruz isn't perfect but he is a far sight better than most and certainly better than Trump.

But Trump is lying to you too. He is lying in the sense that he doesn't actually favor border security from a sincere desire to protect the border. He favors border security because that is what conservatives want to hear at the moment and that's the issue that he thinks will propel him to victory. The instant that the calculus changes, he will change and support something else that he thinks will help him in that moment. That has been the history of his whole life. When Obama was popular he was praising him. When Hillary was popular he was praising her and bribing her to go to his wedding. That is what populists do. He has no conviction, other than Trump.
I don't think it is too much to ask for a person to support an issue because it's the right thing to do, even when it becomes unpopular to do so.

I just love how it is so often the ones that are usually trying to preach the "practicality" of supporting a "less than perfect" establishment hack Republican are completely baffled by conservatives practicality of supporting Trump. Would most prefer to go and support an actual conservative? Yes, its repeated over and over again, but there's also an acknowledgement of the reality that the GOPe would do everything to prevent and destroy them from gaining any traction for president. They also want to destroy and prevent Trump, but they at least currently can't.

So some conservatives are throwing support behind Trump because Fuck the GOPe and their bullshit.

I can easily see a President Trump cutting deals with the GOPe instead. He's a businessman, right? That is what businessmen do. They cut deals not based on conviction or moral fortitude but based on personal advantage.

If the GOPe presented him with funding for a Mexico wall but also $2 zillion more in spending for all sorts of crap that would make even George W. Bush blush, then I don't think there is any doubt that he would take the deal. Because he doesn't actually support lower spending. Because he's not actually a conservative.

282 Trump is populist enough to garner considerable support from LIV's. He's celebrity apprentice, a perfect candidate for this cycle. What he would do is buy us time. That's 4 or 8 years for the Democrats currently in charge to become too old to do anything and 4 or 8 more years for what remains of the Obama caucus to drift further left.

In the GOP, it would buy time for a conservative rebellion among the youngers IF one is to occur. It gives them breathing room to get their act together. Trump will make noise, do deals, but I can't see the downside of a populist candidate right now. I know I don't want the Democrats appointing judges, and the GOPe has a horrid track record of doing so.

I infer this based on Trump's flip-flops on every other issue.
He was in favor of gun control before he was opposed to it.
He thought Hillary was a great politician before he thought she was a terrible person.
He thought illegals were great for the country before he thought they were terrible for the country.

He favored single-payer health care before he thought it was a bad idea.

He favored partial-birth abortion before he was opposed to it.

On virtually every issue you can name, he has flip-flopped so badly it would make John Kerry blushed. And the common theme is that he is just following the populist winds.

The old saw about the repeating of history has some validity (more correlation than the "study" leading to this AM's header)...

I suggest to the horde a dose of Gibbon's writing on The Empire.
It's all in the public domain and can be downloaded/read for free.

Of course, it's too tough a slog for our illiterati class. So yes, we'll be repeating it all.

305 I have written to Ace to ask him for another "What are you thankful for? thread" or just a thread where people post funny videos, or nice pictures or positive stories. It's good to be informed (and I appreciate Ace's posts a lot) but the dour daily news roundups (and I appreciator that effort taken) and people saying "It's all over" and "I'm going to to watch out for a family and, keep my ammunition stocked and to heck with everybody else" or "As long as it was lawyers who were shot who cares?" is just a downer . Yes, I'm quite aware I can "hit the Hot Air Button" (Its not better over there) or I can just log out, but I like people here and I'm a conservative. I just can't think it's good for people to read this stuff daily without an occasional alternative.

So, if you want to object to my suggestion, go ahead. I have to go help out at the food pantry now. :^)

308 America has always been schizophrenic about immigration. Even while celebrating its early foundation as a nation composed completely of immigrants, the country passed four different limitation of immigration laws in it's first fifteen years after ratification.

Immigration has always been a hot button issue, but it's not the only one. With the Wilson/Roosevelt/Obama progressive fascists running things right now, I'd argue it shouldn't even be a major issue.

Destruction of the Constitutional order, the endless expansion of extra-Constitutional administrative state and consequent destruction of Republican government, along with the total corruption of politicians, ought to rank plenty higher in peoples minds.

I wouldn't call immigration a sideshow, but it sure isn't the Big Problem either. End immigration and you still have FEMA camps to deal with.

332 Vegetarians are weak people. Period. The day that a skyscraper anywhere is built by a vegan team is the day I retract that statement.

My daughter went down the no meat road for a couple years. All preachy and holier than thou. Then she got a real job that required physical activity. Suddenly she discovered the wonders of calorie dense food that slowly released energy back into her body. She developed a shape, strong arms, more defined legs. She no longer got sick half a dozen times a year.

Good morning hordelings.

To join the fray, may I add that I can't see myself voting for Trump either. I think he is doing us all a great service in running, as he is willing to say the things no one else will say. That is refreshing. It doesn't mean that translates into being a good President. It just means it makes it that much harder for the media to ignore the 3000 pound elephant in the room.

I find myself drawn to Bobby Jindal. Does he stand a chance of winning? Not unless Divine Intervention is in play. I probably will sit this one out.

As for LIB, if you think something good will come out the other side of that, I fear you are grossly mistaken. If you want to let it burn, it is because you are sick of what we have, and not because you think things will be better after economic and social collapse. Democracies are not built on the backs of civilizations where the law of the jungle is in effect. Brutal Tyranny does.

I guess they refuse to accept the fact that Jeb Bush is a terrible candidate, a pudgy, emasculatedcipher of a man even more inarticulate than his father and brother.

Should also be noted that former President George W. Bushkept his mouth shut throughout the Obama Administration and only now opens his yap to talk shit about fellow Republicans. What an asshole.

I've been thinking this over-publicizing the incorrect summary of
the meta-study anti-sausage thing is a conspiracy between other food
industries.

390 I consider Trump my 'temper tantrum' candidate. Just an opportunity to flip the bird at the establishment of both parties.

As to what he could accomplish in office, having someone in office who would bark at underlings to get things accomplished, get some actual Americans employed, get a balanced budget, shore up borders, get a handle on immigration... there are all good things.

At heart I suspect he's an 'America first' type of guy, 180 degrees different than the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania avenue. I think you have to go all the way back to 1980 to 1988 for the last time that happened.

391 "At this point I don't care about taxes or trade or much else. The rapid swirling of the republic around the tidy bowl has made some very base issues most acute."

Exactly. Stopping the swirling is the only thing that really matters at this point. If we manage to save some vestiges of Constitutional liberty we can have a discussion of those other issues at our leisure; otherwise, not so much.

" It's about time we stopped letting them con us into thinking they are just fellow citizens with different opinions"

I had a discussion about this a few days ago with an elderly hipster who was soliciting signatures to get Bernie on the ballot here in IL. Now ever since I was able to vote I would sign nominating petitions for any candidate, agree or disagree; it's the American way, let 'em have their shot .... .
So I asked this guy if he would sign a petition for Trump, or indeed, any Republican. He starts on a rant that basically added up to "no", with expletives.
Handed the clipboard back to him, saying "See, there's the basic difference between you & me".

Wouldn't it be nice if you could feel like minds so lost could actually be changed ?

No, I don't see that as Law of the Jungle. I see that is the judicial process gone wrong due to political motives. Law of the Jungle to me means, foraging for food, scarcity of goods, lack of safety for your family, going underground to preserve your faith, complete collapse of anything that looks like society. Going tribal, with the smallest unit of tribalism, you're family. A tyrant who promised an end to that would look pretty appealing.

417 Meh, on all of you butter-won't-melt-in-my-mouth morons who claim their dainty sensibilities are offended by Trump and won't vote for him
in the general.

Look, the GOP is like having the World's Stupidest Dog for a pet.

It only learns with great difficulty and often requires a whack with the newspaper cuz it keeps pissing the rug.

Trump is not Reagan (oh, how I wish!) but the same things are happening to him that happened to Reagan.

Both the GOPe and Dims went after him hard and in the same ways. Reagan will start a war, Reagan is Hitler. Reagan does have the credibility. Reagan's just a stupid actor. Etc, etc, on and on and on.

So, you know the biggest rebuke that the GOP and the Dims and the MSM could take would be the election of Trump if he wins the nomination.

And if you've seen parents with poorly behaved, uncontrolled young children-

most of the time what you'll see is a parent too weak to go through with the promised punishment.

If we threaten with Trump, then we must punish them with Trump if he wins the nomination.

Becuz that is exactly what he would be, a rebuke and a punishment upon them.

If we stay home, because,my dears, that Trump fellow is sooooo vulgar,

then the GOPe wins. Simple as that.

They would rather have Hillary! win and take table scraps,

than win with Trump.

Because Hillary! will have the same basic program as the GOPe will, only the GOPe get a smaller portion of goodies.

But, they still get the goodies.

So, to sum up- if you threaten punishment then you must deliver punishment.

Or the GOP will assume that you're too weak to obey and really when push comes to shove,

they can safely ignore you.

As I've said before-

In the end, I would like Cruz, but it's up to him to make the case and win.

419 I like how people are yukking it up.

I personally have always been of the opinion that everything will kill you. Coke will give you diabetes. Diet Coke will give you cancer. Milk will give you heart disease. And so on and so forth.

BUT, that said, this is very personal to me, because my mom had a carcinoma found on and around her colon, and she had much of her colon removed last year. I know her diet, and I know that she has eaten those danger foods for much of her life. (She doesn't eat chicken, little turkey, very little red meat- so ham and bacon and sausage are her go-to foods) I can't help but wonder...

There isn't a day that goes by that I don't worry that some residual cells may have remained and will spread. There's not a day that goes by that I don't wonder if they got everything. I hope you guys never have to feel like that.

So, if they are confident in this study. If they are confident in their findings, and there is even a chance that everything they say is true, to me it's worth it to believe them.

Re: So Red Meat Causes Cancer

As a public service I will gladly remove said carcinogens from your refrigerators and freezers for free and incinerate said carcinogens at a temperature of no less than 180 degrees and not more than 1600 degrees depending on weight and type, further process said carcinogens through a mechanical and macrobiotic process called mastication and eupepsia and dispose of said carcinogens in an EPA approved manner.

99 BTW for meds my insurance requires generic only (which I was already doing) and 90 day supply.

My M-I-L and her now deceased sister both had very bad reactions to generic Synthroid (thyroid hormone). M-I-L lost close to 20 pounds (she's about to be 90 y.o. and only ~4'10") and was just feeling tired and rundown. Wife and I were really getting worried. Switched the Rx and her weight's coming back and she feels much better.
