Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Southwest Ohio Moron Meet-Up After Action Report [Speedster1]Last Saturday (the 17th), a small, brave group of Morons gathered for the 2nd Annual SWOHMoMe. The good news is that no police helicopters were dispatched; the bad news is that we were apparently too well-behaved for police choppers to be dispatched. This year's gathering was much smaller than last year's, despite the (far) superior venue. On the other hand, it was a much more intimate (shut up) group, and we ended up closing the joint. I really can't say enough good things about Don Pablo's: the staff were polite and attentive, the food was really good, and both Buzzion and I enjoyed our Margarita's (who knew that ghosts could imbibe! Oh well, once a Moron, *always* a Moron). Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

Boxwood hedges are OK, they normally don't do much root heaving. You can keep them trimmed down to the level of the porch rail easily.
They are nice and have a nice scent I think my grandparents had those off their front porch. The traditional knot gardens used a lot of boxwood as borders since it could be kept down low enough so the herbs and flowers to get enough sun to bloom. Talk to the nursery about when best to plant and how far out they should be from the foundation. The other think is that if you are near me the best way to get carpenter ants is to have brush up against the house for them to get in, and if you are regularly sprayed you will want some space for the pest gut to get in. Heh. Cruise ship...
I've always wanted to see Alaska, and was jealous when some friends went - on a cruise, at that. Pat came back bragging about how wonderful it was, complete with pictures that everyone got tired of looking at after 5 minutes. Then Jim & I went down to the pond with our bourbons to start a bonfire, and he told me how miserable it was. He was out well over 10k, and everything was so structured that he couldn't just explore the towns they visited. He finally said "F this!" and walked away, found a local watering hole, met some locals, and had a good last couple of days. He warned me to never take a cruise. We just flew to Anchorage, visited the sites there (Earthquake Museum, Museum of Alaska, a day trip to Sitka), and then just drove around: east to Wrangell-St. Elias, north to Talkeetna. The one splurge we did (not anywhere near 10k) was a flightseeing tour to Denali from Talkeetna. Fun stuff. Probably should shoot for July, when it gets really warm and nice. Plus, it's light all night, and there's no such thing as "bar time" so we could do whatever we wanted.
For a truly "Alaskan" adventure, we could rent Chilkoots, or just one of the bars there. If we want something "nicer" (and I can't imagine why we would...), there's Club Paris for filets or, my fav, Simon and Seaforts for seafood & etc., with a lovely view of Mt. Susitna. From there we can stumble around downtown from place to place, pretty much to our hearts' content. Or, we could rock Eklutna Lake by grilling our own salmon and bringing our own libations..... Or.... the list might be endless. Who's up for this? Posted by: tcn in AK at October 24, 2015 06:51 PM (+YMhA) 106

I've been on a couple cruises. The first was a Wind Jammer Cruise in the BVI some time ago. A singles cruise and went by myself. It was so much fun.
The girls wanted to go shopping one morning on shore. Ha, took me 30 mins for what I wanted and spent the rest of the day at a beach bar. Another day we stumbled on a cab driver in Belize. He drove the four of us all over, bought the beer and only charged us $25. We tipped him $50. He took us out in the boonies and it was the first time I saw monkeys in the wild. I guess my point is, don't follow the crowd. Even on a big floating hotel. Posted by: Infidel at October 24, 2015 06:54 PM (UoBzq) 109

No NDH, we were in another country and all those girls were sissies. No need to get stranded in a 2nd world country. It was four against one and I think two of us could've taken him out if need be. He was trying to make a buck off tourists. I think I still have his business card. It was probably the best day of the cruise. Always go with your gut feeling. He was not the first taxi driver that approached us. Posted by: Infidel at October 24, 2015 07:03 PM (UoBzq) 121

Posted by: Niedermeyer's Dead Horse at October 24, 2015 07:03 PM (PMlgt) Then let's do Anchorage, because you can drive just about everywhere that's drivable from here, and see plenty within about 20 minutes. http://www.koots.com/services.htm That's one suggestion. http://simonandseaforts.com/ Another grand idea, maybe a bit less "Alaskan," if you know what I mean.... doesn't involve beefy bouncers. http://www.alyeskaresort.com/ Good for a day trip or to stay for a while. The tram ride is spectacular. 45 min south of Anchorage. http://www.alaska.org/guide/eklutna-lake-scenic-drive A little way north, maybe. A do it yourself adventure--we could grill and imbibe.... I've spent the night in Anchorage (flight full, had to wait), Lima, Frankfurt (fortunately, had a 24/7 bar so I did not sleep much), London Stanstead, and twice in Heathrow. Stanstead was by far the worst, because of a noisy cleaning machine (BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!) going almost all night in the area I slept, or tried to sleep.

My mom is one awesome lady who cares deeply about women, minorities and the environment, and if you really posed a danger to her ability to save women, she'd squash you like the vile, retrogade vermin that you are!
But you are insignificant worms, too small to bother doing anything about. But make no mistake, you are on our radar. So if you are smart, if you value your lives, liberty, property, friends, family and pets, you will close up shop for good. I wish you could realize how cool my mom really is. Serious Thanks to Speedstre1. What a cool evening.
Nashville could work some times for us (if pesky work coincides). Son lives in AK, you guys will appreciate his recent hunting trip. Now is a good time for going there, or after April. 1) drive from Anchorage to near Haynes. 3AM to 10AM. 2) Set traps and snares, split duty, one guy catches perch. 3) 12Noon, clean, cook, and eat perch. Hike about 2 miles for "right place", hang perch guts on rope from tree. Skill alert, must be able to climb tree. Wait 3 hours on branch. 4) shoot one of wolves. 5) skin, tan hide, cook wolf in Dutch oven, eat the wolf. 6) tanning old school, brains, salt, etc. 7) traps got fox, beaver, otter. mountain goat lured with red shirt waving, just like Zane Grey. All in standard weekend. Forget the cruises. Avoid crowds, they suck your soul. Posted by: ExPatPatriot at October 24, 2015 09:12 PM (0FGeF) 185
