Coulter's new piece. Trump is like Reagan and the media is clueless about it ...In fact, most candidates who were in first place the summer before an election year went on to be the nominee. Luckily, Politico is not a website primarily concerned with politics or it might have known this. Among them: Ronald Reagan in August 1979, Walter Mondale in August 1983, Michael Dukakis (tied for first) in August 1987, Bob Dole in August 1995; George W. Bush in August 1999 and Mitt Romney in August 2011. ...Even Reagan wasn't dominating the polls then the way Trump is now. In the Post's poll, Reagan was at 27 percent, compared to 13 to 15 percent for everybody else, including undecideds. Since announcing his candidacy four months ago by talking about Mexican "rapists," Trump has been polling at around 20 percent to 30 percent, with nearly every other candidate stuck in the single digits. http://bit.ly/1W3O5Re the hill (be careful clicking on the "Ann Coulter" link in Ace's sidebar. Sen. Marco Rubio, who has the worst attendance record in the US Senate, proposed a bill on Tuesday to authorize the firing of Veterans Administration employees for not coming to work. "All we're saying in this bill is if you work at the VA and you aren't doing your job, they get to fire you. I think people are shocked that that [doesn't] actually exist in the entire government, since there is really no other job in the country where if you don't do your job, you don't get fired.". said Rubio. The Post reported earlier this month that Rubio has missed 84 of 275 votes in Congress's upper chamber, or 30.5 percent. For October to date, he has missed seven of eight recorded votes. Anna, I am assuming you know this, so ignore me if you do (others may not know). Goodreads is the GOTO place for those who love to read and write. Top spot for published authors. There are some other sites dedicated to this (booktalk.org, librarything.com, kboards.com, etc) but Goodreads is the best, imho. You can find all sorts of resources for editing, reviews, and cover art. Even advice on your art. Best of all, the support from co-authors is fantastic. Very nice people run the site, and it is jam-packed with information. You can set up your own Author profile there, join groups of similar interests, and so forth. It's a must for authors (and avid readers). All of the Top Authors have profiles there, where you can follow their work, and many communicate with you there. https://www.goodreads.com/ It's hard to explain what a useful site this is. If you are a member you already know this. And as a new member it takes a bit to figure out all the goodies there, just be patient. It's a huge archive and database. Saw a link on Drudge about advertisers now have hired a fraud detection agency to investigate the 'middle men' who handle the tedious business of getting advertiser's ads place in media outlets. Seems that the media outlets were rebating back to the middlemen.
Perfectly legal. The middle men go to the company that wants ads placed and doesn't want to go through all the headache, so a rebate from the media should go to the middle man who is doing all the drudge work. Middleman says to company who wants to advertise : I can get your ads run in all the major markets for X million. Middleman says to media outlets : I have a client who wants to advertise but only has y million to spend. It's the classic Steve Jobs maneuver. I've been on the internet in various capacities since the early 1990s, I hope your company goes the way of Flooz and Alta Vista. Thank you for your time." Dedicated review sites, even useful ones, always end up becoming ridiculous arm-twisting agents of political correctness. That's how the internet (and more particularly the world wide web) works: the loudest bunch of retards ends up ruining everything. So I saw Paul Ryan's heart rending basically bribery of the House Republicans to vow never to oppose anything that he will do as speaker or he'll take his ball and go home...
One of the first acts he did after he assisted Romney in giving us another four years of Obama was to screw over the veterans in a totally bogus measly $6 billion "budget cut". Of all of the places he could have taken that pissant amount of money without even causing a ripple in the pond of the governments rape of this country and he chose the veterans. Amnesty and sucking up to that racist fuck Gutierrez... bad enough. Boning the veterans in a time of war. That seals it for me. He'll be the speaker, no doubt. By Joseph R. Sizoo, former President of New Brunswick Theological Seminary, the oldest seminary in the United States-Quoted in "How to Stop Worrying and Start Living" by Dale Carnegie
Years ago, in a day of uncertainty and disillusionment, when my whole life seemed to be overwhelmed by forces outside of my control, one morning quite casually I opened my New Testament and my eyes fell on this sentence, "He that hath sent me is with me-the father hath not left me alone." (John 8:29). My life has never been the same since that hour. Everything for me has been different after that. I suppose not a day has passed that I have not repeated it to myself. Many have come to me for counseling during those years, and I have always sent them away with this sustaining sentence.. Ever since that hour when my eyes fell upon it, I have lived by this sentence. I have walked with it and found in it my peace and strength. To me it is the very essence of religion. It lies at the rock bottom of everything that makes life worth living. It is the Golden Text of my life. Posted by: FenelonSpoke at October 21, 2015 09:22 AM (MLWQG) 190

But, Trump will, at least give me one thing that I want.
You're exactly right! In a Trump Administration, you can expect the wall with Mexico will be built in 6 months tops! Of course in the meantime I will have pushed through gun control, single-payer health care, taxing the rich, letting Putin have all of the Middle East, appointing my business buddy to SCOTUS who would make Harriet Miers look like a complete genius, and seizing more land so that I can build more casinos. But you'll have your wall! That will make America great! Posted by: Teh Donald at October 21, 2015 09:35 AM (lVU49) You're making my argument for me. Washington Post has an article explaining that the demographic changes taking place mean the eventual demise of the NRA and the Second Amendment. What the Dems haven't been able to achieve with elections or the courts will be taken care of with immigration. I'm sure the WP is delighted with this as are their liberal readers. It probably won't be quite as simple as that but overall they have a valid point. So hang on a few more years lib/progs. Your much desired destruction of our constitutional rights will soon be replaced with govt granted right to health care and sex change operations, just a little bit more patience. Posted by: chemjeff at October 21, 2015 09:36 AM (lVU49)If Cruz or Jindal are the nominee, I'll vote for them, gladly. My like for Trump is not because I believe, he is, in any Hayek sense, a conservative. I believe that whatever "conservative" principles he might have are along the lines of what he'd call "common sense." What I do know is that the GOPe, various members of the punditocrasie and other exemplars of so-called "conservative" thought, are fighting against Trump with far, far more energy and vitriol than they have ever displayed towards Obama. This tells me that a Trump presidency is something they fear. What is that fear?Don't tell me it's fear for the country's future, its security or its fiscal health. After nearly eight years of fellating Obama, the GOP very plainly doesn't give a shit about America. They care only about their place at the trough. And their screaming about Trump tells me that, in some way, he threatens their place at the trough. So, short of the National Razor, Trump is my weapon to hand against the GOP. Jindal probably couldn't be re-elected if he weren't term limited out, he has and had zero chance of winning the Presidency.
I generally like Cruz, but his smarmy demeanor grate after a while. He reminds me of the prosecutor from My Cousin Vinny. He can be Trumps VP. Trump is going to be the nominee of this there can be no doubt. Whether the GOP actually allows it is another story. Hey, now, Rachel Ray paid her dues, too. SHe started out working at a specialty food place (fancy cheeses and whatnot) and was asked to do in-store demos to gives shoppers ideas on what they could do with their foods. She became the main attraction, was asked to publish her quickie recipes for customers, and was eventually asked to do a cooking demo on the Today show when some other chef backed out. Then the Food network courted - despite her protesting that she wasn't a chef - because of he appeal to novice and/or busy home cooks. I don't watch her show because I find her voice grating, but the gal's got moxie.

The absolute worst part is the road test though. Had to back the bus into a "garage" (cinderblock structure with three 8' walls) that had very little clearance on either side, and you had to back the bus in to within 12" of a little cone they had placed in the back. And you only got one correction move during your backing in attempt. Prayers going up! With second attempt she knows what to expect now, so she'll probably do much better. Posted by: Teh Donald at October 21, 2015 09:35 AM (lVU49) Alright, stop. Back up. I'm weary of this idiocy. Noah Rothman asked this question recently: "Since when is hiking taxes on the rich a conservative position?" The question is instructive, as it is the only thing that social cons and fiscal cons agree upon. Higher taxes on the megarich generally have a negative economic impact on the country, so lower taxes as a means of attracting business is the way to go. If this concept existed in a vacuum, it would be a no-brainer, however, there is no vacuum. The cold, brutal truth is that the GOP donors and establishment wield this policy as a shield against Democrat tax policies that they want protection from, while they, ultimately, agree with and help engineer Democrat social positions. That's the truth of the matter. The GOP establishment/donor class agree with the Democrats on social policy, while using the Republican voter as a human shield against Democratic taxation. We are human shields that bear the brunt of confiscatory tax policy while the rich laugh at us, and use us to enact social reforms that they or their trophy wives/husbands find fashionable. So my answer to "Since when is taxing the rich a conservative position?", troll-poster, and Noah Rothman, is simply this: "Since it was made clear that there is no alliance between donor and voter, and since we realized that we are unwilling foot soldiers for the rich's societal games." Put bluntly, yes, tax the rich. Tax the hell out of them. Set this country on a path to righteousness first, and prosperity second, and we will have peace, justice, AND prosperity in short order. Trust in God, not in men. Or don't, and watch the nation burn to the ground as World War III fires up. Either way, it is the godless money-lovers who will suffer the most. o.o S'way it is. So my answer to "Since when is taxing the rich a conservative position?", troll-poster, and Noah Rothman, is simply this: "Since it was made clear that there is no alliance between donor and voter, and since we realized that we are unwilling foot soldiers for the rich's societal games."
Put bluntly, yes, tax the rich. You mean urge Democrats to cross over to defeat a conservative candidate in favor of a decrepit, incontinent crony Republican? Interesting angle I read about that; part of the reason for the GOP's dirty tricks in Mississippi is because Scott Brown refused to run in New Hampshire unless the party made sure he wouldn't be "embarrassed" by a Tea Party senate candidate in another state. Posted by: Make America Great Again at October 21, 2015 10:32 AM (LXJ1e) Damn straight it has. If you take in less money and then spend even more wildly, bad things are bound to happen. This is not uncommon knowledge, yet the GOP does not seem to be able to stop itself. Why? Simple! They don't care. They are enjoying aristocratic lives rubbing shoulders with corporate bigwigs, pop culture stars, and high-dollar whores. Concerns about the future are for those who have to manage their money; not something the Washington faux elites have to do. They'll simply print, tax, and steal whatever they need. Years ago when I was younger I had a difficult time arguing against a Democrat, much older than I was, about why the Republicans were more fiscally responsible when they were running big deficits in the Bush years. I had no good answer, and at the time, did not know enough to discern the truth. That has changed. Soak the rich. Let them feel the pain they inflict upon us. When they cry and scream about how it isn't responsible conservative position, laugh and go full confiscatory on them. Only when they understand how powerless the rank and file have felt will they begin to change. Or they'll threaten to leave the country, which, in actuality, won't be that bad; we have more than enough resources on our own to prosper the country for decades to come, especially in the oil markets. If we went full-bore going after our own energy reserves? House Saud gets kicked to the curb at long last. The rise of Trump in this presidential race has done more good in American politics than anything I can remember in the course of my 29 years so far. Perhaps the rest of you can remember better things, but this is the closest thing to a realignment of the country that I have yet seen. Even if you're right that they oppose Trump for purely venal reasons, why is that a reason to support Trump? Posted by: chemjeff at October 21, 2015 10:05 AM (lVU49) Why should they be monetarily rewarded for destroying the country? They should not. I'd be happy to support Cruz in the race, but this is why- we have a super-mega field with 0-3% guys still in the race. The GOPe learned with McCain and Romney that it's an easy way to get the opposition vote split 10 different ways and get their guy elected. That's why they pushed Jeb! so hard before the debates, his poll numbers were supposed to remain above "the crowd" and by this time he would be coronated for the nom. Trump needs to stay in until Jeb! and the other 0-3% GOPe-tards drop out. That won't happen because the GOPe and their handlers are too stupid to adapt. So...Trump it will be and it's all their fault. I just hope Trump is smart enough to pick Cruz as his running mate. If that's the most conservative ticket I can, get that's fine. Your saying the current situation with 14 million illegals would be fine if we just had a bigger door to let them in legally originally, or were somehow able to weed them out effectively from the good immigrants. Our Federal government is not competent enough to do that. How many people do you think we need coming into this country? Posted by: Make America Great Again at October 21, 2015 11:03 AM (LXJ1e) 472

Posted by: Make America Great Again at October 21, 2015 11:03 AM (LXJ1e) IF we had secure borders - yes, with a wall - then illegal immigration would not be a viable option. Then, we would be able to select whom we want via our own policies. Right now the policy is to reward family reunification above all other considerations. That is wrong. sure family reunification is fine, but shouldn't be the pre-eminent dominant strategy. I don't know how much we "need" in terms of legal immigration. Probably not all that many. There will never be a pay structure good enough to defeat a cult that has overtaken 1) the government, 2) the media, 3) academia, and 4) most of the "elite".
Posted by: Make America Great Again at October 21, 2015 10:58 AM (LXJ1e) My pay proposal would attract competent candidates who would be able to compete with the cultists. No more bargain basement Kevin McCarthy's. Time to stock up on top drawer problem solvers. Posted by: jwest at October 21, 2015 11:10 AM (Zs4uk) 474

Two words: Immigration Hiatus. I don't see a need for *any* immigration for the next 25 years while we digest what we have received over the last 25 years.
If there is a particular individual with assets or skills we need, let Congress admit them by specific legislation. Posted by: Grump928(c) at October 21, 2015 11:57 AM (evdj2) 476
