There are lots of things that were not included in the bible. I used to collect a lot of gnostic and pre-Christian texts back when my Dad was in the Seminary. I always though Revelations was directed at the Roman Empire of the time but like all visions and prophecy you first have to believe in the concept which I do though YMMV, and then you also need to look at the actual result. For example there are lots of prophecies about the tribe that happened. You might even say that the spread of Christianity over much of the globe was "proof" of prophecy.
It is more a matter of belief than something for discussion.

Last shutdown, the Democrats were steadily losing the battle on optics. Really, telling elderly WWII veterans that they can't go on the grounds of their own monument? You can't buy anti-Democratic sentiments that strong.
Then a grand total of one (1) poll came out from a liberal alphabet network which said that the public thought the shutdown was a disaster, and it was all the Republicans' fault, and that they were a bunch of big meanies, and that the public were going to punish the GOP horribly at the next election.
The Vichy Republicans of the Beltway immediately panicked and folded and gave Obama everything he wanted.
Except... the poll was bullshit. It massively oversampled Democrats and undersampled Republican base voters and indies. As later proven by the fact that voters DID NOT "punish" the Republicans at the next election. The party picked up seats, instead.
Shutdowns are showdowns. And they are _winnable_ showdowns just so long as you have steady-nerved leadership intent on achieving concrete goals. Something that the congressional GOP lacked at the time and still lacks today.

I read an article about the Dakotas oil patch. The area had spent millions building houses and apartments for the workers because they did not understand that roughnecks are transient. There are now thousands of empty houses and apartments and most of the workers have left. Hundreds of abandoned RVs and campers left behind. The locals are passing laws raising temp rents to twice their normal rate to try to force the people left to rent or buy. So if you are renting a trailer near the oil field for $400/month your rent will jump to $600 or $800/month. The locals think that the worker will then rent a new apartment for $650 or buy a house. No, they will go somewhere else where they need roughnecks. Stupid stupid stupid.

True story: An "associate" of mine had a very good civil service job with a pretty good career path before him. When he saw the medical records aspect of O'care, he said "This is a potential goldmine!". He resigned his government job and formed a company with his wife (who was then in the legal transcription business) for the express purpose of converting existing records to certified digital records. I don't know how he's doing, but I bet he's doing well.

I believe it completely. The reason I made that joke is because a few years ago I met a doctor who was head of his department at a major hospital (think $350K+/year). He also quit his job after ACA and started an EMR software company, bought the rights to some software, rewrote it for his hospital and all it's clinics and leased it along with a support contract. He is making literally millions now.

Having studied e-med records from 1992, personally walking the halls of the congress and senate on this subject, speaking with everyone from industry and political staffs from clerks to Ira Magaziner, I can say unequivocally that, if done right, digitized records could revolutionize medical treatment and greatly reduce costs.
It will take some time for the hardware and software to catch up, but anywhere there is money and a need the industry will catch up quick.
In the end, doctors and nurses will spend more time with patients, less with paperwork. However, the big returns will be in research and access to an individual's records when needed.

We're kinda a red state these days, especially after we got fucked over by Blanco during Katrina for the express purpose of helping the Democratic Party. I think the last time Louisiana went for a Democratic presidential candidate was in the 70's.
People were (and still are) angry at the Dems down here even before Zero spent most of his term shitting on us. That Jindal won here doesn't mean much about him, whichever Republican got through the state's clusterflunch primary system was going to win the election.

Nonetheless, the voting trend pre-2008 was highly Democratic. Look at their governors. Look at their state reps.
LA swung solidly GOP in past eight years, with a series of defections from the Democrat party. Party id as recently as five years ago was 52 - 25 Dem/GOP.
If it is now characterized as solid republican (which several strategists say), then that swing happened AFTER Jindal's ascension to governorship.
Draw your own conclusions.

At the risk of undermining my own argument that LA has only recently trended right, I also have to point out her Democrats were historically the most conservative on Team Blue.
It is arguable they were Dems who just voted like GOP. In this case, they changed their spots to who they were.
