A local casino once had a weekly poker tourney with no entry fee. First come, first serve. You had to get there two hours in advance to score a spot. After lots of bitching from the players willing to put cash into the tourneys, they changed the rules to a whopping $5 entry fee.
Instantly, the waiting list shrank to near zero. That's the effect of even a small amount of skin in the game.

Why are you saying things about Muslims that aren't true, when you know people say untrue things about people in your religion?
Carson said: what have I said about Muslims that is not true?
Tapper: that they would not be able to put the U.S. above their religion.
Carson: but if they are devout Muslims, that is true. Their religion requires allegiance to Islam first and foremost, above all things. If a Muslim candidate were willing to reject those tenets of Islam that require him to put Islam first, then I would consider him for president.

We're still not sure. We scoured the living room (we're pretty sure that's where it happened because that's were all the blood was) and didn't find anything definitive. We did find part of a broken sewing needle (!!!!) that may have been the culprit, but there was no blood on it, and the vet didn't find the rest of the needle when they were doing the surgery to sew her paw back together.
Tell your boss you have to stay home to take care of your paw!

It may seem like a distinction without a difference, but they were mistreated by Europeans (and Asians as well, but since there weren't a ton in Asia, mostly Europeans). "Christianity" - from the Copts in the middle east, to the Greek Orthodox and Roman Catholics always preached (though it could not always deliver) patience and respect for the Jews.
I understand some of the Protestant movements were less civil early on (though I know of no specifics, so I could be wrong there), but as a religion Christianity has pretty well always admitted that it owes a great debt to the Jews.
Which doesn't change perception at all, but I do like to point out that the perception is based on what might be generously called "bad press."

It might not directly affect your individual marriage, but that's not the point. It does affect the institution by making a mockery of it. It also affects free exercise of religion, as we've seen in the florist, wedding cake and pizza cases. I also don't think it's much of a stretch to start seeing the government use coercive measures to bring churches to heel on the issue either, such as through loss of tax-exempt status or other measures. So, while the very small microcosm that is your marriage may very well go unaffected, that's not where it ends.

When I was in the 4th grade I went to a private seven day adventurer school down the block from my house for one year. It was like going to your weird uncle's house for school except they believed in vegetarianism and church was on Saturday not sundays. Nice folks but a little odd like hippies but all clean cut and with manners. When I went back to public school the following year my teacher there said they had no record of my 4th grade year but let it go when my mom told them I went to the seven days school.

The law says we are responsible for these fees, which we recognize. We do not have the money to pay this amount. The Judge insinuated in his order that Brady should pay since he said they were the instigators. If this was a ploy designed to give the appearance that Brady was responsible and turn us against each other, it did not work.
Brady is still fighting for us pro bono and we see no evidence that the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence will not help us raise funds if and when that time comes.

1- Gay marriage does not exist. It is a nonsense phrase. A same-sex, monamorous couple is not "married" no matter what a piece of paper says.
2- The Gay lobby is all-but-openly admitting that the entire point was not "equal treatment" but another avenue to advance their own agenda - which is the degradation of Judeo-Christian moral culture. And the degradation of Judeo-Christian moral culture *does* affect you.
Note that much (if not most) of our world today - from hotels to hospitals, from civil police to modern courts-of-law would not exist without that Judeo-Christian culture, and in its absence will also pass away.

Correct. Most marriages are not marginal cases, by definition. Middle of the bell curve, etc. so SSM isn't going to affect them in any way. But marginal cases are affected and as more are, the more common the erosion becomes.
So, a couple who would otherwise marry but are dissuaded because of SSM might be: Hyper-religious and believe that church to be polluted and false. Non-religious with little importance attached to marriage. Homophobic. A couple otherwise 'obliged to marry' because of eg pregnancy using any available excuse not to because they're not in love [how that works: If marriage is about 'love' then....].

There is no requirement to verify "mental stability". And even if there is.... there are medical privacy laws that prevent that.
Im am truly very sorry that you lost your daughter in this horrific shooting and you find yourself in the position of being liable for the ammo companies legal fees. Perhaps.... you should retain another attorney and litigate your current attorney to pick up teh quarter million dollar tab. They, IMHO, were negligent in their management of risk when it came to your liability exposure regarding the suit against the ammo company.

I'm cynical enough to think that their attorneys (probably hand-picked by the Brady org, not the family) tanked the case specifically to get the attorney's fees judgement against the family so the Brady org can fundraise off of it. The Brady org has been virtually broke for years, with Bloomberg's org sucking up all the anti-gun oxygen lately.

Actually that is quite true. Repression splinters society, but the useful part of that for the dictators, actual and would-be, is the side effect is that this creates a society in which no effective resistance can coalesce. (See Tito's Yugoslavia and Maduro's Venezuela for recent example)
So, for the lefties and wanna-be Juntas: do you repression smart, persecute, outlaw, penalize, drag them away secretly at night, use every weapon to beat them down, and make sure no-one trusts anyone enough to even hint the world may be better in any way shape or form, and you will have that thousand year rule.

Just by coincidence, I happened to take my wife to Evanston, Il. yesterday. I had read often about what a chic and upscale little town (suburb of Chi) on the north shore it was.
Was. Perhaps. Street derelicts galore, wobbling around looking in the recycling bins for cans, wildly pierced and tatted "wymyn", and oddly, muslims everywhere. Four out of five women who weren't grrrll lovers wore hijabs, and the flowing robes of muzzieland.
Many languages I didn't understand.
By our staid middle-classness we stood out like a sugar cube in a pepper shaker.
