Photos Of Boeing's 1960s Stealth Jet Concept

For years, all the aviation world knew about Boeing's secret stealth project from the 1960s was limited to a name and a single mysterious photo. It seemed like a relic out of time, possessing many stealthy design features that wouldn't exist until decades later.

But Boeing exclusively provided Foxtrot Alpha with a trove of photos and information for the very first time. After decades in the shadows, here is Boeing's Kennedy-era "Quiet Bird."

In the 80's we hit the Freedom Trifecta-

Reagan, Thatcher, and JPII

an ass-kicking, take-no-prisoners trio of freedom-loving, free marketeers-

who brought down the Russian empire, made their respective countries as well as the world a freer, richer, more peaceful, happier place.

After Obama's election, his people were crowing he'd be the anti-Reagan (until it didn't poll well), so-

if the Brits elect Clowny McOlde-FashionedCommietard as PM, we'll hit...

The Olde-Fashioned Commietard Oligarch Trifecta-

with Obama, Pope Francis, and Corbyn

a trio of dull, intellectually lazy, freedom-hating, jihadist-enabling, wealth-destroyers

who are reestablishing the Russian Empire, making their respective countries and the world poorer(except for their cronies), less free, more violent, and angrier place.

God may be playing one of his little jokes with this Insane Clown Trio.

28 I remember when Pope John Paul II came to America in 1979. The was a huge and important event. But this pope, it's meh. Maybe it was because back then while things were shitty, I could feel a ground swell of change happening. JP II was going to stand tall and Reagan was in the wings. Now, everything is so depressingly stupid and leftist.

Deal heads up:

On Friday, Amazon's Prime will cost $67, down $32 from its usual $99 price tag.

The membership gives customers two-day, free shipping on tens of millions of items, as well as access to tens of thousands of free TV shows, movies, music, and books. It includes unlimited cloud storage for photos, too.

Amazon did one of these sales earlier in the year. As I recall, the price reduction was for new members only and membership renews at the regular price.

Now, let's see if AoS get's a commission link up for the sale: #TwoWeeks.

On the other hand, you look at the engineering being done back in the '60's and you marvel at the engineering that could be done today as an extension of those ideas and it makes you go , 'hhmmmmm'.

And then you look at the space program and how the federal bureaucracy tied the whole program up in an incestuous medieval network of feudal states.

I don't know if it's hideous, or just (as you say) par for the course. The MSM has an agenda, a collectivist, totalitarian agenda, and they'll seize on anything from Francis that's remotely close in pushing their agenda.

That's why he has to rapidly learn to watch what he says, or else it looks like he's supporting the same agenda. I don't buy this "oh, he's just a nice guy who likes to sound off" schtick elsewise.

I took this to be quite a poetic metaphor. Winterkorn is Winter corn, or Winter seed, the stuff you put up in the barn so that you have a crop next year.

Yeah, no. The CEO's name is Winterkorn.

Having spent a good deal of my career in international sales through distribution, I'd like to hear more about this before making a judgement. It is really not uncommon when you sell through distributors to have products sold to end users that are out of your control regardless of the restrictions that are put on the distribution channels, particularly when you start talking about commodity products like printers and pcs.

Need more information before making a call.

Conservatives recognize that human beings are inherently flawed and are not perfectible outside of miraculous/ supernatural means and there will never be a utopia of human making. Therefore, we seek to strike the balance between having just enough in the way of law and authority to hold together a stable coherent society, but not so many as to make tyranny easy. Because people in government are still people, just as susceptible to flaw and selfish impulse as are the regular citizens.

187 Well said, Mandy P.

One of the greatest failings of modern "liberalism" is the misplaced belief in the perfectability of fallible humanity. If only the right people are in charge and the right laws are passed, then we can stamp out all the objectable behaviors.

I agree with you that a key difference in conservative philosophy is that it differs from the "liberal" one on this very point.

The litmus test for evil leftists is children:

-Obama said he wouldn't want his daughters "burdened with a baby" ...(hey, slimeball, that'd be YOUR grandchild...)

- they treated Sarah Pallin's children horribly, especially the smallest and least able to defend himself.

That would be assuming that those schools teach geography and political history at all.

From time to time, it will select a proxy that has been banned, and I have to close the browser and restart.

274 "well, td, how do you feel about Rubio/Kasich? (I think that's looking a little more likely.)
I'd much prefer Walker myself, but his lousy consultants have pretty much ended his career with The Worst Campaign Evah."

No, Rick Perry ran the worst campaign.

From what I've read, the Walker staff took a few decisions that were risky, but in the pre-Trump atmosphere of late winter, could be defended. They didn't turn out to be the right decisions in retrospect, but a decent case could be made for them at the time.

I think it says a great deal about Scott Walker's character that he decided to pull the plug rather than go into debt for what had become a long-shot chance. Better to fight another day. He's only 47 and can run for WI governor for as long as the voters in that state will have him.

John Kasich is a good man and a very decent governor of Ohio. I happily voted for him twice. I don't see what his appeal nationally might be, however. His Congressional career is very good but is from 20 years ago. Moreover, he has an off-putting, preachy demeanor.

I would see Rubio picking Walker before Kasich, if it came down to it. I had a good chuckle to myself yesterday imagining Rubio doing what Obama did and picking another, longer-serving senator as his running mate. I wondered how all the nativist extremists would shit themselves if that choice was Jeff Sessions.

That's actually one of the reasons the Taliban became so powerful in Afghanistan pre-911, and

why they were so hated by the chieftans (the big beneficiaries of BF-ing little boys) of the traditional Afghan tribes.

And one big reason why the various leaders in Afghanistan cooperated to get rid of the Taliban.

I'm theorizing that Walker is really a scrupulous fiduciary steward with a deep Midwestern morality about finances more than a combative personality and that this motivated his actions in Wisconsin more than just "fighting the Left." Thus his financially responsible decision to pull out now, and his relative lack of combativeness in his campaign.

Kasich is a mainstream, mid-western, conservative Republican. The type of guy who wins landslide elections in places that are as relatively evenly-split as Ohio. He isn't a fire-breather for anything other than competence in government and lower taxes.

He made a tactical error in not exempting fire service and police from his anti-gov't union push in Ohio, as Walker had done in WI. Ordinary voters are cool with sticking it to teachers, especially when their representation on TV come across as semi-literate ungrateful time-servers. But, the same contempt is not extended to public safety workers, despite BLM and Rand Paul's best efforts.

Rush Limbaugh always says that it doesn't matter what the press says about him because the press didn't make him. They were not responsible for his success, so they don't have the power to take it away.

If the reason some Republicans are afraid to take a stand is that they are afraid of the bad press, they should take a page from Limbaugh's playbook.

But I think the real reason is that they really don't hold conservative ideals themselves. They are largely on the other team.

Kasquish is an imbecile.

At the last debate, Kasquish was going on about how Obama's Iran deal isn't all that bad because, gosh, if they cheat, we can just put the sanctions right back on.

Eliding three incredibly obvious and very dangerous points:

(a) Without accurate baselining and rigorous inspections, it's impossible to know whether or not Tehran *is* cheating,

(b) It's impossible to put the sanctions back on without the active cooperation of Russia and China, neither of whom would be inclined to provide such cooperation,

(c) The Iranians get a staggering $150B in frozen funds, and if they cheat and the USA objects, there's no way to force them to give the money back. It goes straight to their nuke programs, Hamas, and Hezbollah.

The fundamental problem with Kasquish is that he is stupid. Bone stupid. Intellectually lazy and factually underinformed. Incapable of thinking things through to conclusions.

I'm not saying that what teachers get is unreasonable, but you've got to have some consistency between income and outgo.

Further, California's probably the worst off in terms of its schools being stuffed with 'English learners', who are more expensive to teach than typical middle-class English-speakers (those middle-class English-speakers around here being at least 50% Asian and Indian/Near-Eastern, you can fill in the blank as to who the 'English learners' are.)

At that point, they usually will become evasive. The reasons being that they have no idea how much is currently being spent, and they are afraid to answer because their number may be less than is already being spent, or, their number is some ridiculous sum. One area of politics that Conservatives still have heavy influence on is local politics. Cities and states (which cannot borrow/print like the federal government can) must by nature function more conservatively. So it baffles me that conservatives continue to allow the public school system to control how our children are raised/indoctrinated without giving themselves the ability/authority to keep some of their own tax dollars to educate their own children as they best see fit, through the use of vouchers. This should be an easy win, but for some reason, it is very rare.

JEM, find it hard to believe that CA is that far down in per/pupil spending. I know that, apples-apples adjusted terms, the spending per/pupil is multiples of what it was when I was in school. And you may have seen the latest test results - CA educational outcomes were between 50% and 70% of minimal norms in all the basics.

The destruction of the greatest public education system ever is probably the best place to see the larger destruction of a dynamic middle-class based society in CA. One generation ago private schools were a freakish small portion of the picture. Public schools were generally very good.

Now? As with everything else in CA, a gigantic division has taken place. People are desperate to get their kids into private schools, or the minority of excellent public schools (that way because - surprise! - they are in areas with active parental involvement and standards). Most languish in the worsening majority of public schools.

Coming from a different, now-gone universe, I still find it jarring to hear such negative comments about public schools here and elsewhere. Public schools in CA back then were both quite good at education, and provided social education and experience that I consider quintessentially American - people from all walks mixing and meeting and living.

Mass illegal migration, absurd destructive "environmental" policies (destroyed small manufacturing), tax policy, and welfarism have combined to produce a shitty and very stratified society in CA where before there was a lot of dynamism. VDH gets at some of this in his writings but even he soft-peddles how bad it is, esp. when one considers what has been lost.

IIRC, he said that priests would be allowed discretion during theHoly Year of 2016 in forgiving women who have had abortions (providing, of course, that they are truly penitent). I don't know that he said anything specifically about abortionists themselves, but presumably the same caveat of true repentance applies in those cases.

480 . But I'm not sure why people get bothered by this pope talking about forgiveness for sinners. There are plenty of other things to get bothered about.

I think it's because Francis (Francis as reported by the media of course) appears to kinda skim over the need for repentance and confession.

So it appears - appears, I repeat - as though he's all happy-clappy "love your neighbor" without the "go and sin no more part."

That perception is partly why lib Catholics (like some in my family) love him - it's lightweight religion.

They forget that the Gospel doesn't say the woman caught in adultery and saved by Christ immediately said, "Thanks for understanding Jesus, but I gotta follow my heart" and got back into bed with her lover.

-------

Do you know if it is not?

The Pope encouraged the Catholic Church to reach out to those women who have had abortion and are suffering from that sin. Giving priests the power to absolve such a sin (which they have in America through the bishops). Why that troubles people is beyond me. Eradicating abortion is a good thing. But so is encouraging those who suffer from it to seek forgiveness through the sacrament of penance.

For her birthday and Christmas the last couple years she asked for gift certificates for Staples to help buy school supplies. That's how pathetic the actual spending on the kids is in a lot of our schools. And she says that parent involvement is almost non-existent. She and her colleagues spend a lot of time teaching the kids basic grooming and social interaction skills, stuff they should have learned at home but obviously don't.

498 So it baffles me that conservatives continue to allow the public school system to control how our children are raised/indoctrinated without giving themselves the ability/authority to keep some of their own tax dollars to educate their own children as they best see fit, through the use of vouchers. This should be an easy win, but for some reason, it is very rare.

510 I always thought that priests had the authority to absolve any sin if the person is genuinely contrite. (Of course, the priest, being human, might not be able to tell if the person is really contrite or just acting - but God knows).

That goes for abortion. I know women who have had abortions, repented and gone back to the Church and they've been receiving Communion for years.

So I don't see how this is a change.

Not only do underclass parents not read to their kids, they don't even speak to them.

I'd be surprised if that doesn't happen in schools in the USA with large underclass contingents, too. We have the same social pathologies which the Brits do.

JackStraw, you probably know all this, but for several years now public schools will do "fund-raisers" to .... pay for basic school supplies. Art/music/other classes - all gone. Field trips (which can be quite something in SoCal given what's here) over, unless parents come up with extra $$$$.

All this as per/pupil spending is multiples of what it was just 30 years ago (in real terms).

And of course they're having to be social workers/surrogate parents to many kids. Jeebus, the schools are now *feeding centers* for kids, even during summer. This in a society literally besotted with welfare and support programs, public and private.

I told this one last night on the ONT. At a recent neighborhood meeting, local congresswoman's rep (member is a typical worthless Dem drone non-entity) made two points: her office was focused on fighting "hunger in our community", and oh, if you want in on some grant money for arts/etc., let us help you with your applications.

What all this says about our situation, not just politically but culturally, is devastating and far beyond the scope of a comments section.

It isn't. It has been standard practice in the US for bishops to delegate absolution for abortions (to contrite penitents) to local priests for a long time. It wasn't the case in the developing world, though. The change is to bring the other localities into conformity with the US and other developed world dioceses.

Here in Commiefornia, we have an oddball little back office outfit in Sackammenna, the Legislative Analysts' Office, sort of a GAO for the state.

Their figures have been reasonably honest at totting up the per-pupil state spending, which is currently about $13K/yr/pupil for K-12.

This of course leaves out local spending such as the freaking massive bond measures that every district pops on the ballot in off-year elections whenever they think they can get away with it. They're using bond money not so much for capital projects, but for ongoing operational outlays like ordinary maintenance and upkeep.

I've mentioned this before - had a Lefty friend who taught kindergarten in poor neighborhood. Half the kids were dropped off in their pjs. The school served FREE breakfast before class started. Parents couldn't be bothered to arrive early despite numerous attempts to make sure they knew it was FREE FOOD. Teacher started setting aside food so that hungry kids could nibble in class. Then it finally dawned on her that she was doing all the work to make sure terrible parents didn't even have to lift one GD finger to FEED THEIR CHILDREN for FREE to ensure they were alert in school.

Yeah, she left that school after 1 year. Totally shattered her Lefty illusions.

Yes torque, the Leg Analyst's office will sometimes f**k up and do solid, obvious analysis that upsets the nomenklatura (like when they reported that half of CA's - unconstitutional, by the way - deficit was attributable to the departure of just 5,000 households from the tax rolls, in a state of 32 million+ - THAT is howskewed CA's tax code is).

And - again, illegal and/or unconstitutional - use of bond-measure funds for non-capital expenses is just a particularly outrageous example of the lawlessness that has brought the country/state to its current pass.

Just for those who doubt how quickly things can collapse, Arnold the disaster rode resentment from several specific issues into office. Prominent among those were driver's licenses for illegals, raising the car registration fees, and state spending excesses/using bond money for operating expenses (again, illegal and unconstitutional, and unthinkable in any previous era). In fairly short order, Arnie had adopted all three things. So an unprecedented outsider candidate winning the first recall election in history essentially became his opponent, fairly quickly.

It almost goes to explain some of the frustration and sense that government is no longer responsive to popular will or rule of law.

And Tom Brady lived right down the street. Used to see him walking Giselle's dog on the Boston Common. He seemed like a good guy but he plays for the Pats thus I don't like him.

Back in the 80's and 90's before athletes became insanely rich and out of touch and when I first lived in Boston it wasn't uncommon at all to see guys like Larry Bird, Dennis Eckersley and Terry O'Reilly of the Big Bad Bruins hanging in the Back Bay bars. Hell, O'Reilly owned one of them.

My parents went all high end appliances when I remodeled their kitchen 5-10 years ago. Viking, Sub Zero, some swedish dishwasher.

All had serious reliability issues and were ridiculously complicated to work on and the parts were crazy expensive.

I don't get it. At all.

My fridge is probably 15 years old and it's starting to make some weird noises, but still works fine.

My stove is probably 30 years old and has never had a problem. Kind of ugly, but when I replace it it will be for aesthetic reasons not because it no longer works.

I don't find that hard to believe at all. It seems pretty obvious that most politicians know their immediate portfolio cold, and not much outside of that portfolio. That same Politico article described Walker's work habits and willingness to learn as like a "machine," but he obviously wasn't up to speed as soon as he needed to be.

I'm pretty sure Walker could tell you where every body is buried in Wisconsin, but that didn't prepare him for the bigger stage, unfortunately.

Honestly, only Rubio, Cruz, Fiorina, and Bush appear, amongst the top tier currently, to have shown any facility with a broad range of national issues. Carson and Trump are both laughably ignorant, and guys like Santorum, Graham and Jindal know a shit-ton but have no chance.

I just find it inconceivable that anyone running for office would need to hire a bunch of "policy advisers" (read: RNC operatives) before they opine on an issue.

I mean, I certainly wouldn't.

I can't think of a single political subject that I would not feel comfortable speaking about off the top of my head.

648 It seems pretty obvious that most politicians know their immediate
portfolio cold, and not much outside of that portfolio. That same
Politico article described Walker's work habits and willingness to learn
as like a "machine," but he obviously wasn't up to speed as soon as he
needed to be.

Carson and Trump are both laughably ignorant

Got that people?

The guys Tdaddy likes are just "not up to speed".

The guys he hates are "laughably ignorant".

Totally logical and unemotional process going on here. Pay close attention and be informed!

655 And I've seen NO evidence that Bush or anyone else knows more on policy than anyone else.

He and Carly (for example) seem to be able to memorize talking points and facts and figures that are fed to them, but that doesn't say much to me.

Policy is more then repeating what some hired gun tells you to say, it's actually understanding the issues and making your own decisions on what you think is right and thinking for yourself.

The only candidate that I know of that can speak fluently on any political subject without couching is Rand Paul. But of course he will not get anywhere near the nomination.

I guess I just assume that someone asking for my vote for President has at a bare minimum the same amount of knowledge about the world around him that I, an average citizen with no political experience or ambitions have.

JackStraw - amazing about Orr (this from someone who grew up on the Mexican border).

Have played hockey most of my life, still do, a few brushes-with-greatness from that sector too.

Played for years with the son of Bruins Hall of Famer Ed Westfall (he came out to our practices a few times, and brought a Wash Capital vet with him).

Learned a neat semi-dirty trick from Yvon Cournouyer, Montreal legend, on the ice at a tournament once (he actually came on the ice to teach us some of his old tricks). A way to disrupt a puck-carrier from behind, legally, with your stick, by pushing down on his rear hand (a trick useful to me, as someone often finding himself behind the opposition puck-carrier ....).

And at the last tournament I went to with my old team from back east, in Chicago, after our last game we went to the pub/sports bar on the next block. Turns out to be Denis Savard's favorite hangout - he comes up, buys us beers and food, and we talk hockey for hours.
