I found what it was choking on, some single quote mark and a full em dash character. Ran it through some "convert to ASCII" routine in a text editor program, which puts "?" marks for characters it can't convert. However, the editor displayed the original just fine.

I understand they got pretty good, our weapons designers (who are villified by the pop culture). Generally, less than 5% of the energy yield goes to that radiation pulse. They've probably achieved >50% of the yield going into it, but that stuff is classified.
The original fusion bombs, the H-bombs were so dirty as to fallout because they used a third state, a U-238 casing that fissioned like mad due to the fast neutron pulse of the fusion reaction. U-238 fissions easily with fast enough neutrons, it just takes a fusion explosion to make enough. That third state could nearly double the total yield, but made it dirty as hell.
So someone had the bright idea of using that neutron flux as the main feature. See if you can maximize that, and then make it much smaller.

Those who are Christian might wish to read Joel Richardson's books on the nature of the Antichrist and the end times. Islamic end times theology is pretty much a reversal of Jewish/Christian end times theology. His ideas are almost as old as the Church, but Richardson has popularized it among scholars and laity alike.
There's a great deal of revival going on in Islamic countries. We need to pray for the Muslim world.

At church, we pray for the "faithful departed."
What is the point of that? If God is faithful, which I believe he is, we don't have to pray for the "faithful departed." I pray for the unfaithfully departed. Family and friends who were wonderful people, while not believers. I also pray for the living.

Your pastor is saying bullshit. The reason suicides are presumed to usually go to hell is that despair is a sin, and suicides are probably dying in sin. Exceptions exist, obviously, but the stereotype of suicidal despair is someone whose message to the world is something like "Everything's too terrible to deal with, there's nothing that can be done, things cannot become better" ... which is an offense and an insult to everything that is good in the universe. (Variant: narcissistic despair, "I'm too horrible a person to be allowed to live, God cannot save me".)

But having said all that, people commit suicide for different reasons under different circumstances. I've known of rock-solid people who killed themselves after being diagnosed with a horrible terminal disease. The people in the Twin Towers. People faced with unimaginable, soul-crushing grief. I'm just not sure suicide is a damnable sin in ALL cases.
