I was told by Obama that Islam invented math and numbers and medicine and science. It's the bestest religion ever, isn't it? It's the "religion of peace", right? So how can anyone be offended or insulted when someone thinks that Obama is a Muslim? Shouldn't it be a compliment? Yet, Hillary says it's "hateful rhetoric". I guess Hillary hates Islam, then. She's a bigot. Don Lemon reported this as if he was attending a funeral. Anderson Cooper was apoplectic. Megyn Kelly was furious. Why do they all hate Islam? What's wrong with thinking someone's a member of such an esteemed group? It's like they think being called a Muslim is as bad as being called a Nazi. Why do they think Muslims are Nazis?

The Marine Corps reportedly will ask to keep several front-line combat jobs closed to women, bucking the trend being followed by the other three military services.
The Associated Press, citing U.S. officials, reported Friday that the Corps' tentative decision has ignited tension between Navy and Marine leaders and raised a debate over whether Navy Secretary Ray Mabus can veto any Marine Corps proposal to prohibit women from serving in certain infantry and reconnaissance positions. The AP reported that no final decision had been made or presented to Marine leaders, but officials say Defense Secretary Ash Carter is aware of the dispute and intends to review the Marine plan. The report comes nine days after the Marines released a study that found that all-male infantry units performed at a higher-level than units with women in them. Specifically, the study found that the all-male units moved faster, shot more accurately, could carry more weight and suffered fewer injuries than gender-integrated units. The injuries suffered by female Marines included stress fractures that likely resulted from carrying heavy loads. Posted by: Nevergiveup at September 18, 2015 08:01 AM (DUoqb) 16

My proposal to fix the immigration problem and put America back on track:
Spin off California as an independent nation. This would have several positive effects for the nation as a whole. 1) An independent California would be magnet for illegals, drawing them away from the United States 2) Reduced Federal Spending on welfare and financial drains on the Federal Budget 3) 55 Less electoral votes for the Democrat, two less Democrat Senators, and numerous less number of Democrat Representatives. 4) A general reduction in overall leftward tilt in politics. Carly, Carly, Carly. The MSM's lovefest makes me sick. Carly doesn't just annoy me because she attacks Trump, she annoys me because she attacked Cruz for the govt shutdown, joined an "establishment group for immigration reform" in 2013, sold printers to Iran when there was a trade embargo and it was illegal (Boston Globe broke the story in 200, believes in global warming, supports Marxist wealth redistribution called cap and trade, praises Islam, and is an insider who backed McCain and Mitt. And that doesn't even include that I find her voice grating, her cadence annoying, and her face homely.
Oh, and she plays the gender card way too much -- in her much lauded comeback to Trump she said "women heard what he said", why just "women", why not "people"? Men were rushing to her defense over what Trump allegedly meant. Yet she only mentions people by gender. ugh. Posted by: Aslan's Girl at September 18, 2015 08:09 AM (xetep) 35

Have you bothered to look at Trump's record on any hot-button conservative issue (and by 'record' I mean his public statements over the years on abortion, taxes, gun control, opposition to Democratic policies, etc.)? Conservatives are backing Trump not because he's conservative--nothing in Trump's background indicates he is--but because Trump is combative and anti-Establishment. This conflicts with the late Bill Buckley's dictum to support the most electorally viable conservative candidate. Using Buckley's measure, that would mean supporting proven conservatives like Cruz or Jindal, for example. But no, you guys like Trump and call people RINOs and worse if they don't. >>Trump does Chapter 11 filings but always comes out on top.
What does come out on top mean? He kept his fortune by bankrupting failed investments? If so then Carly came out on top too. It's not like HP disappeared off the face of the earth. It suffered during the dot.com bust just like every other computer company including Apple. HP is a millstone largely because most people don't understand what was going on at HP, they just read headlines. It was a lot more complex situation than the headlines would suggest. Using Buckley's measure, that would mean supporting proven conservatives like Cruz or Jindal, for example.
And if Trump weren't in the race, the GOP-E would be directing the full force of their assault on Cruz. Posted by: V the K at September 18, 2015 08:42 AM (O7MnT) 91

But no, you guys like Trump and call people RINOs and worse if they don't. How does that work, exactly? Where's the logic? Tell it to President Romney. Oh wait, voting for the "most viable electable conservative candidate" worked out so swell last time. Posted by: rickb223 at September 18, 2015 08:45 AM (rIQuo) 95
Trump is not conservative. But he's the only one who has enough money to tell Chamber of Commerce and Wall Street to get lost.
And he loves America. And he's been who he is forever. And he makes the media and the establishment on bith sides lose their minds. That's why I'm cheering for him. Posted by: @votermom at September 18, 2015 08:45 AM (cbfNE) 96
Have you bothered to look at Trump's record on any hot-button conservative issue (and by 'record' I mean his public statements over the years on abortion, taxes, gun control, opposition to Democratic policies, etc.)?
Posted by: troyriser at September 18, 2015 08:33 AM (CMthJ) --------------------- If that was ever a factor, Romney should have never been nominated. Posted by: Make America Great Again at September 18, 2015 08:45 AM (LXJ1e) 97
I have 3 things I want to see in the Republican nominee. In a lose order of importance:
1. They can win the general election. 2. They are able to articulate the conservative position. 3. They have some track record of governing conservatively. Without 1, everything else is pointless (unless we're actively on the burn it down train with someone like Trump). Right now Carley his hitting well on the first two. 3 might be a problem, though. Carly Fiorengi's problems go beyond HP, although her tenure there was problematic at best. (Remember how the left went after Romney? Just wait until they start the ads from laid-off HP workers.)
Like Trump, she is taking more conservative positions now than she has in the past. She supported the TARP bailout. She supported the Spendulus (but only to the extent it sent billions into the industry she was a lobbyist for.) She supports the DREAM Act, and she wants the H1-B program expanded. She loved the Gang of 8 Bill. She also loves her some Hillary. https://youtu.be/6kbvfwV8rHQ Posted by: V the K at September 18, 2015 08:47 AM (O7MnT) 101

Posted by: MTF at September 18, 2015 08:45 AM (TxJGV) Maybe. The poor, poor Onion has enough trouble keeping up with reality. The thing on Maggies Farm that caught my eye was that people were objecting to words like "tolerance" as used in English, and why would a Muslim living in Munich write a petition in English? So I tracked it down. It's Friday and I'm at work. I have nothing better to do ;-) Posted by: Bandersnatch, Opus/Bill the Cat 2016 at September 18, 2015 08:50 AM (JtwS4) 107

That's why HP is still a millstone on her neck. Unlike Dems, who fail upward all the time, conservatives are skeptical.
Posted by: @votermom at September 18, 2015 08:38 AM (cbfNE) I've supported Fiorina from early on. Her account of her HP experience--the dot.com boom and bust years, the layoffs and downsizing, the slow and steady comeback, the behind-the-scenes Machiavellian maneuvering from executive rivals--is supported by the facts. She doesn't gloss it over. To tell the truth, I wouldn't care if Fiorina did fail at HP. Failure isn't an unforgiveablesin. Failure to learn from failure is. But hey, look at Trump: Trump learned that he could go bankrupt repeatedly, burn stakeholders, game the system, and do it all without consequences--without consequences to himself, of course. Investors weren'tnot so lucky.Neither were employees. Posted by: troyriser at September 18, 2015 08:52 AM (CMthJ) 109

Obama does not face east when he prays to the Great One, he faces a mirror.
He is whatever he needs to be to get himself something that he wants. He was foreign born when he wanted a free ride at Harvard. He was not American when he wanted to travel to Pakistan. He certainly was NOT Muslim when he wanted to light up. Posted by: JB1000 at September 18, 2015 08:55 AM (16OL0) 115
I have to say, watching the GOP process as a disinterested bystander is a lot more interesting than supporting any of the candidates.

If Trump weren't in the race perhaps he would be getting some airtime and not polling near the bottom of the pack. Nobody is holding Cruz back. He's just not getting the national traction I would hope he would. It's not a conspiracy, he's just not getting it done. Posted by: JackStraw at September 18, 2015 08:56 AM (OGm46) 117
