A Third Major Chemical Explosion In China?

The first blast, on August 13th in Tianjin, killed 158 people at last count (and that number is a little dated).

I hadn't seen this particular video of it. It's not new, but it may be new to you as it was to me.

Then, eight days ago on August 22nd, another blast occurred at a chemical plant in the Shandong province.

Now, today, there's another blast, this time in the Shandong province again.

Below is a video purporting to be of this latest blast. However, I kind of suspect this is actually video the first blast at Tianjin. Just seems kind of similar to me.

On the chance that this is legitimate new video, here it is:

Obviously, this all seems very strange.

61 The Chicom government's information control ops are fearsomely big and extremely aggressive and are not limited to their own media.

I recall back after the '08 Sichuan earthquake, when many school buildings in the region, typically multi-story if not practically high-rise, catastrophically collapsed. While neighboring buildings stayed up.

Articles appeared on Western Web sites which contained estimated casualty counts -- which were horrific -- and noted the lack of building codes for schools, and referenced the brazen corruption of the local authorities who built the schools.

The comments on those articles were absolutely flooded with obvious Chinese .gov sockpuppets, thousands of them, claiming that none of it was true, it was all Western agitprop, thumbs-downing all critical comments, flagging critical comments as "racist content", et cetera.

It went on for months until the Western media got bored of the story and the furor died down.

Describing dangerous temperature levels and dropping agricultural production, the news package brings in The Weather Channel's Heidi Cullen, who says, "There's about one billion people who are malnourished. That number just continually grows." The doomsday predictions for 2015 go further and include $12.00 for a gallon of milk and $9.00 a gallon for gasoline, if there is any gas at all that is left.

Perhaps a lot of end product manufacturing/construction and long lead item production/mining has been tamped down, way down. And as a result a lot of the chemical feed stocks needed for these stopped processes are just building up being unused. Party hacks hiding a massive halt in production, overloading storage facilities, using containers for long term storage that were only meant for fast production temp. storage, a combination of these sort of things.

Putting more hours and cycles on what is an extremely small fleet of those jets -- something like just over a hundred combat-coded airframes -- jets that are now out of production and irreplacable. Nothing else in the inventory can do what they can do.

So they're getting used for an absolutely routine peacetime mission that F-16s from Eielson AFB could easily come and take care of. And the F-22s are used in order to stroke Obama's already huge ego, one assumes. Like using the best china for the dinner guests.

130 years ago, I read a book by or about a Russian AF Col who defected to the west (in a brand new MIG) - I recall his name as Alexei Myakov.
Anyway, he mentioned that he and his wife were stationed at an AF base in Siberia. One night the new apt building they and the other offices etc lived in pretty much split in half - they first thought it was an earthquake, but it turned out the people who put up the building had stolen high quality materials for the black market and replaced the materials with much cheaper stuff. When someone asked why the local party officials couldn't investigate this and hand out punishment, the answer was basically, "don't be stupid, they were in on it."
I somehow doubt ChiCom party officials behave any better.

Gallup polled people around the world earlier this year and asked the simple enough question, "Would you fight for your country?"

Japan: ~10% affirmative.

China: ~90% affirmative.

The Japanese have some capably engineered weapons systems, but the Chinese are cranking out huge amounts of good-enough weapons. Simple, classic attrit-and-overwhelm strategic model. The PRC military will bear down hard and run the JSDF out of manpower and munitions.

199 Yeah...with Japan, ancient history is ancient. History is full of people being ducks to each other, from every people group and nation. while our history with the native Americans was no where near as bad as libs want to make it, it was kinda pretty bad. The germans had a history of warfare in europe, and of genocide, but they have a standing army today. Do you look at the past or current behavior? Certainly, past behavior can be indicative but it is not determinative.

Posted by: lurkingestlurker at August 31, 2015 06:56 PM (qMqAy)

200 That would be a piss poor use of sabotage to go after chemical plants.

The hydroelectric dams are where it's at for sabotage in China.

Several well placed bombs with explosions coordinated for maximum flood production would pretty much end Chinese production capacity and infrastructure within a few hours.

No nukes necessary.

Also, the Japanese are barely keeping the Chinese from seizing their southernmost islands and in some cases aren't able to-

so they wouldn't be trying to start something now.

They know King Putz would leave them out to dry.

202 Maybe it's like one version of getting Osama ... "hey Barack, fyi, our men are getting bin Laden, maybe you want to break from your party and come in the situation room? We would have told you sooner but generals were afraid you'd cancel the raid again" heh

three accidents ... not sure how that helps their stock market, so inside job seems less likely. Who would insure these guys? Maybe big layoffs were coming, so they went out with a bang. Must be some good ideas from those that know China, on who might do this deliberately.

Obama would say Climate change?

If he didn't, Otis Redding did.

Sittin' in the mornin' sun

I'll be sittin' when the shock wave comes

Watchin' the ships roll in

Then I watch 'em fireball again, yeah

I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay

Watchin' it all get blown away

I'm just sittin' on the dock of the bay

Dodgin' stuff

204 John McCain, seven years ago: "Gosh darn it, I just don't have any idea how all of this this newfangled hornswoggled e-mail stuff works. I leave all of it up to my aides."

The left, seven years ago: "Can you believe that Grandpa Simpson here really thinks he can be a 21st century President without any comprehension of 21st century technology? He needs to be in a museum, not the White House. And we need a younger, clued-in, tech-savvy leader as President."

Hillary Clinton, today: "Gosh darn it, I just don't have any idea how all of this newfangled hornswoggled e-mail stuff works. I leave all of it up to my aides."

The left, today: "She really represents the ageless wisdom of a simpler, better time. Before technology had cluttered and overcomplicated our lives. She's like a tribal wise woman whose sage advice we should all heed."

210 That last video is definitely an old video of the Tianjin explosion. It was one of the first ones that got put up.

212 Serious question: is this actually different from business as usual over there? How many big industrial accidents do they typically have in a month in China?

Maybe these are just getting reported because there's some kind of palace intrigue going on in Peking, and Someone at the state media wants the current leadership to look bad . . .

I'm not buying into State saying that over 100 emails have been "upgraded" into a classified status. What was the status when they were mailed from a secure US Government server to various recipients? Chopped liver?

I call this happy talk BS in an attempt to mitigate the damage to Sir Edmund's campaign. What will these prevaricating pricks stop lying to the American people?

DoS will continue to lie, and only the FBI will get to the bottom of this misfeasance and malfeasance. Will O'Bama permit DOJ to indict, or will it be covered up as is the normal method for adjudication of crimes.

Also, anyone convicted of a like or similar offense should be permitted to file to have their convictions overturned based upon "equal justice for all."

217 China is the perfect storm for potential disasters . Tremendous amount of new construction, all on a rush basis; low skill, poorly paid and uneducated construction labor ; high levels of corruption in business and politics; a non transparent government that values stability (no panic) over giving out information to save lives. It's geographically susceptible to disasters anyway and when they occur the casualties will be higher.
Plus they've got a lot of restive Muslims. Not that that has anything to do with explosions. But the Tibetan Buddhists are notoriously prone to violence.

218 Right after the Tianjin explosion we had the chemical explosion in Texas. A few days later a big kaboom at a base we have in Japan.

Hmmmm.

225 For the record, I worked in the chemical industry and visited Asia. Asians have a different attitude towards chemical safety that leads to these types of incidents. Most of these explosions are caused by improper handling and storage procedures, which Asians ignore if they feel like it. The calcium carbide that was likely responsible for these incidents, should never be stored near most other chemicals since it is water reactive and produces acetylene when fire fighters spray water on it. Things like ammonium nitrate and potassium nitrate make nice oxiders when mixed with said acetylene and thrown into the air in a fireball. This is a good way to experience urban renewal in a nice demonstration of the power of chemistry. No nukes or sabotage required, just stupidity!
