The current problem with Immigration law is NOT the Law... its the Courts.

The laws if enforced would be just fine... its the Courts who keep saying you can't ENFORCE the laws...

Like, the law saying Non Citizens can't get State resources... which were once on the books of most states...

Or the Law that says its a FELONY to knowingly aid and abet an illegal to stay in this country.

Or the Law that said there was no dual citizenship.... hell, its still in the oath, but the COURTS have said the oath means nothing... they can still keep their other citizenship....

The first thing we need to do? Fix the Courts... because they are currently unaccountable to the people... and so make silly decisions.

I thought of another similarity between the Left and Palestinian terrorists and all muslim terrorists.

You know how the Left will sneak a small group of people in, say, a Republican event, and then one will disrupt the event, get thrown out, and then another will stand up and do the same, and so on?

That's pretty the same exact tactic as setting off one explosive device, waiting for the rescueers to arrive and then setting off another explosive device, and another.

Howdy, Mike. Had a good TR6 day today. Finsished the floor repair welding by welding on 4 captive nuts to attach the driver's seat. (passenger side already done) Vacuumed out a bunch of debris, and painted the entire floor with POR-15. Pinhole-rusted areas that didn't merit cutting and welding got a patch of fiberglass cloth stuck into the sticky POR-15, and glommed down with more of the same. That really stiffens up a "soft" floor, and even looks quite presentable. Tomorrow, once the POR-15 dries, I can begin to reassemble the interior. And I didn't get any on me!

221 Global warmening.

I was at a restaurant for breakfast with my wife, and they happened to have a copy of today's New York Times. While waiting to be seated, read from the Front page article on how the Russkis are grabbing the Arctic, especially since there is more open water now and such. Because of global warmening. Obviously.

And frankly, what a load of hogwash. There is plenty of open source data that shows no decline in the Arctic ice pack.

A) Never dip your brush into the can of poly. Always pour it out into a cup and work from that.

B) Coat, dry, sand with fine grit sandpaper. Wipe clean to remove all dust (very important), then repeat as many times as you need to get the thickness you want.

Running on memory here, but there was an excellent furniture book:

http://preview.tinyurl.com/qfb8kje

that had a lot to say about finishes. The part I remember was something to the effect that you could mix a lot of mineral spirits into varnish and then scrub it on and it would settle run and bubble free. I tried in on a couple of pieces in my youth and the finishes were fantastic (at least to my eyes). A good spar varnish applied this way might do the trick. I think he also recommended sealing the raw wood with shellac cut pretty substantially with alcohol. I would recommend you try to find the book.

Another thing you could do is use polyfoam "brush" instead of a bristle brush. I've found that those work better to make a smooth and clean surface with polyurethane than a bristly brush. And they're cheap, you throw them away after you're done.

You might be picking up dust and dipping it back into your can of poly, which will suspend in the can and go on with every coat. Try switching out to a new cup for every coat.

I also like to use foam brushes or chip brushes that I can throw away between coats. Keeping contaminants down helps keep the glaze as clear as possible.

And though they see the humans as their new mother, since they cant spend 24/7 with them, there is a whole lot of crying. It's sad. 315 Tin Foil,

That's nation wide thanks to EPA. Nearly all oil base stuff that hasn't been driven from the market is under rules that allow sale only to shops with a letter on file showing full ventilation.

The irony is that removing the toughest paint from the market makes it much more difficult to maintain older homes with lead based paint that is now a huge EPA priority.

I would bet a lot of money that the nameless, faceless mid-level bureaucrats who made that decision did not bother to research or consider how banning those paints would impact other things - it was probably prompted by some activist org's lobbying and/or scare story and little else.

399 "Who's in charge of security in New Orleans?" I asked.

My question silenced the raucous discussion in the Air Force One conference room on Friday, September 2, 2005. "The governor is in charge," Mayor Ray Nagin said, pointing across the dark wood table at Governor Kathleen Blanco.

Every head pivoted in her direction. The Louisiana governor froze. She looked agitated and exhausted. "I think it's the mayor," she said non-committally.

...

The tone started out tense and got worse. The governor and mayor bickered. Everyone blasted the Federal Emergency Management Agency for failing to meet their needs. Congressman Bobby Jindal pointed out that FEMA had asked people to email their requests, despite the lack of electricity in the city. I shook my head. "We'll fix it," I said, looking at FEMA director Mike Brown. Senator Mary Landrieu interrupted with unproductive emotional outbursts. "Would you please be quiet?" I had to say to her at one point.

I asked to speak to Governor Blanco privately. We walked out of the conference room, through a narrow passageway, and into the small cabin at the front tip of Air Force One. I told her it was clear the state and local response forces had been overwhelmed. "Governor," I pressed, "you need to authorize the federal government to take charge of the response."

She told me she needed twenty-four hours to think it over.

"We don't have twenty-four hours," I snapped. "We've waited too long already."

The governor refused to give an answer.
