And I don't think for a minute the classified heading was stripped off before sending it to Hillary. More likely they stripped off the heading after this whole thing came to light and someone actually asked them if they had classified information on an insecure server. In the Nineties, the FBI found itself saddled by the Clinton administration with Jamie Gorelick's ridiculous lawfare "wall" which prevented them from sharing counterterrorist information properly with the rest of the federal apparatus.
Then, after 9/11, the FBI found that they were in the process of being scapegoated over a Clintonian policy they hadn't wanted in the first place.
Clinton nominee George Tenet over at the Agency was quietly pointing a finger at the Bureau and slyly saying, "Well, gosh, we at the CIA just aren't _allowed_ to pursue suspects domestically, but there sure are some people who are _supposed_ to do that stuff, hmmmmmm? That's their _job_, isn't it?"
And the 9/11 Commission members (including Clintonite hacks such as, again, Gorelick) ended up in a pretty deep and serious internal debate about essentially decertifying and dismantling the Bureau as unfit for purpose, and parceling out its law enforcement functions to other federal organs.
It was really only due to a full court press by Robert Mueller to lobby the Commission, and give them unprecedented cooperation and access to Bureau records, that the FBI survived that whole arduous process.
But institutionally, the FBI have to still remember that the Clintons nearly ended up destroying them. They hence will have few friends, if any, inside the Bureau.

Daily we are barraged with "scandals" many orders of magnitude more serious.

While it may be wishful thinking I don't agree that it would have happened by now if it was going to happen for a couple reasons. First, the investigators are going to want to see how deep this rabbit hole goes. Better to keep all the players swinging in anticipation before they are ready to pounce.
And second, if you are going to go after the king, you have to kill the king. I'm sure they want to build as overwhelming a case as possible before going public with what they have.

I am not sure. Arresting her will be a HUGE deal and they have to have the whole Clinton web untangled and their shit straight prior to doing this. I have never heard of the FBI launching an investigation like this unless they are pretty sure there is big criminal action involved. reasons. First, the investigators are going to want to see how deep this
rabbit hole goes. Better to keep all the players swinging in

Recently read a piece by a former Secret Service Agent that was assigned to Hillary's detail. He said that the agents loved the way that Hillary, Huma and gang expected them to carry their luggage for them from hotels to cars. He said that they would offer to hold the door open for them and that was all. He also said that there is a general rule with the agents that if you are being assigned to Hillary's detail, you have pissed off someone and are being punished.

I do take some hope out of the fact that, if true, the FBI has confirmed and investigation. Seems like if DOJ was going to abort this heinous monster, it would have done so at the embryonic stage.

I think it's just reprehensible when reporters have to ask people how they feel when their loved ones are gunned down "How do you think they freaking feel,you bozos?"" and particular when they do it for a agenda. Media ghouls do it all the time. They did it a lot after the CT school shooting

Ignatius' father, I think, was first-generation Agency guy, back when it was created. I think. He should have wider/better contacts than Jeff Smith, real long-time intel community types, not Hill transplants.
Anyway, surprised Smith would make such cavalier and non-credible statements. No, it's not routine for classified, esp. SCI, to be handled in any normal way.
Ignatius is a puzzlement. Extremely nice guy, not stupid in the conventional sense, and while he did exhibit a lot of Beltway Lightweight tendencies back when I last read him (early 2000s), he was never just a hack, like most of them.
