Family Member Tells Don Lemon That Shaun King is 100% White; King Won't Answer Question About Whether His Parents Are Both White

Well, so, after Breitbart reported that both his parents were white, a family member confirms that both his parents are in fact white, and apparently Shaun King would not directly answer that question when asked about it by Don Lemon. The good news for King is that he's probably led a distorted life having to maintain this fiction and, however bad it will be for him at the moment (and it will get quite bad), when he emerges from this, he'll be able to live a simpler life, clean of any need to maintain a falsehood. So, this is all very tough on Shaun King, but ultimately, he'll be disburdened of the heavy weight he's been carrying. As to why he claimed this: As with Rachel Dolezal, I can't imagine the lie was told to get some particular advantage (though, in both cases, I'm sure they enjoyed the advantages that came with being from a Privileged Class -- contrast this with Elizabeth Warren, who claimed to be Indian as far as career advancement went, but otherwise dressed and presented herself as what she was, a 100% white woman ). I think they both really, really wanted to be black, and identified, psychologically, as black, and so, at the end of the day, just decided: Hey, I'm black. Which raises the same questions of self-willed identity that came up with "Caitlyn" Jenner: Are you a woman just because you say you feel you're a woman and have taken steps to seem more like a woman? And if so: Are you not black if you honestly feel like you're black and have taken steps to make yourself appear, superficially, black? Why does a different rule obtain in the two cases, as the left would claim? Either we are entirely free to conjure up our own identities and biographies per our "feelings," or we are restricted by the happenstances of our birth and genetics as to our choice in such matters. But it cannot be the case that Caitlyn Jenner is a woman, just because transpeople are currently popular with the left, but Shaun King is not black, just because black activists on the left don't feel like a white man (or white woman) can become black via a hairstyle.*
* There's also the Authenticity of Free-Willed Choice at play. Parents of adopted children will often say, "I love you as much as any natural children; keep in mind that, unlike natural children, which were chosen for us, we chose you." Many people were born black, but only a few affirmatively decide to become black. Does that not make Shaun King authentically black? The left dodges these questions by claiming, preposterously, that as white people, Dolezal and King didn't have the history of persecution that real black people did. But that's nonsense. Given that they live as "black people" and make themselves look like black people, why would they not suffer any of that same persecution that all other black people are claimed to? And once again, remember the Authenticity of Adoption argument: Whereas many black people might suffer discrimination, Dolezal and King choose to suffer discrimination (or, as much as actually exists, anyway). I'm not really claiming they're black; they are what they are. They're white people who choose to be black, to the extent they can. I'm just continuing to delight in the left's slap-happy Humpty Dumpty inconsistency on the idea of adopted identity.

This would be largely unimportant except when someone who is so obviously of the genetic race (like Ben Carson or Herman Cain) stands athwart the left's idea of proper views for blacks and says "No", then they feel free to attack. Saying that these black men are not real black men because they don't wear the proper cultural markers that define blackness in their eyes (i.e. progressive politics).
It's also important because it means the left and right end up talking right past each other on matters of race. The right isn't talking about race when it talks about modern gangster culture in the black community, but the left is. So, any critique of Dr. Dre's music becomes an attack on black authenticity because it's cultural markers that define blackness and not the actual genetic makeup of a person.

I was thinking about this vis-a-vis Jenner. What if a man wants to identify as a woman, but doesn't want to go with any of the cisnormative trappings such as longer hair, makeup, shaved body parts, breasts, genitals or feminine behavior.
Forget everything else, can a man simply say "I identify as a woman" and have that be sufficient, absent any other change? I would think so.

On the one hand, they hold race to be this all important thing that drives everything from every little interpersonal interaction to every piece of legislation in the country.
But, at the same time, they so blithely discard any serious definition of it in favor of wishy-washy categorizations that put emphasis on things other than those that would most likely lead to actual discrimination (like, say, skin color is less important than ideology when determining someone's blackness).

I have biracial nephews, and also a niece, and they generally identify as black. With at least one of them, you couldn't really tell what he is - he said somebody once asked him how he got such a nice tan, and replied "That's just the color I am."
Their parents' are leftists, and so deciding to identify that way is to assume the status of Victimhood in that world, and to adopt the attitude that you need never try to succeed - that you can always blame whitey for your woes.
One of them is in jail for going into people's houses and taking their stuff (electronics). Another is getting a PolySci degree, and works for Obama's OFA. The third is a drug-addled loser who has rarely been able to hold a job for more than 6 months. The niece works for Big Government, as a teacher, and seems to have adopted that mantle of biracialness, because it makes her feel more special.
I'm actually not sure if the niece is a biological niece - the math seemed to suggest that my brother was at sea when she was conceived, so, yeah - I wouldn't put so much stock in what this guy's birth certificate says, or in who his parents were, growing up. Look at this guy's NOSE, for cryin' out loud!

A very close friend of mine has made an entire successful career out of this exact scam.
She is Jewish. Just flat-out Jewish in every way. Ethnicity, religion, name, everything.

So when she graduated from high school she legally adopted her stepdad's last name, and from that moment on has lived and presented herself professionally and academically as "Hispanic."
I'll skip the details, but her career has been accelerated massively due to this identification. She basically calls the shots - -she can pick and chose any high-status company to work for, and they grovel at her feet in gratitude. She's quite high up the professional ladder at this point.
And she's quote shameless about it. She openly discusses how she's playing them.
It's the main thorn in our relationship, frankly, but she doesn't know it.

But ... it does matter to them. Because exept for some of the membership, none of this is about black violence. Its about getting black voters so upset and riled up they're willing to vote even for Hillary Clinton.
They know they can't expect the same turnout and excitement without Obama in the race, so this is a way of generating at least outrage.

It's basically a straw man trick.
If we disagree about definitions, it is a semantics debate. I don't see why that should elevate to accusations of racial supremacism.

Sure. There are enough personality issues to contend with for adoptees before you even get into cultural differences when it's a mixed race family.
There are a lot of outlets to assist with this. Have a friend who adopted to Asian kids and she has them participate in orgs that cater to Asian adoptees (camps, dinners, stuff like that). Also have a friend who adopted a black kid from a 16 year old in the same town, and it's an open adoption, so the kid's mom, grandparents, etc. are now part of family celebrations.
Adoption is never easy, but loving families can make it work if given the chance. Beats the alternative...

The gub'mint at least used to buy large quantities of food for food programs, both to hand out to needy people and to provide essentially price supports to farmers. Somehow the cheese became famous back in the... '80's, right? The feds apparently had more than they knew what to do with, and were handing it out to folks on food stamps and other assistance programs in these ginormous blocks, about the size of a piece of Kraft singles but maybe 18" long, like you see in delis. I remember the local news stories showing long lines outside the main food banks, and people saying they just didn't know how they'd make ends meet without that big old block of cheese.
I remember as a kid being sort of shocked that a block of cheese could be the difference between life and death. We didn't have much money, but it never came down to a block of cheese. At some point the cheese giveaways must've stopped, but there weren't mass die-offs, so I guess the situation wasn't as bad as was suggested.

Doleezal is informative. I did not call you a cuck, Ace. I called her parents it, and again it's genuinely hard for me to see how the accusation doesn't carry weight with them. I'm being sincere here, I can't help it - unless we're being willfully obtuse I have a hard time not seeing it with Doleezal's biography.
It looks to me like her parents really gave her issues. I imagine that as a young girl she grew up having to compete for the interest and attention of her own parents, who seem to spend most of it on people who were not their child. And, in the pudding proof sense, to the point where they gave their child identity issues where she's now pretending to be trans-black. Not because they didn't defend the white race enough. Just because they made their daughter literally and psychologically self loathing.
This issue is embedded in the structure of liberal moral preening. There is an insecurity in being white. The parents signal their virtue by disassociating themselves with it - they prove they are good people because they went to help poor people in Africa. That shows they are good people.
So a little white girl sees this. She sees that what is good is helping black people, the way you signal your value is helping black people. Her parents are always running off on her and helping black people on foreign continents. They adopted 3 black children but had only 1 of their own (white) children. She sees that, in the pious liberal household, the black people get the help, the concern, the attention.
And she grows up wanting to be black.
Maybe because she wants her parents to pay more attention to her.
I am not a psychiatrist. This is armchair analysis. But I have a hard time seeing this as coincidence. The "cuck" issue makes many people quite uncomfortable but I can't help it, it honestly is the first thing to come to mind when I read the bio of Rachel Doleezal and her white racial activist parents, that there is probably some 'there' there.

1) They really don't care.
2) They recognize that the scam is valuable to their child's career, and care more about that than the truth.
3) They don't want to advertise the truth - that the mom was a sleeze, and had sex with some biracial guy while she was married to a white guy, or some such thing.
Personally, I'd bet on #3, especially since King as much as said that. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that is NOT the nose of a white guy. He's got the "just one drop" thing going on - with his BIOLOGICAL father.

Remember, there's nothing like an objective, scientific definition of "race" in the same way that there's an objective, scientific definition of "gender." Yes, our notions of race are *based* in certain objective characteristics, but literally everything that's interesting about race boils down to how society treats people with those characteristics; race is thus LITERALLY "socially constructed" the way Leftists claim gender is "socially constructed."
To put it a different way: We know that different societies treat race and gender very differently. But we haven't yet discovered a society where men menstruate and give birth to babies. Gender can thus be reduced to objective, neutral facts in a way that race cannot. Assuming that human beings originated in Africa, then we're all "African" to one degree or another; thus "race" only matters to the degree that "society" decides that it matters -- it actually IS "socially constructed." We're not all "women" to one degree or another. A person born with XY chromosomes is *categorically* not female; he will NEVER be capable of giving birth, no matter how much he alters his speech, mannerisms, or physical appearance. But a white person who pretends to be black is still "African" in a real, if very diluted, sense: If you go back far enough on their family tree, you'll find "African" ancestors. We just classify whites as "not-African" purely as a matter of social convention. This is shown by the fact that different societies draw the line between "African" and "not-African" in radically different ways.
So if we're to accept that "gender" is "socially constructed" -- that "gender" only matters with respect to how we as a society treat gender, and thus a man can become a woman through will alone -- there ought to be no rational basis for rejecting "transracial" people. What they're doing is far more defensible.
The only consistent defense I can come up with is a completely crass one. You could say that since this is all a bunch of bullshit anyway, Leftists are free to reject "transracialism" and accept "transgenderism" purely because one is helpful to them politically while the other is not. If it's ALL just politics, then you could argue that the only relevant criteria is "what's useful to us from a political standpoint?" I haven't heard any Leftists make that argument, but it's the only defensible one I can think of.

But gender is binary. "Mixed-gender" people are never wholly functional. That's why clear binary gender identity is wired in the brain. And because of that, in cases of genuine gender dysphoria the victim really does feel wrongly embodied. Jenner appears to be one such.
No such wired-in "race identity" can exist, and therefore no one has an internal race identity that conflicts with his actual appearance. King, Dolezal, and similar fakers may be acting out some other psychological pathology, or just running a hustle.
It should be noted that in the U.S., "black" identity was artificially made into a pseudo-binary construct of grotesquely exaggerated importance. NAACP leader Walter White easily passed for white, but chose to identify as black - which white racists of his time would have agreed with, because he did have a proven trace of African ancestry.
