Announcing his possible candidacy Tuesday, Lessig explained in a video that he is leading by example through raising the money via crowdfunding, thereby handing the power back to the people. He is running on one core principle: citizen equality. Lessig believes that money and power have for too long corrupted America's political system, giving elections to the highest bidder and silencing the citizens' voice.

It's a three-fold plan under his proposed Citizen Equality Act of 2017 -- equal freedom to vote, equal representation, and citizen funded elections. His campaign website explains:

The core principle of representative democracy is that we are all equal citizens. Corruption creates 2nd class citizens. The Citizen Equality Act of 2017 would fix that, and a referendum president would have the mandate to pass it. Once it is passed, we could begin to rebuild a democracy that inspires free people everywhere, and gives us a government that works again.

11 A black City councilman in Winston-Salem, NC want to change the name of an event they have there called the Dixie Classic Fair. He finds the word "Dixie" to be offensive. What is amazing to me is this dumb turd lives in the South and has no clue as to where the term Dixie originated and it has nothing to do with the civil war or slavery. The most likely origin has always been that it arose in New Orleans from the nickname of their 10-dollar bill, which was called a "Dix" which is French for ten. Of course there are other claimants but they have nothing to do with the civil war.

Levin read a lengthy letter to the editor from one of the local papers by someone in the industry who has dealt with the EPA extensively.

At the very least, it's gross negligence by EPA. But there is a pattern to what they do and don't forget, the EPA under this administration wants to shut down coal mining, oil exploration, regulate CO2 and are at the tip of the spear of this commie "degrowth movement."

159 Anybody see the meteor shower in the Northeast early this morning? I I got up about 3:00 and went to sit outside. You could see a meteor every fifteen minutes or so including a very large one about 3:45. It was beautiful. So glad that I got to see it this year because last year was completely overcast.

Tonight is supposed to be the best night for viewing.

IANA nukular engineer, but as I understand it, those really low-yield devices are basically on-purpose fizzles, where the reaction doesn't self-sustain properly. I believe they're called sub-critical explosions. As I recall, some of the underground tests of the Norks/ Indians/Pakistanis were likely fizzles due to unexpectedly low yields, probably caused by getting it almost-but-not-quite right. You can get those failures for a variety of reasons, from impurities in uranium that stunt the chain reaction by absorbing neutrons, to asymmetric implosions in plutonium-based bombs. (Okay, not a nuclear scientist but a physics degree with a casual interest in the subject.)

Jimmy Carter's like a big white rock in the flower garden that you lift up and then all of these disgusting creepy crawlies come skittering out from underneath.
