5 I got to listen to the odious Byron York on the radio this morning. He was saying that debate comments and stuff "takes time to sink in" and so polls done a couple of days after the debate don't accurately reflect things.

I think he meant "it takes time for us to propagandize and mischaracterize things that people we don't like, such as Trump, said so we can shape the election."

I fucking hate Michael Savage and the bootlicker subs he has on his show, but one of the subs did say something that's hard to argue with...the Fox debate was more about promoting the Fox personalities than it was about letting the candidates speak.

AZ Court Rejects Taxpayers Pay for Union Workers

$2 million dollars to cops-turned-labor-reps is 'disproportionate'

An Arizona court struck down taxpayer funding for union work on Tuesday, dealing a blow to public sector unions.

The Arizona Court of Appeals unanimously ruled that the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association (PLEA) wrongfully used taxpayer dollars to pay union representatives who had ceased to perform the duties of their government jobs in order to serve their labor representatives.

41 More Sweden? Orga borga booga borg

I know that Sweden's Cold War posture was more of a tripwire thing to begin with. In speaking with a Ranger there, he said the army's job in the event of a Russian invasion was not to so much fight as it was to immediately fade into the countryside and secure various caches, then lead in guerilla efforts, awaiting the expected NATO reprisals, and link up with allies as they come. He also said those caches are still extent.

People who are

mess started with Megyn Kelly asking a stupid, irrelevant question. She,
and her fellow "reporters," could have avoided the whole miserable mess
so easily.

But, I am told, had she not been free to act like a

50 The GOPe Tripwires Continue -- Despite Campaign Trouble Rick Perry Must Be Kept In The Race...

The GOPe roadmap to elect Jeb was created in 2014 with KEY STATES and key state vote splitters. They are: South Carolina (Lindsey Graham), Ohio (John Kasich), Texas (Rick Perry), and Florida (Marco Rubio) -- After the initial map was created, and because 2015 polling showed a safety margin was needed, further insurance policies were purchased in Virginia (Jim Gilmore) and New York (George Pataki).

...

The plan is for the "splitter team" (Graham, Kasich, Christie, Perry, Gilmore, Pataki, Huckabee, Santorum and Fiorina) to gobble up delegates in dribs and drabs, until they can deposit them in Jeb's bucket, with endorsements after Jeb's victory in Florida.

How I Helped Todd Akin Win -- So I Could Beat Him Later
By SEN. CLAIRE MCCASKILL

It was August 7, 2012, and I was standing in my hotel room in Kansas City about to shotgun a beer for the first time in my life. I had just made the biggest gamble of my political career--a $1.7 million gamble--and it had paid off. Running for reelection to the U.S. Senate as a Democrat from Missouri, I had successfully manipulated the Republican primary so that in the general election I would face the candidate I was most likely to beat. And this is how I had promised my daughters we would celebrate.

But first let me go back to the beginning.

...

Using the guidance of my campaign staff and consultants, we came up with the idea for a "dog whistle" ad, a message that was pitched in such a way that it would be heard only by a certain group of people. I told my team we needed to put Akin's uber-conservative bona fides in an ad---and then, using reverse psychology, tell voters not to vote for him. And we needed to run the hell out of that ad. ...

A Democratic campaign vet wants you to know they're totes 'fraid of K/R:

WSJ: The Five Plausible GOP Candidates By William A. Galston

Two sitting senators ( Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz), two sitting governors ( Scott Walker and John Kasich), and a former governor ( Jeb Bush). They represent a choice among very different persons, but also, and more fundamentally, between competing strategies for the future of the Republican Party.

From a Democratic standpoint, a moderate-conservative Republican ticket representing the two largest swing states would be cause for concern. In fact, Bush-Kasich would be scary, and Kasich-Rubio even more so.

87 41 More Sweden? Orga borga booga borg

I know that Sweden's Cold War posture was more of a tripwire thing to begin with. In speaking with a Ranger there, he said the army's job in the event of a Russian invasion was not to so much fight as it was to immediately fade into the countryside and secure various caches, then lead in guerilla efforts, awaiting the expected NATO reprisals, and link up with allies as they come. He also said those caches are still extent.
Posted by: Bigby's Shadow Puppets at August 12, 2015 08:20 AM (3ZtZW)

This doesn't really work in the case of Gotland. The Russkies can just "borrow" it for the amount of time it takes to invade Latvia/Estonia/Lithuania, then leave when they're established. By the time the Swedes get NATO off their asses the crisis will have moved to the Baltics.

Unauthorized Immigrants Take Government Posts, Telemundo Cheers

If there was any doubt about whether or not unauthorized immigrants take positions away from U.S. citizens, it was just dispelled when the City Council of Huntington Park, California decided to appoint two unauthorized immigrants to serve on two separate city commissions. The tone on Telemundo was celebratory, as the two new city commissioners were featured on the network's national evening newscast, as well as invited for what amounted to a 'victory lap' interview on the network's morning show.

From the Santa Gertrudis Breeders International website:

"The first and perhaps the most enduring efforts to produce the rugged breed began in 1910 when the King Ranch decided to systematically crossbreed its Shorthorn and Hereford cattle with Brahman.

After a few crosses, the Brahman X Shorthorn cross showed the most promise, and the ranch headed toward a cross of 3/8 Brahman and 5/8 Shorthorn as the optimum blend of the two breeds."

112 RE "The Subsidy paradox"

That chart omits or overlooks a lot of other issues. The CPI ALL is really not all. They omit food and fuel. Real inflation has been much higher. Housing prices are normally a better judge of real inflation but the lower prices we are seeing now are artificially low because of the Obama Depression. The average, and used to be, middle class person can not afford a house right now.

I will agree that for the "long run" going back to 1980 college tuition has outstripped other costs. But right now real inflation is probably around 20% if you throw in groceries. Obama minions are lying about inflation and unemployment.

In any case, Scankles "free college" program has about as much chance of passing congress as me getting nominated to be President,

Yes, I've seen that several times. It's funny, but I don't like it as much. Haley Mills missing is a handicap although Susan Saint James is good. And oddly enough, I feel sad when Rosalind Russell says "You'll find things have changed around here too" and the nuns are out of their long habits into shorter more hip ones. I guess that's because i know that every piece on a older nun's habit had spiritual significance and it seems to be a loss.
Do get "The Trouble With Angels", MPPP. It's well made, mixing humor with pathos, the acting is very good and it's clean family fun and a positive emphasis on faith and traditions I am just amazed at what a very fine actress Rosalind Russell was. She just does so much with a look or a pause. I just saw it again last week, and FS said "That's really a great movie, isn't it?" Ida Lupino directed it.

This is of course also an indictment of shitty browser design and badly thought through OS integration. It's ridiculous that malware in a Web page ad should ever even be able to do anything inimical to a system.

IMO, it wouldn't matter who Hewitt likes or doesn't like if he kept his damn mouth shut about it. His job is/should be to ask the questions that reveal what a candidate might do if elected, not to anal-probe him. Or her.

That is where Megyn fell flat on her cute little face. She confused her own, personal, petty little agenda with what the audience needed to know. And she didn't even have the chops of a Jerry Springer. She just sounded like a whiny little tw*t.

Yup. The crime of it is, if they got their head right about their business model, offering a-la-cart programming instead of cramming 300 stupid channels down your throat, they might be viable. This was SUPPOSED to be the way cable was going to be deployed, helping rural people stay informed. The second they got clearance from the FCC, the model changed to bundled plans. And now, they can't back out of it. I'd get cable, if I could get the 3 channels we would watch.

So you've said. I have a different view.

The press has let Obama and the Progressives get away with never being vetted, and I am happy this right is doing it differently.

Trump was quoted, and not out of context either. Even he acknowledged that fact. Quoted. In context.

He answered the questions, and pretty well too. Supporters may not like hearing about the blemishes but you need to in order to make an informed choice.

So my hope is Trump supporters will get over the ridiculously over-the-top butthurt; its unseemly to criticize the MSM for not going after Hilldogger and yet be unwilling to have Fox go after Trump.

" After all, the price of higher education can only keep rising if people somehow keep finding money to pay for it. And it is the loans and grants that provide most of that money."

I don't get why people don't see this. But it's not just direct gov't money it's all those other ways parent's can save for college... and it's not just parents it's also grandparents. I contribute to 4 each 529 plans one for each of my grand kids. I know this contributes to the problem but people don't look at that way on an individual basis. You still want the best for your family even though you understand if everyone else does the same the schools just raise tuition and. Nothing has changed.
