Good Morning Morons. Today is Wednesday, August 12, 2015. On this day in 1935 Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act, creating a government pension system for the retired. That entire statement is BS. The SS system was never really intended to be a "pension" system for the retired. His original intent for this ponzi scheme was to create an instant tax increase. It was set up originally as a somewhat retirement type scheme in that you had to work at least three quarters and pay into the system (both you and your employer). Now even this is no longer true thanks to the Democrats. When SSDI was added it became even worse. And in 1935 in the middle of the Great Depression if there was one thing the country did not need it was another tax.

Victims of Palestinian terrorism are fired up that Obama has intervened in their court case against the Palestinian authority in their civil suit which they have won a massive verdict. I personally am against these kinds of trials where US citizen sue foreign entities in US courts because I am again foreigners suing US entities in their courts. And if there was ever a definition of a shark law firm it is Sokolow. But, be that as it may, everything the DOJ and the DOS said in court was absolute BS. This "payout" will essentially come from the US government (and the taxpayers) since we have been paying the PA millions upon millions for years.

Something I warned about last year amid all the black on white gang violence in malls and parks. When the authorities fail to do their jobs in controlling mob behavior due to PC crap vigilantes will step in. Well, it has started in Ferguson and it will not turn out so well. And the "authorities" of course are not happy.

Amazing; more fraud by government officials. And this one is absolutely crazy. These were highly paid government employees in Prince Georges County MD. They underreported their income, in some cases saying no income at all, so their kids could get reduced price meals at school (more welfare). These folks have jeopardized a high paying job to save nickels and dimes for school lunch. This is what happens in any welfare system. Eventually the fraud and abuse takes over the program completely. This was only 5 people here but I would wager if the program were audited across the country the fraud and abuse would be at least half of the program.

And there is something else that causes fraud and abuse; over regulation by government. What does that cause? bribery. This is one of things that has caused major damage to the economies in the third world and helps to maintain them as shit-holes. We are headed in that direction.

Amazing what happens when the government violates the constitution in search of nebulous "civil rights".
The Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights has a mess on its hands: It's conducting 148 investigations at 129 universities that may have mishandled sexual assault grievances and that number is going up, not down. First off, the feds have zero authorities for "sex abuse" at local State institutions. There is NOTHING in the civil rights act that makes a sex crime some kind of discrimination. Second off, these same State institutions should not be doing their own "investigations". Any allegations of sex abuse should be turned over to local police for investigation and prosecution where warranted. http://fxn.ws/1IK3vOX Posted by: Vic at August 12, 2015 06:15 AM (GpgJl) Posted by: Vic at August 12, 2015 06:16 AM (GpgJl) 15

Trump says he is open to continuing to fund "the good aspects of PP". So I guess he is just as prone to Perry in making stupid statements. There are two problems here. First givernment funding of PP was never supposed to go toward abortions to begin with. But as we know, all money is fungible regardless of the target. Second, after what we have looked at lately, PP does very little else but abortions.

There is no way the DNC will allow Bernie Sanders to run. They need to have their Marxism on the down-low. Then again, this is 2015, not 1965. But it would be very interesting to see the Democrat establishment do the same thing to an outsider what the GOP-e does all the time to Conservatives. Yeah, the bits and pieces of each are somewhat different, but it is still the establishment wanting to take out someone they don't want. Forgetting ideology, Bernie hates banks and Wall Street. *yawn* This is a good read: AZ Court Rejects Taxpayers Pay for Union Workers $2 million dollars to cops-turned-labor-reps is 'disproportionate' An Arizona court struck down taxpayer funding for union work on Tuesday, dealing a blow to public sector unions. The Arizona Court of Appeals unanimously ruled that the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association (PLEA) wrongfully used taxpayer dollars to pay union representatives who had ceased to perform the duties of their government jobs in order to serve their labor representatives. ... The association's deal mandated nearly 2,000 hours of release time for six police officers to perform union duties, rather than those of a police officer. Release time cost the city nearly $2 million over a two-year period, according to the ruling. ... "Not only were taxpayers being forced to fund private labor union activity, it was activity that was purposely aimed at undermining the safety of Phoenix residents and the operations of the police department. That's not only illegal, it's outrageous," Bolick said in the release. Labor watchdogs, such as Patrick Semmens of the National Right to Work Foundation, said the court decision eliminates "an outrageous giveaway to big labor that needs to be ended nationwide." "There is absolutely no justification for having taxpayers foot the bill for union officials to conduct union business," he said. "If what the union officials are doing is worthwhile then union members will voluntarily pay dues to support those activities. Official time lets government union bosses avoid accountability from both taxpayers and rank-and-file union members." let's hope it sets a precedence, we've seen this in every area of government, and anything the democrats touch another reason States need autonomy we need a bigger army to root these jackals out the washington freebeacon.com Posted by: artisanal 'ette at August 12, 2015 06:50 AM (qCMvj) 43

The Republican will do the same thing if Trump is still dominating. The Dems chickened out last time with Obama. The superdelegates didn't vote for Hillary. If Trump makes it to the convention (which I see as unlikely), they'll kneecap his run behind the scenes and lose the election on purpose. Jonah Goldberg's piece in the LATimes.
GOP's Trump problem will fade, but Democrats' Bernie Sanders troubles are just beginning I hadn't heard of the Democrat Party breakdown defined so succinctly, compared to the Republican's. Obama wanted to be a Reagan of the left, a "transformative" president who moved the magnetic poles of American politics leftward. The jury is out on that project, but he did succeed in at least one sense. Reagan united foreign policy hawks, social conservatives and economic conservatives -- the famous three legs to the stool of the conservative movement. Obama did something very similar on the left. He united the civil rights or identity politics wing, the economic or egalitarian wing and the more elitist technocratic wing. Obviously, these movements overlap -- just as the different factions of the Reagan coalition overlapped -- but each has its own priorities and passions. http://lat.ms/1JSE6qs Posted by: artisanal 'ette at August 12, 2015 07:10 AM (qCMvj) 71

Morning, 'rons and 'ronettes.
Today is the birthday of one of my favorite directors, Cecil B. DeMille. Of course, everyone knows The Ten Commandments and, to a lesser extent, his Cleopatra, but before launching a career in big-budget, widescreen blockbusters, DeMille was a very well-respected director of silent features such as Why Change Your Wife?, The Godless Girl, King Of Kings and Don't Change Your Husband. He was also instrumental in changing Gloria Swanson from a Mack Sennett "bathing beauty" comedienne into a figure of luxe and glamour. I can't short-link to YouTube, but go there and look up "10 Things I Hate About Commandments" for a funny recut trailer of Ten Commandments as a high school comedy. Here is Claudette Colbert as the Queen of the Nile in DeMille's 1934 Cleopatra: http://goo.gl/1dPCe0 Of course, I can't post that without also posting my fave, bunk-worthy pic of Colbert: https://goo.gl/jykbuC Today is also the birthday of actress Pauline Frederick, called by illustrator Harrison Fisher* "the purest American beauty." Between 1915 - 1929, she made 60 films, almost all of which are lost. She's only known to classic movie fans as Joan Crawford's amoral socialite mother in 1931s This Modern Age. http://goo.gl/GJc5pl *Fisher was probably the closest rival to the internationally famous illustrator Charles Dana Gibson. This is his portrait of actress Dorothy Gibson: https://goo.gl/G3PjwB Hope you all have a wonderful day. Posted by: Mary Poppins' Practically Perfect Piercing at August 12, 2015 07:16 AM (zF6Iw) 78

It is the very inconvenient fact of the financial backing of BLM by George Soros who is also (surprise! surprise!) supporting Hillary Clinton. First let us watch Strauss plunge into this story with eyes wide shut before his own readers school him on what he refuses to notice: Bernie Sanders has a Black Lives Matter problem, and it doesn't look like it's going away anytime soon. It's not just Jefferson...
AIRBRUSH: "State by State, Democratic Party Is Erasing Ties to Jefferson and Jackson." instapundit links to this althouse piece "State by State, Democratic Party Is Erasing Ties to Jefferson and Jackson." "Political candidates and activists across the country have flocked to annual Jefferson-Jackson Day dinners, where speeches are given, money is raised, and the party celebrates its past and its future." But these time-honored rituals are colliding with a modern Democratic Party more energized by a desire for racial and gender inclusion than reverence for history. And state by state, Democratic activists are removing the names of Jefferson and Jackson from party gatherings, saying the two men no longer represent what it means to be a Democrat.... Jeb is not catching fire at all. I think the MFM is starting to hedge their bets and will start pushing Kasich as "a good man." Beware. Posted by: J.J. Sefton at August 12, 2015 07:58 AM (St6BJ) 145

And now you see what a threat Trump is to the GOP's 'Divide and Conquer' strategy.
Posted by: Pappy O'Daniel at August 12, 2015 07:51 AM (oVJmc) --------- If that is the Jeb? strategy then Trump does upset the apple cart. It looks like Trump has already crippled Perry. And the longer he is viable, the more Jeb? interference runners bite the dust. WRT to Perry, I heard that some Super PAC's were going to give him a cash infusion. Of course that would be a point towards the truth of the Jeb? strategy. Posted by: WOPR at August 12, 2015 07:59 AM (nRvEn) 147
Yep. He is a complete outsider, with zero ties to them. Worse, if Trump consolidates a big enough block, they can't splinter the votes enough to give Jeb! a plurality. Posted by: Pappy O'Daniel at August 12, 2015 08:01 AM (oVJmc) 148
J.J. Sefton: "It is way too early, but that meeting between Cruz and Trump a few weeks back keeps sticking in my mind."
Cruz is the only one who has handled Trump the right way from the start. The only one I guess. And the thing with Trump is that he loves personal gestures of kindness, respect, and some sense of loyalty. Trumps ego needs stroking. Everyone responds to that, Trump more than most... at least outwardly. And, really, all it takes is being decent. But Cruz went way beyond decent. If Trump does not implode, as time goes on, that meeting may loom larger and larger.
Posted by: J.J. Sefton at August 12, 2015 07:56 AM If, that is, Hugh Hewitt, the Voice of Conservatism, doesn't disembowel him in the next debate. Apparently -- at least according to Breitbart -- teh Hughster doesn't like Trump, and has been pretty vocal about it. He'll be CNN's Megyn Kelly, with (maybe) a smaller rack. Really, CNN/Salem? IMO, setting a whiny lump like Hewitt up to stomp on teh Donald is like sending Poppin' Fresh up against, well, anyone.... Posted by: MrScribbler at August 12, 2015 08:05 AM (0atQl) 153
Sefton@69: Reserve linebacker I.K. Enemkpali sucker punched starting QB Geno Smith in the Jets locker room, breaking Smith's jaw and sidelining him for 6-10 weeks. It was a dispute over $600; Smith no-showed at a Enemkpali charity event to attend a funeral and was slow to repay for the wasted plane tickets.
Enemkpali was dumped by the team immediately. Ryan Fitzpatrick will replace Smith and might keep the starter's spot even after Smith's return. Posted by: Spellcheck at August 12, 2015 08:05 AM (1mPbg) 154

WOPR: "WRT to Perry, I heard that some Super PAC's were going to give him a cash infusion. Of course that would be a point towards the truth of the Jeb? strategy."
It would sure seem that way. I don't think Perry and Bush get along all that well. Aren't their camps pretty serious adversaries? I guess it wouldn't really matter. If you're out of office and essentially out of politics, the payoff probably looks pretty good. Rove and his money men have a lot of walking around cash. Jeb hasn't won a competitive election in what, fifteen years or something? Slim-Jeb is a total annoyance in this race so far. I try to get exercised about him but I can't do it; he just seems like a non-entity. I'm probably being naïve about the perfidy of the GOP, and it wouldn't be the first time.

Hubris, as said above. Now that her lard-filled, tax-grifting ass is safely in office, likely for the rest of her life, she can delight in grinding the heel of her Jimmy Choos in the faces of all those plebian, sister-humping, Bible-clutching, gun-stroking serfs who have to work two or three jobs in order to support her own personal FSA.
If Teh Donald really wants to throw a monkey wrench into DCs gears, he should call for a national strike or tax revolt. Failing that, assholes like McCaskill deserve the D-Lamp treatment. It's gonna get interesting!
Posted by: J.J. Sefton at August 12, 2015 08:08 AM Interesting, yes, and maybe even "fun." But the more the GOPe and its stooges try to unload on Trump, the more damage they do, probably not to Trump but to the candidate-selection process and the media. And, ultimately, to themselves and the whole political system. People who are yammering about how awful Trump is fail to realize that this particular mess started with Megyn Kelly asking a stupid, irrelevant question. She, and her fellow "reporters," could have avoided the whole miserable mess so easily. But, I am told, had she not been free to act like a spoiled, self-indulgent jerk, she would have been giving in to teh Leftist Mob. Or something.
