JJ,
Re: Fiorina praises Islam , 2 weeks after 9/11. Hope you are here . I followed up on that source and you were correct it is flaky. However., the HP transcript of her speech matches word for word what this purported HP transcript from gatesofvienna.net says. http://tinyurl.com/o32chov Gates of vienna appears to be somewhat reputable and credible YMMV. The article was reposted from the original at RenewAmerica. Here is a partial transcript: There was once a civilization that was the greatest in the world. It was able to create a continental super-state that stretched from ocean to ocean, and from northern climes to tropics and deserts. Within its dominion lived hundreds of millions of people, of different creeds and ethnic origins. One of its languages became the universal language of much of the world, the bridge between the peoples of a hundred lands. Its armies were made up of people of many nationalities, and its military protection allowed a degree of peace and prosperity that had never been known. The reach of this civilization's commerce extended from Latin America to China, and everywhere in between. And this civilization was driven more than anything, by invention. Its architects designed buildings that defied gravity. Its mathematicians created the algebra and algorithms that would enable the building of computers, and the creation of encryption. Its doctors examined the human body, and found new cures for disease. Its astronomers looked into the heavens, named the stars, and paved the way for space travel and exploration. I've been trying to figure out the illegals/amnesty/big business link. I think it has something to do with cheap labor, but I also think the Mandarin suite has figured out indigenous Americans just aren't reproducing fast enough to support their earnings estimates. Progs, and to a lesser degree, LIVs have bought into the exploding population myth, and just aren't making babies. It's a HUGE structural flaw in China's economy due to their one child social engineering project. Now China has nothing but lonely sons, as they are killing or exporting their daughters. I seriously wonder if this isn't at the heart of the puzzling alliance between the GOPe and Dems on amnesty.

77 I've read that for internships at prestigious, cool places in NYC, such as in the fashion and publishing industries, the intern actually pays thousands of dollars for the privilege of working for free. Paying for the prestige of having an internship there on their CV.
Posted by: Lizzy at August 11, 2015 09:30 AM (NOIQH) ___________ Summer between my freshman and sophmore year I did an internship. It was unpaid and they worked me pretty damn hard. But I was happy to be there. It was a tough gig to get and the reason I got it was my dad knew someone there and hooked me up. But if they had told me I needed to pay them, I would have done so gladly. Being able to put "Summer Intern at XYZ Company" on my resume when applying to jobs after college was worth 100X more money than if they had paid me minimum wage. This is part of the progressive playbook to undermine the institutions that make up a traditional society. They control the government, at least the bureaucracy, lower and higher education and can force their ideology on big business through threat, intimidation and law-fare. Religion is next on the agenda. But that's just it: I don't think Perry knew. A savvy national-level politician seeking the conservative vote would never put Steve Schmidt on his team. Draki,
The problem is not her estimation of nebulous Islamic "greatness". It's calling Islamic civilization 'great' and ascribing provably false mythical, magical qualities to Islam. And she did this 2 weeks after the Islamists killed 2000 people in the name of their bloody murder god. She jumped on the dhimmitude train early. I went to a church as a kid that was Baptist. Heard a bit of gossip about it a few years ago. Turns out, the pastor (who was the same when I was a kid) had slowly morphed into a Unitarian universalist and wanted to keep the church and turn it away from Baptist. Meanwhile, the land the church was on had been given to them by another church/southernbaptist for the purposes of a BAPTIST church. So there was a bit of fight about whether they could keep the land. (which they ended up doing). Of course, the church was so degraded by this point (people and coffers), that they had already been selling off pieces of the land for years (what used to be church property hosts a Duncan donuts, a bank and a cell phone tower!). I think they finally had to leave it for financial reasons, although I haven't heard the most recent details. Sad. Posted by: Lea at August 11, 2015 09:59 AM (lIU4e) 180
For the most part that's true. But you can't really blame colleges for what investment banks and law firms do with regards to hiring practices for internships, can you?
-- No, I just think the adcom criteria are skewed in favor of rich kids. Which is what they want, because their goal is alumni revenue future and present. Which is also why they are so eager to adopt whatever political fad is in favor - because they thrive on favorable relationships with the politically powerful. So that's what they are. Their srtudents are the best and brightest of the rich and well connected, the future leaders, carefully indoctrinated into correct thinking. Meanwhile the best and brightest overall, whose parents weren't rich or savvy enough to get them into shiny extracurriculars, go to lower ranked schools. The church grows when it boldly proclaims the Gospel of Christ and refuses to compromise or comply with anything against it. "We must obey God and not men." The church shrinks when it tries to focus on "fairness" and "social justice," and "just getting along." When, in fact, it ceases to be the church. This has been demonstrated repeatedly through the history of the church, yet every time it happens we're again taken by surprise. There are some very basic questions about the EPA fuck up that I'm sure will never be answered:
-Who signed the permit for the work the crew were doing? -Who approved the operations plan? -Who reviewed the site diagrams? -Was an SPCC plan in place? -Who generated that plan? -Did that plan include secondary containment to prevent any discharge from reaching Navigable Waters of the United States? -Was that plan followed? How the system "works" is very clearly described in the book "Excellent Sheep" by William Deresiewicz. The idea is to require for admission (or at least heavily reward) things only upper-class students can have, like out-of-country "service" trips, internships with the rich and famous, sports that are usually found in eastern prep schools (water polo, field hockey, lacrosse) and test scores that generally require expensive tutoring. Done properly, no federal rules are violated, and the riff-raff are kept safely off campus. Posted by: Agent J at August 11, 2015 10:10 AM (ueOgE) 197

Someone told me to try turning the phone off completely and rebooting it. Worked for me (although I don't know why.)
-------------------- Maybe you had a bunch of open apps running in the background. When you reboot you are closing all the apps so you'll have better battery life. As you open apps they stay open in the background!, you can shut them down by double clicking the home button and scroll through the open apps by swiping left. Swipe each app up to close the app. You can also go into settings and see if apps are refreshing in the background then you can turn that off on certain apps to increase battery life. Posted by: HUCK / AKIN 2016 at August 11, 2015 09:43 AM (0LHZx) Yes you can because they could put pressure on those businesses to pay at least minimum wage or limit work hours. These aren't small businesses. But they won't because schools do the same sort of sorting for entrance. If you don't have the time, money, and connections to do some pre-college volunteering, some fields are going to be difficult to get into. For example pre-vet usually requires you to have 100+ hours of work at a vets office before you will even get looked at. Posted by: WOPR at August 11, 2015 10:23 AM (nRvEn) 212

Had to have it plugged in all night, but if I screwed up and forgot or it unplugged, utter disaster the next morning. Fixed by resetting phone back to factory settings. Battery charges like new again, my phone stays charged more than a day now, phew! What you need to do is open iTunes with your phone plugged in, will open your phone in iTunes. Do a full backup of your phone so you save your notes, contacts, photos, etc. It might ask if you want to save your apps too: DO THAT. I did not, big mistake. Then click that you want to restore it to factory, is scary but take the plunge! Then when phone is restored to its pristine baby state, can click on restore backup and all your data will come back.
