5 Well, the anti-male college policy that makes a male guilty of rape unless he has a signed oath and affirmation of "yes" has finally started making its way to the courts. Along with that is the policy at most schools where males can be accused and have no rights at all in these student kangaroo tribunals is being looked at as well. And guess what, the judges do not like these codes and are throwing them out.

13 Two 13 year old girls will be tried as adults in adult court after stabbing a classmate to satisfy a cartoon character. Trump should have let FOX sweat for a while. Make them lose some cachet and money; hit 'em where it hurts.

And then Trump could rally support from other campaigns by pointing out all the other problems with the debate. You know, try to help prep the battlefield for subsequent debates at other venues. If you're going to keep leverage, keep it all, everywhere. This might endear him to those who question his advocacy for The Party.

He needs to think long term here.

60 Sp last night I went to a Townhalll meeting for my Congressional Rep on the Iran deal. Apparently a lot of people felt strongly about this because people showed up from other parts of the district that were almost 40 miles away,y and some even showed up from outside the district-maybe because their Representative isn't have a town hall meeting on it. My R Congressman is against it. He thinks it will be voted down (The actual vote doesn't come until the Congress reconvenes in mid Sept) and then thinks Obama will veto it- (Of course, Obama wouldl veto it.) Then he doesn't know what will happen.

Highlights-There were a number of young people there-college and high school age whig made me glad. The guy (20 something, maybe) in front of me laughed a lot at in respect to what the Rep was saying (and I laughed too so they must have thought we were both crazy) and then got up to say that he was opposed to everything Obama does/ They handed out a draft of the agreement and the first paragraph says "They" (EU and 3 anti three) feel this agreement "will positively contribute to peace and security" and that "Iran reafffims that under no circumstances will Iran seek, develop or acquire any nuclear weapons." (When I read that I laughed too.)

There was a very smart articulate Chinese American guy from the local high school. He asked a question and the Rep told him he should become a lawyer after college (He was opposed to the treaty.)

An Orthodox Jewish man said "I guess it's nice that people ascribe the best motives to others, but Iran has said chanted "Death to America" and "Death to Israel." I don't see how anyone can support this treaty.

A man said "My son has lived in Iran" and other son has served in the military in the Mideast".
What other alternative do we have? He supported it.

Another man stood up and said "I was an engineer in Tehran for many years and have friends over there" (Basically his comment affirmed by leftists around him was "The Iranian people are very nice ,decent people. I think we should support this agreement." The Rep agreed that many Iranians are very well educated and kind decent people. He also said that the leadership was a disaster and Iran is the largest supporter of state terrorism.

Another man stood up and said "Of course Iran won't get (ICBMs)

Another man stood up (a LaRouche supporter) who said "America under Obama wants to be an Empire, In order to do this they will start a war with Russia."

An Interesting group of people. From the applause given the various comments the people there were overwhelmingly opposed to this throaty.

And for any NJ morons, Senator Booker hasn't given his opinion yet. Call Senator Booker to let him know you are opposed to this treaty

If you have a chance an haven't done so, attend a town hall meeting. They're very interesting.

Funny how a treaty - which requires a two-thirds confirmation vote by the Senate to be ratified - is now subject to a "normal" Congressional vote that can be vetoed by the Precedent and then ... poof! ... becomes "ratified".

Normally, you'd have to amend the Constitution to get that sort of thing ... but thanks to our great Vichy GOP turds - who are always looking out for Barky - we have been able to give the Precedent (the worst abuser of Executive powers in history ... and the most anit-American ... and the dumbest) this new extra-Constitutional power. Yay! I wonder why they didn't think to give him the sort of extra-Constitutional power over anything he might call a trade deal? That seems like a natural move for a bunch of wet turds who are looking to concentrate all power in the office of an Indonesian, dog-eating, America-hating, 84 IQ imbecile. They could call it Trade Promotion Authority or something catchy like that.

Maybe I should ask Ted Cruz why they didn't think to give Barky that other extra-Constitutional power, too? Cruz knows the Constitution pretty well so he would definitely be up on this ...

Perry ran in a state that has been solidly Republican for the last 20 years. It doesn't sharpen the political skills when you run in a monochrome state. Let's face it, Dubya really isn't a great politician either. He just avoided some of the major gaffes Perry committed and had the Bush name and political ties.

The thing that has worked for Fox since its inception is a strong -- and, IMO, almost pathetic -- need felt by conservatives/Republicans for a public forum where their hopes, fears and opinions are given credence.

When it seemed they were getting it, from Celebrated Right-Wingers like Hannity, O'Reilly, Greta, Beck and the rest, they clasped Fox to their collective bosoms and accepted what it was selling. They viewed through conservative-colored glasses.

Nobody looked at the left-of-center frame to which the conservative plaster was applied.

People perceive candidates the same way. It's human nature.

The Articles of Impeachment are into their 3rd volume, already. It is entirely unfathomable the amount of crimes against our nation and Constitution this turd has been allowed to commit. It really boggles the mind.

This current population is going to be the butt of jokes and the object of derision and scorn for thousands of years for the idiocy we (yes, not "us" but we, as a whole) have elected - the national suicide that we have sought and the inept, incompetent, retarded instrument of that national suicide that we have chosen to bring it about. This American population will live on as a cautionary tale to all about how demented and sick a society can get, in no time and for no reason other than boredom and an overabundance of self-hating idiots.

Ann Coulter was great on Greta last night.

She said, we all know the reason people are embracing Trump (the illegal alien stuff), and said the way the other can get ahead of him is to embrace that too, but they won't. She asked why (sarcastically and rhetorically).

The other guy on the show, not sure who he was, some GOPe, was getting angrier and angrier at what she was saying, lol.

Every election season its the same thing around here. A few people go psychotic, particularly over-the-top in support of their one selected candidate and spew spittle and bile over anyone who doesn't immediately jump on their psycho-train. We watched a movie recently on Netflix, The Physician.

The premise is this:

In Persia in the 11th Century, a surgeon's apprentice disguises himself as a Jew to study at a school that does not admit Christians.

Something I did not know was that before physicians, barbers were the "surgeons."

The barber surgeon was one of the most common medical practitioners of medieval Europe -- generally charged with looking after soldiers during or after a battle. In this era, surgery was not generally conducted by physicians, but by barbers (who of course had a sharp-bladed razor as an indispensable tool of their profession). In the Middle Ages in Europe barbers would be expected to do anything from cutting hair to amputating limbs.

In the movie, the boy travels, disguised as a Jew, after apprenticing as a barber, to learn to be a physician (under actor Ben Kingsley).

Pretty interesting, not an exciting movie, but it wasn't meant to be I think.

---------

Talked about this the other day--Just started getting One America News (OAN) in my area. They are a fairly new group and most of the daytime programming is strictly straight news--no partisan politics, somewhat similar in format to CNN Headline news. However, I find that I am seeing a lot more news items that the MSM seems to be avoiding. They also do short history vignettes which are also free of bias and very informative. There are some commentary shows in the evening (notably Tomi Lahren at 10pm Eastern) that I really enjoy. They lean very conservative, but the best part is they actually let their guests speak--not just in sentences, but in paragraphs! So refreshing.

Currently, there is no advertising. Don't know why that is, but obviously it's a big plus. I'm hoping they make it to the big time.

Yes. It's depicted in the movie.
Amputations, dentistry...
Pretty interesting.
In the movie, the main barber was travelling around, and living in, a horse drawn carriage with all of his tools.

I think about how far we have come, and then I see some of the stupid sh*t out there now, where people have no clue how hard it all was, and why we did a lot of what we have done over history.

There is no way of knowing what his true views on the issues are, since as a very public resident of NYC and a multi-millionaire developer, he had to publicly support Democrats and play the politics game.

Even with his dubious business savvy, he'd be light years ahead of any Leftist or GOP-e Leviathan manager.

NB: That last sentence assumes he would not turn into, or even is, a Ken Langone or Warren Buffet.

Not sure what you mean by "ALL-OUT" or "true believer" but I can tell you that the only way I'll vote GOP is if Trump is the candidate. Otherwise, the GOP is getting no vote from me (as has been the case since my final GOP vote in 2012).

As to "true believer" ... about what? I certainly do think that Trump loves America and wants to see this nation stop being the doormat of the world and the laughing stock of the West. I believe that he truly wants to make this nation great again. Can it be done? I'm doubtful - this nation is toast and has been irreparably damaged by Barky and the collaborating Vichy GOP turds - but I have little doubt that that is what really motivates Trump in this pursuit.

253 A few years ago someone was kind enough to post this quick description of UK papers.

Telegraph -- royalist/Conservative.

Daily Mail --mix of hard news and celeb gossip. Doesn't coverup the news, which these days is a conservative-leaning position.

Times -- stodgy, paywall.

Guardian -- left.

Mirror -- wackier left.

Independent -- left, republican (you can be both in Britain).

The Sun -- sensationalist/page 3 girls.

One that was not included is the Daily Express. Where would that fall on the spectrum? The coverage seems somewhat con-leaning but you can't tell for sure anymore.

I've also never been sure what "stodgy" meant for the Times but since it's paywalled I guess it don't matter.

Any input welcome.

292 The media loves the "staged" moderator controlled debate format
because it gives the media the power over the topics and lets them obscure
anything they don't want people to think about.

My ideal format
is the moderator poses a "universal" question and every candidate
gets about 5 uninterrupted minutes* to respond (all other mikes
are turned off including that of the moderator). Any time not used
goes to the next candidate. Each candidate also gets 2 minute
opening and closing statements. The order of candidate responses
is determined by lot for each question.

*Five minutes might be too long in today's sound bite
culture, but it would sure show up any candidate that couldn't put
some thoughts together or had no real ideas.

It's hard to explain it all here. (Keep in mind, Cruz is my guy.)

She was running in California. I've lived there. It's bad.

To say the word "woman" against Boxer sticks in your mind.

She showed she was confident and proud of her accomplishments.

It was part of her campaign, a campaign of old. Things change based on circumstances, and here we are. Look what people are talking about, a woman v woman possibly in the final elections is possible.

Identity politics. Is it smart she is turning the Dems strategy on it's head to her advantage? We'll see.

You can doubt his positions and question what he would actually do in office - I see nothing wrong with people who harbor those doubts as there is ample evidence to support their views - but the idea that he is palying a secret second banana to someone - to Shrillary, specifically - just doesn't hold any water.

Christie - Telling It Like It Is

332 "MK, making news rather than reporting it all the while supposed to be a 'moderator' of a debate. She sure screwed the pooch this time."

Yeah, remember how she went on Twitter to whine for four straight days about the debate? Oh, wait, that was the guy who prides himself on being a tough talker. Remind me again how he's ready to be president when he throws childish tantrums every day. He's whinier than Obama.

"He needs to think long term here."

It's impossible for Trump to think long term. He's a thin-skinned crybaby with anger issues. That's why his campaign manager quit.

"I certainly do think that Trump loves America"

One of the things that makes America the greatest nation in the world is free speech and how we can all say what we want. Trump has proven throughout the last four days or so that he is like so many on the far left: defending his right to *free* speech, but whining whenever dissenting viewpoints are expressed. You can't love America and then behave like that. Hell, you can't base your campaign solely around what a tough talker you are and then whine when people criticize you.

No one is saying a person has to like different viewpoints or go through that "everyone's opinion is special" coddling, but a mature adult recognizes that other people are going to disagree. Trump can't recognize that and he thus fails to recognize what is great about this country. He is a child, the grown-up version of those teenage Internet tough guys. He'll be spouting "uber pwnage, dude" by the end of the week.

"I believe that he truly wants to make this nation great again."

By giving a terrible debate performance? By never offering specifics on how he'd fix the problems he addresses? By repeatedly lying about his past support of Democrats? By throwing hissy fits on Twitter? (Yeesh, even Obama doesn't do that last one.)

Good thing I saw this before I responded to your prior missive.

One donates to the party in power (or one about to be in power), regardless of which party it is if one is a "pure" cronyist. One donates to a singular party not in power with no real hope of being in power soon if one believes in that party.

Both describe Trump, with the latter describing his donations to the national Rats when they didn't appear to have a chance of getting back in national power.

353 "Twitter is an unmitigated evil. It's like the crack of the internet."

Twitter is a tool and one that could've provided some value. Unlike Facebook, anyone can talk to anyone and have everything out in the open. The exchange of ideas and opinions (or just having some good fun) could've been very worthwhile. I'm sure a number of people do just that. The problem is, Twitter is full of whiny, thin-skinned brats so completely used to living inside their bubbles. A differing viewpoint to them is like salt in a wound; it's unbearable, but rather than just ignore it like a sane person would, they try to silence and bully others. They might not be the majority (then again, maybe they are, as rational people typically don't devote their entire days to Twitter), but they're certainly vocal.

My point isn't to defend Twitter, but to acknowledge that the hyper-sensitive a-holes there exist. If not for Twitter, they'd just latch onto some other form of social media and continue on. (I hear Tumblr is infested with that type.) Twitter is the symptom; they're the disease.

He certainly used to support single payer. he said so much at the "debate". But he doesn't anymore - at least that's what he explained at the "debate" - and he came out for an interstate market in health insurance, which is the way it is actually supposed to be done and what the actual Commerce Clause says the feral government has the power to help do regarding such things. Not nationalizing health insurance but 'making regular interstate commerce in it'.

You can trust him or doubt him but that's what he said about it.

Or it was Jews or local Christians.

The Arabs were like the Huns or Mongols or Vandals. They were good cavalry (in their case camels) and they used that to conquer large pieces of the Byzantine Empire. The early ones benefitted from advancements by Jews, Christians, and trade with India.

And in terms of actual knowledge, Europe was more advanced in many ways. Europe had better agricultural tech, crossbows, and braking carts. The Arabs basically had copies of Greek philosophies that were lost in the West.

The myth that Medieval Europe was backward is promulgated by several groups to benefit their own agendas.

Apparently, 2 weeks after 9/11 she said, The islamic World of 800-1600 was the greatest civilization on Earth (paraphrase). Granted, I was only slightly aware of Islam before 9/11 since I was in high school. I think this speech is just a puff piece by her and doesn't show true thoughts/feelings towards islam. It is true that the islamic World was great and powerful during that time. The Crusades prove how great and militarily proficient the muslims were when they reconquered Jerusalem.

Fiorina is not saying islam is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

The Turks are not the ancient inhabitants, though, and the Persians in question were pre-Muslim. A great deal is made of Arab imperialism. Arab is not exactly equivalent to Islam, but the imperial part pretty much is.

Great little passage in Seven Pillars of Wisdom, where Alec Guinness (admit it, you always see his face in the role) lectures a pissant classicist in English secret service on the gaslit streetlamps of Arab Spain, and Lawrence says, rather quietly for Lawrence, "Yes. You were great."

431 But these ministers don't see it that way, and I applaud them for doing something about it, dare I say it, "raising awareness" of Sanger's racial eugenicist views.

Oh, correct. I have no problem with these ministers asking for that references to Racist Eugenicist Margaret Sanger be removed.

I would simply tell them that she *is* a part of what the black community views as it's "liberation," and that as long as that is the case, she deserves to be mentioned. It is up to the black community to raise itself from it's current level of - frankly - barbarianism to more civilized behavior. No one else can do it for them.

Barbarians engage in tribal wars for territory and "respect." Civilized peoples... well, I won't say they don't, but they do at least make some efforts to avoid them. Barbarians kill the unwanted among them. Civilized peoples do not (as a rule).

If blacks want to stop being reminded of those who would use them to destroy themselves (REMS being high on that list), then they should stop destroying themselves.

Again- this is nothing against the black ministers. I'm sure they're fighting against their culture as much as anyone could ask. But it is a comment on that culture, and the trials it faces.
