1 Good Morning Morons. Today is Monday, August 10, 2015. On this day in 1901 The U.S. Steel Recognition Strike by the Amalgamated Association of Iron and Steel Workers began. Like most of the early labor organizations this union was largely communist. This strike failed. In fact it left the steel workers in worse shape than they were before the strike. Eventually the unions succeeded in organizing the steel companies. And eventually the steel companies went out of business and all production moved to non-union mills overseas.

8 White bike riders are being hit with pieces of cinderblock thrown from a car. This is most likely being done by black Somalia immigrant muzzies. I derived that from other news sources. We need to bring some more of these savages into the country.

9 The Scankles saga continues as she swearsies that she has turned over all her e-mails. Note the careful wording of this:

This follows U.S. District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan ordering Clinton as well as two former top department aides to state under penalty of perjury they have produced all government records in their possession.

If she has destroyed them they are no longer in her "possession".

That's why Kevin Williamson's reaction is a mystery. So, okay, you're (he's) not a fan of Trump, but the vitriolic almost ad hominem attack on him - without addressing the real issue which is why people are flocking to him - is just beyond me. That was disappointing because on the whole, Williamson is quite good.

http://tinyurl.com/qyvhy4y

A HERO SAS sniper gunned down a knife-wielding Islamic State (ISIS) maniac just as he was trying to brutally behead a father and his young son.

The brave British marksman saved the terrified eight-year-old and his father after taking out the crazed jihadi with a head shot from 1,000 metres away.

The special forces crack shot then killed two other members of the hated terror group, who were also taking part in the sick planned execution.

ISIS militants had decreed that the little boy and his father must die after branding them "infidels" because they refused to denounce their faith.

They were just seconds from death when the hero sniper intervened to stop the barbaric killing in the Syrian desert. The pair were part of the minority Shia sect of Islam which ISIS considers to be heretical.

People would have had time to Google the candidates names for one thing and I'm sure there was quite a bit if self-selection among those who took and decided to go do something more useful at hotmidgets69.com

That said, great news, because this poll in turn will help shape public perception, and Carly and Cruz benefit.

94 I got banned from Hot Air for noting the changes after Salem aka Town Hall bought them out.

yep. By the doughboy himself. Dissed me and dismissed me in the comments to, the dick hole. And of course I couldn't retort because I was banned.

Bugged him for weeks to take me off their members list. Wrote emails to Twon Hull and made a general nuisance of my self.

Damned if they were going to include me in their member stats after banning me with no appeal.

Same thing happened with Red On the Rag State later. They didn't ban me openly, I had to find out by trying to comment.

Then I couldn't get them to tell me why or when. Just ignored me but also kept me on the membership rolls until I made a PIA of myself and they took me off.

If you've been banned somewhere, don't let them keep your membership alive. They can use the numbers for advertising prices and for (in the case of Red On the Rage State) for when they try to sell the site to someone else.

Yet at the same time he calls out Trump supporters as like PP tape deniers. And since the tweets etc are from Trump supporters they are being called all manner of things -- by commenters --most recently Trump Brownshirters.

How much does DT actually have to do with these people? Who are these people? And who are the people who call them Brownshirters?

Whatever is going on in this country -- whacked. Lots of people on site not for EE though.

People Magazine Promotes Gross Feminism: 'Free Bleeding' to 'Raise Awareness'

There's a new trend among us! It's called "free bleeding" - where a woman doesn't use feminine products when she's menstruating. Yes. This is apparently a thing, and People magazine thinks it's great. Take Kiran Gandhi, a drummer for several dance and hip-hop acts. Gandhi decided to run the London Marathon "free bleeding" style to "raise awareness," reported People. Yep. That's right! She ran the entire race -- just letting it all flow -- and she didn't even have the decency to wear black running pants.

Trolls and mobys exist for that kind of stuff. They figure the volume gives them cover and they get secret thrill of not only scaring/pissing off the recipient but they also get the supposed object of fandom and their legitimate fans in trouble.

It's a triple win. Which is why they do it.

A guy who can piss off the likes of Chuck Turd and Erick Ericson simultaneous has A Gift. That he appeals to voters hungry for a forthright, truth-telling candidate is a bonus.

I wrote about this in a previous post, on a previous day, where I quoted how the GOP could do this (I stole from an article I read somewhere). They can rewrite the rules any time they please. They can bully together to get it done. I'll try to find the link. It's easy if they want to. Same for Trump.

So all of this is a joke if the GOP has the power to turn anything on a dime anyway.

Ace seems to believe that anyone not actively denouncing Trump in the comments is mesmerized by his celebrity and too stupid to rationally work through the issues. Only elite writers hold the ability to see the truth with clarity.

He may want to consider one aspect of a Trump presidency. During recent interviews, he talks about having Carl Icahn negotiate trade agreements. When was the last time you heard a candidate say that he would delegate a key issue to someone else, effectively admitting there is a person more expert at a certain task?

Great executives are broad generalists with vision. They rely on their ability to find and motivate individuals who are expert at their segments.

Obama, on the other hand, believes he alone has the force of personality that can make things happen. Clinton, Bush, Obama all relied on people who are supposedly "experts", but only in the political sense.

If Trump expands on this course, names cabinet members and top advisors and allows them to lay out their plans, I can see this bringing a lot of credibility and trust to the campaign.

Donald Trump's Six Stages Of Doom

excerpt

Regular FiveThirtyEight readers will be familiar with "The Party Decides" paradigm of the nomination process. It posits that the nominee represents the consensus choice of influential members of the party, and that rank-and-file voters serve mostly to vet and validate the candidates in the event of a close call.

Much of the party's influence consists of what you might call "soft power," the ability to influence outcomes by persuasion rather than coercion. But the party also has some "hard power": It literally makes the rules. It can rule against candidates it doesn't like in the event of delegate-counting disputes. It can probably even change the rules midstream. There isn't a lot of precedent to worry about violating, since it's been 40 years since Republicans came close to a brokered convention.

If Trump made it this far, the Republican Party would go to extraordinary lengths to avoid nominating him.

The real question is if - IF - he survives the next 15 months and actually gets the nomination, will you support him all the way???

219 I think Cruz is playing for the Trump vote is Trump implodes. Or he is playing for the VP nomination in a Trump run for president. Cruz is walking a fine line of staying just inside GOPe acceptance while making noises about the issues people care about. Meanwhile Kasich is the backup to Jeb?. Rubio has too much God talk which the GOPe doesn't like.

This is interesting.

Trump lives in the less than 1% bubble, yet he taps into our anger somehow. Most people at that tier have no idea what is going on "on the ground."

The difference, in some respect, is that he is not in DC, where there is a Stupid, Self-Centered, Greedy, Power-Hungry Bubble wrapped around the zone. But he is based in NY, another one with that bubble frothing all over the city.

I wonder where he is tapping into this from...

I went to the zoo yesterday. I touched the sharks and fed the giraffe and got felt up by a flamingo. I watched the baby elephants play in the water and the baby dolphin play with his mom and the orangutans play peek-a-boo with some blankets. And then I got in line to order a hot dog, and the woman behind me was bitching about going to the local hospital system's primary care instead of her friend's obstetrician because the private doctor wouldn't take her "benefits", and when I was waiting for my dog she bought a $10 Coke with cash. I would be content with eight years of undoing Choom Boy's disasters -- start with Iran and work your way down, using that pen and phone to rescind every executive order of the previous regime (start with immigration) -- and, as a bonus, some kind of move toward a sensible economic policy.

If the guy in the Oval Office is Trump (I know, I know) we can expect Congress to spend their time p*ssing and moaning. Which is admirably suited to them.

I've seen similar things, strategy, whatever done in business or really more in a industry or sector. The rules, laws, regs or contracts calcify. Usually over long periods of time and everyone either gets used to it, accepts it, or is beaten into the square peg. It is inefficient, rigged, harmful or set up so that only the chosen can benefit. Then some asshole kicks over the beehive and everyone is confused, angry, "you can't do that!", etc. Even if they fail they started the movement towards getting out of the comfort, safety for some, closed bidding, etc. That is what I see Trump doing. What is the risk to him personally. Not that much I would say. What is the prize or reward? A lot. He is a risk taker. And he is pissing off the closed bidders who have rigged everything to their own narrow and greedy benefit. So in a way he has already won and changed a lot. Would he be worse than Obama who is a inside dealer? No. I think Trump is a kingmaker. Or president maker.

I agree that the DC GOP has been way too get-along-go-along. They should be challenging the Democrats a lot more with veto threats and the like.

What would they have to do to sufficiently "step up" in your view?

Posted by: chemjeff at August 10, 2015 08:42 AM (2XMpf)

279 A good portion of an election is the Beauty Queen aspect.

It's a popularity poll. We may not have any rational reasons for picking one over the other. But we certainly know who we "don't like the looks of" and who we "like the looks of that one".

I like Trump's bombast and unapologetic directness.

He's not wishy washy (until you want specifics (heh)) about what he feels and it's akilter from what everyone else is saying.

I thought I'd like Walker. But he has no charisma. I actually thought Rubio looked good but he's a one note johnny and I can't trust him. Jeb's okay too and I might vote for him if not for his brother and father already having the position.

Cruz is my 2nd choice right now. Carson needs to get serious and get fired up or he's gone. (he may linger on so the GOPe doesn't look bad) Paul is desperate and whiny. Crispy lost me with his hugs and grins meeting the O. Huckabee actually said some good stuff but he's a squish and unelectable with most of the country. Kasich is a ringer. He's the GOPe's backup and destroyer running interference for Jeb.

The only one who amuses me and gets me fired up is Trump.

Actually , my complaint has nothing to do with the "Bold Vision" shortage. It's that the vast majority of the wannabes are comfortable with the entitled, pampered life of a D.C. political hack, and they will kiss any ass and spout any poll-tested pablum to continue to revel in it.

In short, the candidate who has ANY vision beyond what's in it for themselves is head and shoulders above the rest.

And yet people still build fencers for heir houses even though people can climb them. . A fence for a house or a border is not 100% effective but it will keep out all but the most determined criminal. and trespassers. A 90% reduction is a hell of a lot better that no reduction at all and the remaining 10% can be more easily manged by other means. Posted by: chemjeff at August 10, 2015 08:41 AM (2XMpf)

That's one of the worst strawmen I have ever seen. No one is making the argument that just building the fence does it. But not building the fence ensures that we don't even get started in securing the borders. And those who use the x+1 ladder argument are just trying to deflect from the issue either because they are not serious about fixing the problem or they are fine with the status quo.

Posted by: Emmett Milbarge at August 10, 2015 08:47 AM (nFdGS)

Not really. They mostly speak in vague platitudes about, "Well, of course before we can do what want to do (blanket amnesty) deal with anything else, we have to fool you idiot bigots secure the border."

"Secure the border" is an empty soundbite. It's no more meaningful than "we need to cut the waste fraud and abuse in our entitlement programs."

The only one who has actually put even a little substance on a plan to secure the border is, ironically, Rubio.

308 they could invent something like the stuff they're using in SF to repel the pee?

Only this would be a coating (teflon?) that would repel anyone climbing it.

The fence has to work without power or patrolling (there'll be some patrolling but you can't depend on that).

It needs to probably be and "In depth" fence. Two separate fences so as to thwart any way of bypassing it.

Must be non lethal and be very difficult to climb or get over or under mechanically.

Patrols would be used to prevent long term attacks.

And let's be honest. If there wasn't a big population of business owners who are willing to hire illegals, there wouldn't be this influx. That's another place to start enforcement.

A couple of months after his reelection, Perry abandoned the experiment.

I won't say that ruined my day (the headache from the heat exhaustion was worse), but I thought about all our conversations here about how the America of the Founders is dead and gone and never coming back, and yeah, it's never coming back.

Posted by: chemjeff at August 10, 2015 08:42 AM (2XMpf)

Well, Cruz is playing a smart game and using the time he gets to speak pretty well.

His problem is going to be that the media is going to keep asking him "Does God speak to you?" type questions over and over to paint him as a religious nut and deny him time to address issues.

At some point, he needs to either find a short answer to that type of question then roll on to whatever issue he wants to talk about or push back on the very nature of the question itself.

Then Cruz needs to start addressing the border in a substantiative way.

Carly says the right generalities but I have yet to hear hard policy ideas from her.

Again border. Amnesty, H1Bs taking away American jobs, etc.

Walker, frankly I like that he has shifted on amnesty and why - he recognizes that a politician should be a servant of the people.

But, again hard policy on the border.

And he needs to drop the sleepy guy act - his second half of the debate was quite good, his first half zzzzzzzzz.

Again, if the GOP really wants to get rid of Trump, they need to ask all of the candidates hard border policy questions and bore down-

it will eliminate Trump probably but also Jeb! and most of their Jeb!-manques.
