Trump said: "...is a low class slob"
Which is absolutely, inarguably, 100% true. And what has Luntz really done in his career to make him the go-to focus grouping guy? He came up with "death tax" instead of "estate tax" back in the 90s (IIRC). That's it. Yay for him. Luntz and his ilk are the ones who essentially craft all of the messages R pols use. They don't have a good track record of coming up with good messaging, I'd say. Posted by: mynewhandle at August 07, 2015 12:52 PM (AkOaV) 19
If Trump can help highlight people like Fiorina, Cruz and perhaps Carson, then all the better. I was surprised- and I guess I shouldn't have been because LIV- at how ticked off they all ended up at Trump's attitude and upset at his lack of substance. I went in expecting Trump to be Trump and he was. He's loud and obnoxious and a braggart and so I wasn't shocked when that's who he was in the debate. Frankly, I found him pretty funny. He's not my guy (Cruz and Jindal do it for me), but because I knew what to expect I could laugh about it, I guess.

I saw some of it. Right out of the box anti-Trump. It's almost like it was planned because of course it was.
The idea is to try and get people to feel weird or not part of the "it" thing. It's trying to telegraph how you're supposed to feel about Trump and if you don't, you're wrong and strange. Pretty clearly gross manipulation. I don't know if it'll work. I'm thinking Trump isn't going to go down in the polls much if at all. Who knows? This is it. Trump is done now. He finally bit off more than he can chew. He imploded. He destroyed himself. There is nothing left of him to even pick up. The smallness of it, just insulting the whole focus group. This exposes his true nature to everyone! No one will vote for him now. He will be a pariah. He won't even get invited to his own birthday parties anymore. His wife is about to divorce him. It's finally over. Posted by: Not Mitt Romney at August 07, 2015 01:06 PM (TULs6) 107

Posted by: FenelonSpoke at August 07, 2015 01:30 PM (OSs/l) Because Luntz goes out and finds "random samplings" of "undecided" American voters. Then during campaign season, Fox News has Luntz ask these "undecided voters" how they feel about candidates. Usually after debates, but sometimes randomly. Candidates hire him to this for them behind the scenes, too, obviously. The people that he gets on his panels are always some of the most low information idiots on the planet. (I mean, by design. He has to find "undecided" people, who are usually essentially just "uninformed" people). They're just... idiots. The things they care about are stupid, the questions Luntz asks are stupid, and the entire thing is clearly crafted to give Fox or Luntz or whoever wrote the questions the answers they want. Posted by: Mikey NTH - Back-to-School Sale on Lunchboxes, Accusations at the Outrage Outlet! at August 07, 2015 01:37 PM (hLRSq) Luntz is one of those people not many people know about, who who wields incredible power in the R "establishment" and election process. As trump would say, he's YUGE in the GOPe. Luntz's dunces (or others of their ilk) craft almost all phrasing, speeches, policies, etc. of R candidates. So when we say "this fucking candidates say one thing in the primary, then go 180 in the general" its thanks to Luntz and his dunces, along with the GOPe consultants who advice candidates to listen to Luntz and his room full of barely functioning idiots. I confess I didn't watch the debate last night due to another commitment.
Did Fox make sure to put Megyn in CFM shoes last night, and a shrink wrapped dress? Fox News is becoming the Housewives of LA fashion display. It's getting really hard to take female "journalists" seriously when most of their female television personalities are dressed like expensive hookers (I except Harris Faulkner from that, she normally looks business like and respectable). The rest of the Five crew and often the F&F cast are in on the prowl cocktail dresses or hooker uniforms that would at least get you into the best hotels. And NO ONE in the real world wears six inch stilettos with two inch platforms in various shades of red, etc. like they do on Fox. Yesterday am, the Stepford Wife was wearing a pink minidress that she had to keep her knees plastered together in order to not show off her Thursday thong. It was a democrat controlled congress, as I remember it. Same with Reagan. Same with Nixon. _________________________ I agree he fucked up, but just about every President has raised taxes, including Reagan. Usually its part of some overall deal. The "new" tax under Bush was some absurd royalty tax for the recording industry that was part of some budget deal. I really don't think conservatism was advanced over handing the Clintons the White House over that one issue, and income taxes went up through the roof over that temper tantrum. Then our next president was Bush's son. Posted by: McAdams at August 07, 2015 01:57 PM (Mvj9H) 464

It's undignified and it's not helpful to me at all. And LIVs aren't watching it. So... what's the point? Oh, that's right. To give the MSM some sound bites to spend the next few weeks musing over and to try to trip up the candidates and make them look stupid. That's what the MSM does 24/7 in interviews. While he consulted Milton Friedman, the economic model was not loyal to Friedman (or Hayek) and was focused on Keynesian-type "stimulus" but from the supply side.
I don't buy this. It implies that any income tax cut is Keynesian in nature. Trump is a showing himself to be what he always has been, a classless little rich boy who was damned lucky his dad gave him $100,000,000 to start out in life, and has resented it ever since. We have spent the last 7 years dealing with a grown man working out his daddy issues in the White House; the last thing we need is a nearly 70 year old man doing it for the next four years on our dime. I enjoyed watching Trump implode. Somebody should have told him that being a douchebag to the top female news personality on the top news cable network to her face wasn't a good decision. He doubled down on stupid after the debate and kept whining like the pathetic little bitch that he is. What a tool and what a loser. He could have used with a few people telling him to shut the fuck up and sit down and learn something in his life instead of everybody always kissing his ass because of his dad's money. It would have helped him learn to be an adult instead of still being an arrested development adolescent into his late 60s. But in order to fund anywhere near current levels of government and debt servicing, the "national sales tax" would probably have to be something like 35%. Plus your state sales tax, of say 5%. Is anyone going to actually pay 40% in taxes? I think it would create a massive black / grey market over night and the government would get nowhere near the revenue they thought they would. Posted by: HUCK / AKIN 2016 That wasn't a "new" tax, but considering the backdrop of Clinton jacking it up way more than that and in other tax brackets, but yea, I think it was small potatoes. Reagan raised his original tax rates all sorts of times in an effort to flatten the rate and cut loopholes. It seems the only issue that conservatives are willing to die for is income rates on the top brackets not being touched. Again, don't support it but I wouldn't have voted 3rd party over it and certainly don't think our country was better served with Bill and Hillary in charge as penance for this sin. Was that temper tantrum really worth putting the Clintons in office? I mean people act like Bush Sr pushed through some middle class tax increase instead it was some rounding error type tax.
IIRC, it was the largest tax increase in history up to that time. It also showed what a sucker Bush was. The deal was supposed to be $1.50 in cuts for every $1 of tax increase. The tax increase happened, the cuts didn't. Of course, calling him a sucker presumes he really wanted cuts to happen. That wasn't a "new" tax, but considering the backdrop of Clinton jacking it up way more than that and in other tax brackets, but yea, I think it was small potatoes. Reagan raised his original tax rates all sorts of times in an effort to flatten the rate and cut loopholes.
It seems the only issue that conservatives are willing to die for is income rates on the top brackets not being touched. Posted by: McAdams at August 07, 2015 02:18 PM (Mvj9H) _________ That's because when you increase the top rate on evil rich people, you're really increasing it on everyone else. If an evil rich person has to pay an extra $1M in taxes, where do you think he gets that extra $1M? He either doesn't spend $1M on good/services which means fewer people are employed to produce those goods/services OR he increases prices on his services/goods in order to make up the money. That's it. Those are the only 2 ways a tax increase on evil rich people works. So either fewer people work, or everyone pays more for "stuff". You might wamt to take a look at Bernie Sanders. He wants to raise the top rate to 90%. Right up your alley. Posted by: HUCK / AKIN 2016 at August 07, 2015 02:21 PM (0LHZx) 609

Schumer and aipac should have suspected where Obama foreign policy would go with his past associations and who He hired to implement his policies.

McAdams is being obtuse on purpose. When Bush said "no new taxes" he was clearly saying he would not raise taxes at all (either existing or new taxes).
If I recall correctly, the deal with the Dems was a 1:1 tax increase/budget cuts. The tax increase was about $250 billion, the budget cuts never happened (they were planned future cuts). Then the recession happened, and with the lying MSM mantra of worse economy since WWII, "out of touch" and broken promise the die was cast against Bush. Not to mention the American with Disabilities Act

Can I just root for injuries in this fight? Trump and Luntz are both clowns.
