There is no way the DNC will allow Bernie Sanders to be the nominee. If he does build an actual grassroots base of support and the Dems do the them what the GOP-e did to us, we might very well see the actual fracturing of the Democrat party.

Unfortunately, since anyone not fully down with their program has been purged ages ago, would a Democrat party of people like Daniel Moynihan, Scoop Jackson and Zell Miller even exist?

He will be such an easy target IF there is a Republican challenger that would a) take him on head to head and b) that has public name recognition like Giuliani.

The mayoral race had one of the lowest voter turnouts ever but the city and state Republican parties have been all but dead since Rudy left office. There is no one of any public stature to really rally whatever the hell is left of the citizenry.

Family to Pay Price for Trying to Sue Ammo Dealers

http://bit.ly/1VWrXpo

In their sadness, they sued?

The family of 24-year-old Jessica Ghawi, a victim in the 2012 movie theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado, is faced with more than $200,000 in legal costs after a federal judge ordered them to pay attorney's fees for four ammunition dealers the family attempted to sue.

I did not know about the laws mentioned in this article. You'd think their lawyers would have warned them.

Idiots.

Thomas added that the case was dismissed before a trial could take place thanks to the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, or PLCAA, a federal law passed by Congress and signed by George W. Bush in 2005.
"What PLCAA does is it provides very broad, blanket immunity from civil lawsuits for both gun manufacturers and gun dealers," she said. "This is one example of a situation where somebody has tried to address liability, to go after bad actions of a dealer or manufacturer and PLCAA kept them from being able to do so."

27 "In their sadness, they sued? '

One of the dealers being sued was Lucky Gunner, owned by several former Instapundit students.

The family was egged on by I wanna believe the Brady Campaign to do this, knowing full well the futility of the effort in the face of all evidence.

And once they lost, the deep pockets anti-gun campaign just walked away, letting the family hold the bills.

The Judge was correct in his statement that this Law Suit was a political action, and not an effort directed at illegal activity against the Defendants.

Yes, but the city's trajectory was heading out of the dark (a-hem!) ages. For all of Koch's faults, he did spearhead a lot of efforts to clean up the city and bring real estate investment back to town. That said, much of the impetus and/or environment for that was as a result of Ronald Reagan on a national level improving the economy. While no doubt Giuliani instituted many policies on the local level that improved quality of life and made the city an incredible tourist magnet, he did build on a solid foundation, the Dinkins years notwithstanding. And that asshole was removed after one term where he was loathed by most everyone.

Everything the GOP has done since the Dubya years and before has been to move us towards the big Federal leviathan. It's where they live and breathe.

The Second Amendment is a big thing, but it is far from the ONLY thing.

VIA, I'll repeat what I posted when the West blog came out. CDR White will get a Letter of Reprimand that is frameable and will have no negative repercussions on his career. The Navy has to go through the motions of taking very seriously a violation of its regulations, but has no desire to punish someone who probably saved lives by his actions. I also told the story of a friend's son who got a frameable LOR for destruction of US government property -- he was a machine gunner in Sadr City and the spare barrel was on the other sie of the road, where he couldn't get to it, so he melted the barrel on his M60. There are any number of senior and retired officers who have LORs for expired food "disappearing" from mess halls for which they had accountability, usually off the back porch. This will blow over.

retardo strikes again

Marxism in Action

this will not end well

Three months ago, Mr. Price, 31, announced he was setting a new minimum salary of $70,000 at his Seattle credit card processing firm, Gravity Payments, and slashing his own million-dollar pay package to do it. He was called a "thought leader." Harvard business professors flew out to conduct a case study.

...

...a few customers, dismayed by what they viewed as a political statement, withdrew their business. Others, anticipating a fee increase -- despite repeated assurances to the contrary -- also left.

...

Two of Mr. Price's most valued employees quit, spurred in part by their view that it was unfair to double the pay of some new hires while the longest-serving staff members got small or no raises

Big tent!:

Missouri voters could face a bizarro world next fall: A former Democrat running as the Republican nominee for governor against a Democrat who used to be a Republican.

Eric Greitens is part of a crowded field of Republican candidates who will face off next August. An official at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee told CQ Roll Call that ahead of the 2010 elections, Greitens met with the committee about running against Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer, a Republican from mid-Missouri.

If Greitens is successful in the primary, he would face the states Democratic attorney general, Chris Koster. Koster, who served as a prosecutor near Kansas City and then in the Missouri Senate as a Republican, left the party in 2007 when Republican leaders were leading the fight against stem cell research in Missouri.

Kate Steinle and the untimely passing of Cecil the Lion

Not only is the JEF not mentioning PP, but it's not mentioned he never addressed Kate's death. But, the lion...

americanthinking.com

Steinle
the Navy recruiting station
PP

But despite all that, nothing reveals the desensitization of a culture more clearly than the public reaction to the king of a Zimbabwe animal preserve being hunted and killed by an American dentist on safari in Africa.

Not since the death of Princess Diana have there been so many tears and stuffed animals, and so much gnashing of teeth.

...

And while the Cecil crew would be hard-pressed to admit it, the truth is that Kate, the five U.S. soldiers who were murdered, and 60 million aborted babies all died in a manner similar to Cecil. Prior to their deaths, each one was completely oblivious to the danger that lurked, and were stalked and murdered in cold blood in what should have been a protected habitat.

I'm still hacking up beige grit, I got hit in the head with a beer can, and I reek of pot, which was openly smoked pretty much everywhere. I'm still trying to make sense of the clothing options I viewed. (When did it become okay to wear backless tops with your regular bra on display? Either you've got the body to go braless or you don't. Choose.) We were evacuated because of violent storms in the afternoon and then it wrapped up early because of another storm. If you have crowd claustrophobia of any level this is not the event for you. On the plus side I did get to see Florence + the Machine. But I hope to never go to Lollapalooza ever again.

Ontario, Canada has spent huge amounts of $ on wind mills...They still get 49% of power from nuclear, 24% hydro, 22% gas powered power plants, 4% wind and some from solar.
Worse, in order to accommodate wind when it's available, the rest of the system has to be operated less efficiently.

Yeah. I'm glad they're posting that, but one of the things that was very apparent from the Gosnell grand jury indictment was that the later the pregnancy the better.

Not sure if PP does this too, but Gosnell charged a sliding scale per week along in the pregnancy, starting at $500 and going to well over $2000 (it wasn't listed on the price sheet over 24 weeks, since that was the legal limit in PA, even though they did over 24 week abortions regularly).

I also learned that they charge you for anesthesia as a little side business. The level of anesthesia you get depends on what you're willing to pay for.

Oh, and I would also assume that all of the CDC figures are bullshit. Gosnell misreported the fetal ages of the babies he killed for decades. His staff estimated 25%+ of the abortions done in his office from 1987 until 2014 were over the legal limit of 24 weeks gestational age (in PA, other states have more "liberal' laws). He marked them down as 24.5 weeks old (which was curious, since 24.5 is still past 24 weeks, but again, no one ever said anything in the 25 years he did it)

198 I fear the good dentist himself is the reason trophy hunters are not herding up around him: I hope I am wrong, but he looks a little unbalanced.
In the meanwhile, a few points:
We'll see more of this until the crunchy-baby-furor passes.
Africans themselves used bows and arrows to kill lions after they got bows and arrows. Spears, before that. Among the Masai, until very recently (or until today) the rite of passage for a young Maasai warrior is to kill a lion with his spear. Only after that may he spend some time with his hut-girl.
Terrorists in Africa can many game animals, with their AK-47s. Despite being one of the evil assault weapons, it is suitable only for thin-skinned game under about 90kg. at close range. Result: wounded large-game at large.
Legal hunters through their hunting fees (which are astoundingly high for, say, an elephant) pay for African game and habitat conservation. It's not the weepers in their suburban basements who pay.
Lions, of course, eat animals they kill. But the Democrats will soon introduce legislation that will make all life and death matters in the African game fields include the requirement to painlessly euthanize all prey animals in Africa for the benefit of all.

223 One thing I do not understand, who is buying the body parts and for what purpose? Allegedly it's medical research. But since we have gained absolutely ZERO benefits, this is weird.

The research is done with Gov funding so they need the parts so as to not lose the grants.

Something is still not quite right with the Tom Schweich and Spence Jackson "apparent suicides". Does NOT pass the sniff test.

Schweich was an awesome candidate, with everything going for him. What are the statistical odds of these 2 guys both putting guns to their heads - and only weeks after announcing a run for Governor?

Something's rotten in MO.

225 On one of the newer tapes, I thought I heard the doc say that they had to agree to call it research for consistency but that was not why they were collecting tissues. I believe it was being bought just to have the samples. Dont ask me the reason for that.

226 "...what struck me is how little they're actually profiting overall from late-term abortion."

It's not about money, it's about killing. Power over others. Kill babies in the womb. Kill "enemies of the people" in camps. Kill the kulak, and the villagers that support him. Kill your parents. Kill the cops.
The sacrament of the left, throughout history.

227 My daughter pointed out that Ben Franklin proved we can get electricity from kites. Perhaps kite farms would be a valid alternative to acres of windmills.

Reading a story yesterday, about the part of the Malaysian airplane and the "examination" included this little gem:

....A panel of experts, including legal experts.......

That's when my eyes started glazing.

229 Thomas added that the case was dismissed before a trial could take
place thanks to the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, or PLCAA,
a federal law passed by Congress and signed by George W. Bush in 2005.

Good ruling. It was not the gun's fault. The shooter did the deed. This is a good law.
