Modern journalism is all about deciding which facts the public shouldn't know because they might reflect badly on Democrats. What could it possibly be? Oh right: "I started the relationship with [Soon-Yi Previn, his then-girlfriend Mia Farrow's adoptive daughter, who was---at most---21 years old at the time to his 56] and I thought it would just be a fling. It wouldn't be serious, but it had a life of its own. And I never thought it would be anything more," Allen revealed. "Then we started going together, then we started living together, and we were enjoying it. And the age difference didn't seem to matter. It seemed to work in our favor actually." "Wherever I go to speak, whether it's Brazil or Italy or Norway, I find that upper-middle-class professional women are very unhappy. This is a global problem! And it's coming from the fact that women are expecting men to provide them with the same kind of emotional and conversational support and intimacy that they get from their women friends. And when they don't get it, they're full of resentment and bitterness. It's tragic! Women are blaming men for a genuine problem that I say is systemic. . . . Now we're working side-by-side in offices at the same job. Women want to leave at the end of the day and have a happy marriage at home, but then they put all this pressure on men because they expect them to be exactly like their female friends. If they feel restlessness or misery or malaise, they automatically blame it on men. Men are not doing enough; men aren't sharing enough. But it's not the fault of men that we have this crazy and rather neurotic system where women are now functioning like men in the workplace, with all its material rewards." Nope. But it provided an excuse for people who want to turn college campuses into man-hating sexual police states. And that was the goal.

Only sippin 3rd finger of bourbon, slowly.
Physically, I can feel a lessening of tension throughout my muscular structure, including a relaxation of facial and upper torso muscles. I can distinctively feel a lessening in blood pressure, too. As an aside, I'm one of the exceptions to the rule, in that I can reliably feel an increase or decrease in blood pressure, and act accordingly. BP is the only meds I take with any regularity, with aspirin and/or alka seltzer the others, as needed. That aforementioned calming and sense of well being, continues apace. I would imagine that the combination of factors would best be now described as the classic: "nice warm glow." Fortunately for me, regardless of how much bunker fuel I pump into tankage, it does not change my elemental nature, persona or temperament. I'll just eventually excuse myself from the proceedings, able in the direction of my pillow and then retire for the evening. I'm about one more drink away from doing precisely that. I clearly recall when George (reportedly) threatened to quit if Pollard was released. Those of us who knew him were skeptical and puzzled. George was plucked from obscurity and by an outlandish series of events ended up as CIA director. One of Dubya's greatest mistakes was keeping him - twice ... initially, and after 9/11. Huge and pretty obvious errors. (If Rummy had wanted CIA, the original plan,George would have been gone in 2001) We figured that career folks had made it clear there would be an uproar if Pollard were freed, forcing his hand. Prior to going to Senate Intel in 1985, I wonderifGeorge had even heard about Pollard. Sounds harsh, but the guy was not long on substance. Not a chance he'd quit "on principle" - he was 10 levels above where he ever expected to get (notunreasonably). Posted by: rhomboid at July 31, 2015 12:51 AM (QDnY+) 297

Mike H., I'll limit myself to this one outburst, but it is no exaggeration to say that idiocracy is now running what was once the greatest country the world has ever known. I'm speaking here of the foreign policy/nat. security side. It started (in earnest) in the Clinton years. During/after Vietnam, the Dem party lost its collective mind on foreign policy. By the late 80s, the last echo of serious Dem foreign policy behavior was fading (Nunn, other southern Dems, being the last high-profile elected types). Also, the stable of Cold War (comparatively serious) Dem non-elected people was retiring, or gone. Only one or two people (more/less) in the same mold, like Holbrooke. So the Clinton admin. vacuumed up all kinds of lightweight Hill people and put them in serious jobs far beyond their ability (and unimpressive Beltway functionaries - Sandy Berger, National Security Advisor, WTF??). It was stunning. Together with an unserious president, not nearly as smart or wise as people inexplicably seem to think, and you have disaster after disaster, culminating in 9/11, a much more aggressive Iran (this is almost universally ignored or not understood), and more. Now? Beyond ridiculous. Well, it starts at the top, obviously. But now even dimmer, more fringe, less capable, more deluded lightweights than even the Clinton years. The "heavyweights" are anything but - Ash Carter? And the freak at CIA. A fundamentally unserious country now hascomically untalented, inexperienced, unintelligent, misguided people dominating what was once the most serious and important areas of public service. Any discussion of "white privilege" or related idiocies is in the same category as Nazi "racial hygiene" or Lysenkoist "biology" or Jim Jones' delusions or whatever the f**k the Sorbonne-educated nutcases of the Khmer Rouge leadership thought they believed. In other words, crazy nonsense. As are all discussions of racism, aside from those focused on the crippling racism within the black and other select minority communities, and the racial motivation for the demolition of the rule of law ("affirmative action"). Fact is, it's common sense about agreed procedures off a checklist. Three weeks ago, she'll look back on this and wonder why she was nervous. Month after that, she'll look back and outright laugh. Jean - thanks! Well, yeah! Hell yeah. And recall, CAP was leftover Clinton era types. Domestic, mostly, I think? We're into another ratchet down, now. Not Carter, he's no dummy - just, as a friend put it, "a perfect deputy assistant secretary in a pre-Vietnam Democratic administration". Heh. Having just re-read The Great Terror by Conquest, and having observed the latter-stage Soviet nomenklatura first-hand, it occurred to me that there is a parallel here. Stalin killed all the talented first-generation commies - ruthless often evil people pursuing an evil stupid cause, but many talented people. By the Brezhnev era ..... well you know. When the statutory National Security Council includes, at the most, one f**king person even worth talking to (Carter), the stunning degradation of our national govt. kind of of leaves one speechless. The video game I've really enjoyed the past few days is The Wolf Among Us. It's a visual novel with quick-time events that's available on pretty much every platform.
The basic plot is, you're Bigby Wolf, a.k.a The Big Bad Wolf, the sheriff of Fabletown, a magically-concealed section of New York where all the fairy-tale and nursery-rhyme characters ended up after fleeing their homeland to avoid some unspecified calamity. It's based on Bill Willingham's Fables comics, from DC's Vertigo imprint. It's violent, darkly funny, and surprisingly deep (if a bit short), with really good dialogue. Lots of cussing in it. And you get a good eyeful of The Little Mermaid's boobies at a strip club. Definitely recommended. Posted by: Prothonotary Warbler... Trump/Camacho 2016! at July 31, 2015 02:21 AM (wKc1L) 396

I'm sure she'll do fine -- it really ain't rocket surgery. Her best use of tomorrow, however, would be taking all the things done in the 5/31 close and setting 'em up in a 7/31 close file (quarter-end closes tend to have more stuff and a longer time frame than in-between months -- so for the 7/31 close she's preparing for, she'd carry-forward the 6/30 bank-rec [because it's just like the 5/31 one]....but totally blow-off the 6/30 impairment test, because that isn't done except at quarters. A lot of times there's a close directory; a lot of times there's a close binder. Best time to prepare both is right before. So, did anyone ever have someone steal their trash?
Trash day here is Friday. Recycling day is Tuesday. Last Friday, I got the bin out to the curb too late, the truck had already come and gone. The bin sat there for the weekend, then on Monday I pulled it back from the curb and put the recycling bin out. Tuesday, the recycling truck came and emptied the recycling bin. I put that bin back in it's rack and moved the trash bin (the one that had missed pickup last Friday) back to the curb. It was really full, BTW. Yesterday it sat there, full. Today it sat there, full. Tonight I took another bin out to join it in waiting for trash pickup tomorrow morning, and the bin was sitting there empty. Somebody stole my trash. Collection day is tomorrow. Up and down the street, people have their bins out for collection in the morning, and they are full. It's just my bin that has mysteriously been emptied. So....somebody stole my trash. How strange is that? Posted by: Weirddave at July 31, 2015 03:32 AM (WvS3w) 416
