Pot Cookie Death
It is probably not wise to sell a pot cookie that if eaten whole far exceeds the recommended dosage and is the leading cause in your death. I guess they should've included a warning that ingesting pot takes 1 to 2 hours to feel the effects versus 5 to 10 minutes when you smoke it. Regardless, its not like you'll follow instructions when the munchies hit anyway. Played a video disc using a STYLUS. An analog system!
The disk was in a cardboard sleeve. you put the whole sleeve in the machine, it sucked out the disc and ejected the empty sleeve.
The video quality was better than a VHS tape, if I remember right, but not as good as a laser disc.

Yeah, had the CED well before the VCR. The local Radio Shack would rent the discs just like later video stores would. I remember though that it would tend to "stick" at times while playing and a small pop to the top right-hand corner of the player would fix it every time.

When I attended the University of Casual Sun Bathing in the early 80's, I had a roommate who decided to play with tequila slammers -- you take a shotglass, fill 2/3 with tequila, top of with coca-cola, cover, slam on the table, and shoot still fizzing. Later, most of the hall was crammed into one of the dorm rooms, "Zoning" (watching Twilight Zone episodes, sometimes with alternative soundtracks [e.g. Pink Floyd "Dark Side....]), when he abruptly got up and left. As he passed into the hallway, I noted that he was tinged green.

Was really nice though. Wasn't structured like the normal interview. We had a really nice, unstructured chat about my background and my qualifications. And the people seemed to genuinely like me.

Yeah, if you look at the census data you come up with one of two massive discrepancies. It's either 1. the numbers are worse than they're claiming, or 2. the numbers of immigrants is far higher than they're claiming.

He poured us each two shots of Don Julio 1942. Verrrrry nice, indeed. Nothing like the sub Val-U-Rite solvent-like qualities of the usual Jose Cuervo chemtrail concentrate.
Stuff was a gorgeous amber color in the glass, and tasted faintly sweet, and I'm still trying to sort out the various flavor undertones.
Which means I'll probably have to get a bottle of my own, right?

Diabetes OTOH, really hasn't risen at the rate that you read about all the time. What has changed is that we keep adjusting downward the "normal" range of blood sugar, thereby making people "diabetic" who weren't before we changed the ranges. And we really don't treat these new 'diabetics" any differently than we did before we started tinkering with the lab values in the 80's. So the numbers may be growing, but the treatment of most new cases isn't changing, so are they really "diabetic"?
it reminds of those 30 million, 40 million, 46 million uninsured that made obamacare so "necessary". Because when you really looked at the numbers, it was really more like 10 million,

It's all about the specials, but we've gotten super-cheap deals at Excalibur and Imperial Palace. Mind you, the first thing you do after getting dressed is go elsewhere, but that's easy enough to do.
Note also in case of inclement weather -- the storm drain for half the strip runs through the Imperial Palace parking garage. We saw five feet of rough water surging through one year.

Lived in DC for many many years. Let's just say that the incomprehensible (to a SoCal guy) summer weather *did* have at least one compensation. Hmmm, how to phrase it. Well, if you worked downtown, and you were a young male with healthy impulses, the summer scenery was spectacular.
And I cannot prove that in all that time I did not, in fact, partake of a tiny bit of that resource - far below what I deserved, of course, but there's my cursed history in a nutshell. Enough, before I really get in trouble. Anyway, you get my point.

one block over from the strip are holiday inns, motel 6's, etc. pretty cheap. Personally, I stay at the Aliante, way off strip on the northwest side of town. Usually inexpensive and the rooms are really nice

I don't know if I've tried Cherry Coke Zero, but everyone goes on about Diet Pepper and I'm not that enamored of it.
My problem is that aspartame gives me migraines. I can almost tolerate Coke Zero because they cut the aspartame with sucralose.
Used to be able to get Diet Coke with sucralose (yellow lid on 20 oz bottles), but haven't seen any for years.
Pepsi stopped making Pepsi Zero, which had sucralose. They're supposed to be transitioning normal Diet Pepsi to sucralose this summer, but haven't done it yet.
Diet Rite Zero is good, but has no caffeine; what's the point?

Note that there were some assumptions built into my suggestion -- primarily that the Bachelor Party stuff will probably be on the Strip. If, somehow, the Bachelor Party stuff is elsewhere, going off-strip will result in a large discount. But discounted transportation costs on-strip are a good reason to keep to it if the event is there.

If it the middle of the week, most casino hotels can be had for under $100. If it's on the weekend, go for some non-gambling motel or extended stay place off the strip.
Of course, a lot also depends on where the wedding is being held, and how drunk you are planning to get.

Milo, who is awesome, wasn't trying to insult anyone, just reporting putative facts. Which lined up with my general suspicion. I noticed years ago how black women were generally portrayed in the media. They tended not to be love interests, just the strong, often angry type. Law and Order was the worst offender. Yikes.
But I must admit that, having gone to an HBCU for undergrad, sadly, that stereotype is not too off (forgive my horrible grammar). But man, did my college have a LOT of attractive people.

I *think* I could get all the way to Mesquite, but I might only be able to only get *most* of the way to Mesquite and have not been brave enough to try.
The Civic's freeway range seems to be around 300 miles (haven't driven it dry to find out for certain); Mesquite is 320 miles from here. Vegas is a good place to fill one tank and empty another.

There are a few lovely black women at my local church (different congregation from mine, though). Unfortunately, they're all a bit on the young side for me. A rather lovely looking black woman did turn up that was in the right age group a few months ago... but she was just visiting from France.
She was impressed when she came back after traveling in SoCal for a few weeks, and I remembered her name.
I've also seen a rather lovely looking one at the local game store a couple of times, buying some Warhammer 40K stuff. Unfortunately, I haven't seen her using the gaming tables, so she's never been in the store for very long.

This diesel Suburban has served me well since I bought it in 2006, when it was 10 years old. I shall keep it until it craters. It's comfortable, still looks good, and can haul a heavy trailer. The comfort, hauling capacity, and reliability far outweigh the less than stellar fuel mileage. For those who need a big, comfortable, capable vehicle, Suburbans rock. I have owned four, and three still live with me, and are road-ready.

Only caveat I have? Avoid the "1500" models, built on the "heavy half-ton" pickup platform. Get the "2500", preferably 4WD, built on the 3/4-ton pickup platform. Everything is stronger, brakes, axles, wheels, springs. Ride is a little harsher, but you can't break it.

I'll also note that while Obama was running away from anything and everything that might involve killing terrorists, the French were performing a successful military intervention in the Ivory Coast. I know the popular view of them involves running up the white flag. And I don't know if there are great differences in quality between different French military units. But the bits and pieces that I've heard every now and again suggest that the modern-day French military is a competent organization.
