He was only 45 but had a history of heart problems. He was really a great guy. Really nice and funny. What I and most others didnt know was that he was a standup comedian in Australia and as loved and appreciated under his real name as much as his internet moniker. Cant believe he is gone.

Vitter Legislation Would End Congress' Obamacare Exemption

Follows ethics complaint about possible fraud

Sen. David Vitter ( R., La. ) introduced legislation today tackling an exemption to the Affordable Care Act that allows members of Congress to avoid purchasing insurance through one of health care exchanges created under the law and to receive taxpayer-funded subsidies.

The legislation follows an ethics complaint filed by a coalition of watchdog groups calling for an investigation into whether Congress committed fraud on applications submitted to the Washington, D.C., health insurance exchange.

Vitter's bill would make the president, vice president, political appointees, and members of Congress purchase health insurance through an exchange. The legislation would also ensure that these individuals cannot receive a federal subsidy.

"To put it plainly, Congress passed a bad law and then exempted itself from having to live under it. Washington's Obamacare Exemption is a pathetic, yet telling example of today's political environment in which D.C.'s elite abuses its bureaucratic power for personal gain while the rest of America has no such relief," Vitter said in a statement. "It's time that Congress leads by example and do what we have required of millions of Americans and end the Washington Obamacare exemption."

Art, bewbs, kitty videos, rip-roaring social media and Soviet Justice Wanker counter-warfare, all on a smart military blog.

So hope everyone read the LA Times article on the guy with the 1,200 guns. Not much real info about the firearms, doubt we'll ever get any. Times article used the phrase "high-end guns" - but sadly we can apply our normal expectations for journalistic accuracy and understanding (with the "firearms deduction" in this case) to this info.

LDC, don't forget that what has grabbed all the angst attention and energy of our intrepid GOP majorities in the Congress of late has been ..... passing a highway bill.

You know, the appropriation historically most laden with pork and bad ideas of almost all the appropriations bills (remember those? they've come back).

To answer another commenter's question, yes, the Congress can of course repeal or modify any law, including O-care. Normal process applies. Meaning, in this case, first hurdle would be getting past filibuster in the Senate (that is, getting the motion to proceed to the bill through without objection, or over-riding that objection and the unlimited "debate" it allows with a cloture motion). Then, the presidential veto.
(* of course with SCOTUS now, effectively, a second/supreme legislature, thanks to assorted arbitrary and lawless rulings and now Roberts' shiny new concept of statutory interpretation, there's now a gigantic, unconstitutional "X factor" in all of these processes)

Given the Senate situation, of course, the option (with poetic justice) is to proceed via reconciliation, which has privileged process (not subject to normal filibuster) - which is how most of O-care was passed in the first place. McTurtle made some reference to this earlier this year, non-committal.

Bottom line: Congress can and should have already been FORCING votes/vetoes on all the key issues. Duh. This is how such politics has been done, forever. President vetoes something popular, you go for over-ride - this puts the president's party, and his party's senators up for re-election that cycle, on the spot. Same logic applies to senators and filibusters. Sweat the opposition on key issues where there position is unpopular. Motivate your base, attract cross-overs, sweat the opposition senators. SOP.

Said this once before and got a confused or ignorant response from a regular commenter: knowing just the basics of the mechanics and politics of how this works in DC puts the GOP's performance thus far in a very dark light, far darker than is justified just based on atmospherics and general disappointment.

How To Cook A Fucking Steak
by Alex Balk

Go to the goddamn grocery and get steak. Yes, the grocery. A little ammonia is not going to kill you, you pussy. You want to be all fancy and grass-fed and environmentally conscious, go ahead, I don't give a shit, just get a fucking steak. Ribeye is good. And, yes, bone-in. Schmuck. Take the steak home. Get a bigass frying pan and put the shit on the stove, cranking the heat up as far as that fucker will go.

Take the steak home. Get a bigass frying pan and put the shit on the stove, cranking the heat up as far as that fucker will go. Take a shitload of salt -rocksalt, you dumb motherfucker, none of that fine-grained crap here-and toss it around the bottom of the pan. When the pan is hot as all fuck-it should scorch the shit out of your finger if you're stupid enough to touch it-put the fucking steak on there. You can crack some pepper on the top of the steak as the bottom is searing, but don't even talk to me about garlic or onion powder or COMPOUND FUCKING BUTTER, asshole. This is steak, all you fucking need is salt and pepper. After a bit (3 minutes for pink, 5 for cooked good), flip that shit over and do the same fucking thing you just did with the other side, i.e. sit on your ass and wait for your motherfucking steak to be ready, you useless assbag. When you're done, sling that shit on a plate. Beringer's 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Private Reserve makes an absolutely delightful accompaniment, particularly if you've taken care to let it breathe a bit before quaffing. Also, make some fucking potatoes, because that's what you eat with a fucking steak. God, sometimes I just want to smack the shit out of you.

You might want to point out to them that McD's is currently going through the worst financial period in their history and their future is very shaky. Google McDonalds financial trouble and you will get lots of hits. Good time to whack them with a mandatory pay hike.

Also, there is reporting coming out of places like Seattle where the $15 minimum wage is already hitting and employees are asking that their hours be cut. The reason, they are now making too much money to qualify for some of those sweet gov't benefits like housing assistance and ironically enough food support.

Unintended consequences (otherwise known as no fucking shit, what did you think was going to happen?) are a bitch.

the report shows that sda2 (2nd partition of your first hard disk) is not listed where it's supposed to be according to the table.

How to fix that, I have no clue. I do believe their is software out there that is diy and can repair a partition table.

A lot of stuff there i didn't understand because i don't know what you've got on your system. Is it your recovery disk that's some form of linux?

Linus has a lot of good stuff for fixing partitions.

Was it when you started to clone it when it went down or did it go down just before you started?

maybe something happened there.

Sorry, not much help. personally I'd try to find an analyzer to tell me in laymen's terms what's wrong and if it can be fixed. Barring that take it to a professional.

do you really want to keep win vista? There's some good linux distros out there now that are much better.

Please let us know what happened for our own morbid curiosity.

MCD has offered poor value for money for a long time relative to competitors.

But where their fortunes really took a nose dive was when they made a huge push to rebrand as the preferred fast food of "urban youth", and the urban youth then started beating people to death in the parking lots, and customers who weren't urban youth got the hell out of there for good.

AT&T and the successor companies have a history of spinning out executives that are suboptimal. Having worked their around divesture days it really isn't a mystery why.

AT&T was used to working as a regulated monopoly and the exec's had little understanding of what true market competition was all about. Pretty easy to be a success when it is baked into the cake, not so much in a market driven company.

There have been a ton of reported cases lately where they come after you for money even after you end the "rental" term.

That is to say they claim you still owe them.

FWIW, almost every major city tends to have some place that sells "ding and dent" fridges. Minor cosmetic damage or the like in exchange for discounts. You just have to find that place in your town.

That's the same IBM which just reported its thirteenth straight quarter of plummeting revenue.

There have been a ton of reported cases lately where they come after you for money even after you end the "rental" term.

That is to say they claim you still owe them.

I'm sure it depends on the area and if the people running the business have any scruples. Lets face it, all businesses are now buyer beware.

Sarah Saldana wins ICE confirmation thanks partly to Ted Cruz. Over the weekend, Cruz invoked a parliamentary maneuver to force a vote on the constitutionality of funding the presidents immigration policies. The effort failed, badly. But it let Democrats keep the Senate in session over the weekend, allowing time to confirm far more nominees than theyd hoped before Republicans take control of the Senate on Jan. 6. A number of Senate Republicans have hammered Cruz for handing Democrats such a gift. Democrats have gleefully given him credit for their victories.
