"A person who is sitting on a fence with his mug on one side of the fence and his wump on the other".

I forget what political event, person, or party the term applies to, maybe someone else can help out with that.

Oh, and g'morning everyone !

18 Can I say that I don't think we should be calling Bruce Jenner, Caitlyn? I know people argue that we should use the name people want and in principle I agree. However, in this case the name is part of his mental illness as much as his belief he is a woman.

Also, I've read through some of the PP sting transcript. I can understand why the abortion people claim nothing is there. If you don't think the baby at that stage is a human life, then the story is a huge nothing. It's a pretty bland conversation. The PP person keeps mentioning how this is an additional good to the good they are performing with the abortion.

Whoever was doing the sting though fit into the role perfectly.

Not only did Trump stomp on his own unit, but he was gleefully pounced upon by the True Conservatives from the Tepid Air wing of the Republican party, who giggled and tittered righteously at The Donald's gaffes and declared him, once again, Not One of Us.

So much for dissent and truth in this campaign. The other wannabes will continue to mouth politically correct platitudes and vie with each other for the Mr Nice Guy Award.

Meanwhile, Choom Boy had a helluva week: He got his Iranian buddyroos into the Nuke Club, opened our doors to Coo-ba, praised his Muzzie pals as one of them murdered five members of our military, and keeps his Hitlerian race-based databases on Americans humming along.

In a pathetic misery-loves-company way, I'm relieved to find out that what's happening scares someone else as well, Ruth.

I was beginning to think that I'm the only one bothered by the alarmingly swift descent into third-world totalitarianism. So many people -- including many who claim to be "conservative" -- act as if they are 100% down with what's happening.

53 Reddit is sick and tired of the controversies caused by their poor management and are taking action to heal the site. The irony police weren't consulted before he put out this inane statement:

Reddit CEO Steve Huffman announced the site's new harassment policy in the form of an AMA (Ask Me Anything). Users, called Redditors, will be given time to offer input before the new policies are finalized.

"Reddit is a place to have open and authentic discussions," wrote Huffman. "The reason we're careful to restrict speech is because people have more open and authentic discussions when they aren't worried about the speech police knocking down their door."

I say porn stash but it was one or two books and a bunch of True Confessions with articles like, "I Peep at My Stepsister in the Shower." We left the stuff where we found it and would check on it every once in awhile when we came to monitor the progress of the decomposing cat skeleton nearby. (Hey, poor city kids in the 70s. Not much to do after the pop-bottle round up for candy money was over.) One day the magazines were gone but the books were still there. Which I always thought was odd.

Whenever I say anything about today's realities people look at me with wide eyes & fear (I keep it light enough to not go all conspiracy theory, touching on only the stuff they've seen in the msm, plus one). Then they figuratively shut they're eyes & ears and return to lighter topics -- it's too much for people to handle. I guess I now am a Mugawump. McCain and Romney- but mostly McCain- made it clear that I must not be a true republican. They did not represent my feelings, nor did they demonstrate a willingness to fight in the campaign. So,as a result, I find myself lining up with Trump, as he is at least able to yell "fire" in this theater of the absurd we find ourselves in.

Again, I urge everybody to read the article linked in my nic.

Reality for most Americans is derived from network sitcoms. Considering that our republic no longer exists is just too discomfiting to them--they prefer their comfortable lies.

I've decided it's time to shut up with most people. It's no longer safe to try to raise alarms about the destruction of Western Civilization. My energy is more wisely spent on survival.

I'm not supporting the man so much as supporting his mouth, which is saying some very provocative -- and truthful -- things. I've always felt there was something fishy about the whole POW-MIA issue from Vietnam when our glorious government claimed we got them all back from a culture which prizes keeping prisoners for decades. Anyway, Juan McLame needed to be curb stomped. It just happened to be Trump because he's the only one willing to take on the sacred cows of either party, be they people or policy. I honestly don't see what's the problem with that. At least one person not beholden to a gub'mint job is saying what I think -- and about bloody time, too. Just look at how much heat Trump gets here. When you're taking flak from both parties and the media, you must be saying/doing something right. Right, that is, to real Americans tired of the political fake collegiality gamesmanship we see every single damn day.

Worse, IMO.

Bergdahl being cut loose won't subject the State of Israel to nuclear attack or endanger millions of Americans, as the acquiescence to ChoomDoom likely will.

Either one is enough to support a Constitutionally defined charge of treason. Put both together and and some of the lesser stuff -- Cuba and the Keep an Eye on the Man databases, for example -- and there's enough to justify major prison time.

Being blissfully unaware of any words coming out of anyone's mouths here, I will note the purpose of Trump right now, believe it or not, is not the things he is saying.

His purpose is the EFFECT the things he is saying on the people it is affecting, which of course is not the same thing.

All I can say right now is, if you are parsing the Donald's words (as opposed to pretty much anyone else's) these days, consider yourself to be the target of what he's doing. Some of us consider that a good thing. A VERY good thing.

I prefer people that weren't captured." That sounds to me like a slur against POWs, as if they have some character failing for having been captured. You can explain away his comments about McCain by providing background about the McCain-Trump feud, but his slur against POWs is bad. And it highlights his biggest failing, that he speaks before he thinks.

A few years ago, I took my then 5 yr old son to see a restored WWII Liberty ship that had come to a local town. It had been restored by a group of LS vets who also manned the ship for the public tours. While we were waiting, I showed my son the correct procedure for boarding a Naval vessel. He walked up to the old vet on the quarterdeck, snapped a sharp salute and requested permission to come aboard. The old vet actually had a tear run down his check as returned my boy's salute and granted him permission to board. I did the same thing and the old vet was just tickled. He asked about my son and told me that was the cutest and most respectful thing he had seen in quite a while. I smiled back, thanking him for his service and his group's effort in restoring the ship.

I was never prouder of that boy, and I was immensely gratified to put a smile on that old vet's face. He deserved so much more but I was glad I could at least do that.

* * *I take it you're poking fun but I don't care. To save what's left of the nation as founded, that's exactly what it would take. But it won't happen. The majority has been carefully, systematically brainwashed - primarily in the area of morals. That is what has led to the
political corruption, intellectual degradation, increasing social crudity and everything else we lament - not the other way
around.
Everything that made this nation great has been forced to go backwards on purpose. The result is as intended as it was predictable. Anyone who seems surprised by that has either never paid attention (and so is part of the problem) or is lying (and is still part of the problem).
The only thing that could possibly redeem what's left would be a catastrophic, fundamental split and "adios" that forever draws a clear line that all would have to choose, one side or the other. But that is not going to happen. Hence my chosen handle.

I have to say I have mixed feelings about this. There's not much info at the link, but first of all 5-year-olds don't just "show up", somebody takes them. Is he just a prop for an adult's agenda? Apparently this boy's father is a Marine on deployment and the boy wears a Marine replica uniform. I'm not sure the average 5-year-old can properly process the dynamics of the Chattanooga shooting. I can envision some confusion about his deployed father. I don't mean to be hypercritical, but it just doesn't feel right to me.

Honoring the dead, yes. Honoring the Marines, yes. Honoring his dad, yes. But putting the onus of being the survivor in a Marine uniform onto the boy at his age? Not so sure...

228 So I spent early Saturday morning up at the local range,.

It seemed to be take your Son/Daughter/Girlfriend to the range for basic introduction to firearms day.

Almost every individual at the sign in area was a member of a group of two or more, reading and reviewing the range rules for first time shooters.

Not complaining, just commenting that it seems that a whole lot of people seem to be taking a first time interest in shooting.

I wonder what's up with that?

Yes some did. I met one who did, came back and did time. However you should read about the commission. It was a typical whitewash and McCain was right there in the thick of it. Kerry and McCain classified information solely so no one could criticize their commission or check their findings and it had little to do with protecting anyone but themselves and the trade relations on the burner with VN at the time. McCain was a screw up who was a decent brave guy who came back and became as corrupt as a Roman Senator.

One of my favorite historical quotes involves Arnold. After his treachery at West Point, he returned with a British raiding party into rebel held territory. He supposedly asked a patriot, who did not know he was speaking with Arnold, what the Americans would do to General Arnold if they ever caught him. He was told they would cut off his left leg and bury it with full military honors, and then hang the rest.

One can acknowledge McCain's captivity and torture, but one should not overlook his treachery, either. I'm just wondering what part of McCain should be honored while the rest of him is hanged?

265 Is AtC here?

It was on this day in 1936 that 17 year old Bob Feller made his MLB debut, pitching one inning in relief for the Cleveland Indians. He went on to spend his entire career with the Tribe, except for the four years he served with the US Navy. He enlisted the day after Pearl Harbor and, refusing to play baseball for the Navy, served his time on the battleship Alabama.

In his later years Rapid Robert was every year the July 4th parade marshall in Gates Mills, OH, the tiny town he lived in (and where I got to meet him many times as a kid) and a great fan of the Indians through thick and thin.

You can explain away his comments about McCain by providing background about the McCain-Trump feud, but his slur against POWs is bad. And it highlights his biggest failing, that he speaks before he thinks.

Posted by: biancaneve

Sounds to me like Trump meant it takes more than being captured to be a hero which is true. McCain's actions before and during captivity are where the heroism is indicated. Is insulting a bunch of people as "crazies" who disagree with him something a hero does? Is he still a hero? All that being said, being a war hero is not relevant to the debate and Luntz shouldn't have brought it up as if it did.
