2 Good Morning Morons. Yesterday was Wednesday, July 15, 2015. On that day in 2002 the Anti-Terrorism Court of Pakistan handed down the death sentence to British born Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh and life terms to three others suspected of murdering The Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl. 13 years later he still has not been executed.

3 Update on the el Chapo escape: Mexican authorities have released a video of his escape. The so-called privacy barrier along with the mysterious barn built one mile from the prison that was never investigated indicate likely collusion between the prison officials and the drug lord. 5 The mustache sounds off on "The Deal".

The newly announced Iran nuclear deal and the negotiations leading up to it already are fueling an all-but-declared nuclear arms race in the Middle East, according to current and former government officials who say the situation also creates an opening for Russia to exert more influence in the region.

This will not have a good outcome. We got nothing out of this sellout by Obama and the Democrats that was aided and abetted by the RNCe leadership. Here after this shall be known as "The Deal" because Obama and his Party along with all but 1 Republican voted to call it not a treaty.

The dictionary definition of a "treaty":

a formal agreement between two or more states in reference to peace, alliance, commerce, or other international relations.

I guess this is a whispered campaign by Kerry and the mullahs. Its time to hook up some permanent magnet generators to the bones of the founders and get some green energy out of this travesty as they are spinning at 2,000 rpm in their graves.

Why life w/o parole? Why not the death penalty for multiple deaths? Also, why not federal charges for death caused by a weapon of mass destruction, which also carries the death penalty?

12 Why am I not surprised?

Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson faced mounting Capitol Hill pressure Tuesday to force state and local jurisdictions to abide by federal "detainers" on illegal immigrants in their custody, in the aftermath of San Francisco releasing an undocumented Mexican national now charged with murdering a woman along a city pier.

But Johnson resisted, telling the House Judiciary Committee that forcing local authorities to comply with federal requests to detain an illegal immigrant for deportation would be a huge setback.

A huge setback to what? Oh I see, it would be a setback to Obama's refusal to enforce the law which is a violation of his oath of office. But impeachment is still laying on the floor next to the vomit from the statue of the Roman goddess of justice.

13 The VA has finally dropped the lawfare case against the whistleblower who exposed their illegal activities. But nobody involved in this massive criminal enterprise and cover-up has been charged yet, much less gone to jail. I guess some of that vomit will have to be mopped up from the hall of the VA hospital too.

A social worker at a Louisiana Veterans Affairs hospital is no longer under criminal investigation by his employer for accessing a secret list that he used as proof to show that 2,700 vets languished, including 37 who died, awaiting care.

See the ONT for Gabe link to article from Huffpo which says 1/3 of the vets on the waiting list died before they got medical care. And the Democrats want to make the government in charge of all healthcare???? Never before has someone who predicted this kind of shit been so right at the time the MFM excoriated her for unwarranted alarmism. The MFM should all bow down to Sarah Palin and beg her forgiveness. I would say kiss her ass on the courthouse square but why reward them.

35 Good Morning Morons. Today is Thursday, July 16, 2015. On this day in 1790 the District of Columbia was established as the capital of the United States after signature of the Residence Act. Congress passed the Residence Act as part of a compromise brokered between James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, and Alexander Hamilton. Virginia had already paid its revolutionary war debts and Hamilton wanted the new United States under the new Constitution to assume all the other States' debts. VA of course opposed paying debts twice. But to get the capitol located along the Potomac they agreed to the debt bill. In my opinion that was a big mistake for VA. Of course at the time the Potomac site was in the relative center of the country and the States still retained most of the power.

'Outfoxed': Early states seek to preempt Fox News debate

The New Hampshire Union Leader has partnered with major newspapers from Iowa and South Carolina to pre-empt Fox News' televised debate of GOP presidential candidates.

The publishers of the Union Leader, the Charleston (South Carolina) Post and Courier, and Cedar Rapids (Iowa) Gazette, developed the forum because of "the narrow criteria that Fox News will use to limit Republican candidates in its Aug. 6 debate," according to a staff report from the Union Leader.

...

"Fox says only the 'top' 10 candidates, as judged solely by national polling, will be allowed on its stage," the publishers told the Union Leader. "That may be understandable later, but the first votes are half a year away, and there are a lot more than 10 viable candidates. The early primary process gives all candidates a chance to be heard. If networks and national polls are to decide this now, the early state process is in jeopardy, and only big money and big names will compete."

...

The candidates expected to attend the forum three nights before the Fox debate include Carson, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, businesswoman Carly Fiorina, Graham, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, Kasich and former New York Gov. George Pataki, according to the Union Leader.

119 106 why the Senate Republicans (...) helped Obama commit treason re the Iran deal?

A few possibilities-
1. They may all compromised by the NSA. If Obama really wants something, he just has to show them screencaps of their goat porn, and he gets it
2. Bribes, possibly. Membership in the goat-of-the-month club for some. Lots of Chamber of Commerce money for the rest due to the new market being opened. Apparently Shep was reading on Fox a list of things we'll be able to buy now. Follow the money.
3. As the election draws nearer, they're more afraid of being seen as racist by people who won't vote for them anyway than they are of their own base, who they figure will vote for them no matter what.

Trump acts and sounds like an old traditional New York Democrat, that is for sure. Nowhere near the New Democrat Party of today. Old school Democrat. Kinda like Giuliani sounds at times.

I have to add this, too. Trump is probably reeling at the attack on him from Democrats. He always thought he had friends on both sides of the aisle. That is how he plays it. I wonder if that pushes his foot a bit over the conservative line, off the Democrat playing field a bit.

150 Ace had a righteous rant yesterday about the Iran deal, and all the kabuki theater that is to come where the Repubs pretend to fight its final enactment. Yet the actual vote was held a few months ago, with little fanfare, when Congress gave up their advise and consent role.

So ace isn't going to dignify their lies by covering it. The deal is DONE, and no amount of bitching, phoning, protesting, analyzing, or pontificating is going to change one word of the deal.

And all but two R Senators voted for this outcome. Cotton alone voted no, and Cruz missed the vote.

The GOPe is just continuing the trend of delegating its powers and responsibilities to the executive branch and they increasingly do not care to win the issue and simply want something to campaign on.

He just pushed it a bit farther, embracing "radical."

Again, several years ago, I actually believed in America, and participatory democracy, and all that.

Now I don't. So now I find myself agreeing with Chomsky, albeit from a rightward direction. I don't agree with him about who controls the country, or to what political ends; but I do with agree with him that it is controlled.

...

So this is why I have become a radical: I agree with a left-wing socialist/communist about the fundamental rotten lie at the heart of the American democracy.

and, this:

So I am turning off the TV, I am turning off the Bob Corker & Mitch McConnell show, and, frankly, I am cutting the cord on America.

173 Conservatives, I believe, are pretty much astonished by what Obama has able to do to this country - basically what he has been allowed to get away with by congress in general, but also by the Republican congress in particular.

But in all honesty, I think some of the most astonished people have got to be Obama and not only Obama, but people like Bill Ayers, and Valarie Jarrett. Were they still alive, Frank Marshall and Saul Alinsky would be not only astounded, but beaming with pride.

So many on the right are seeing the Iran "deal" as another example of Obama's incompetence. Bullshit.

Look what he has done. He has turned Iran into a global atomic power and has set the table for the muslim world to be dictate by fiat and hegemony what they could only previously dictate by violence and terror.

Lawrence O'Donnell, a raving left wing lunatic who has a show on that network, started ranting about how little Trump made on the Apprentice. He was saying how Trump and the network people were lying and that Trump was one of the lowest paid people on TV.

They cut to commercial and apparently tossed him off the set. When they came back, they were joking about him being off his meds and wondering what was wrong with him.

Apparently, they were embarrassed that he was trying to spin the relatively low salary while not mentioning that Trump owned half the show, so his take came in profits instead of salary.

Forest Service Building Playground with 'Safety Circles,' 'Fall Zones'

The U.S. Forest Service is building a new playground for a national campground in Tennessee with "safety circles" and "fall zones."

The new playground will not have any merry-go-rounds or monkey bars, but will be made of 99.9 percent recycled materials and have an Americans with Disabilities Act "transfer station."

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), which oversees the Forest Service, updated a solicitation for the equipment Wednesday. The playground equipment is for Piney Campground in Dover, Tenn.

"All equipment, including spacing for appropriate standard safety circles and fall zones, shall not exceed the 77' x 77' rectangular site boundary available," according to the scope of work for the project.

"Structure shall include a minimum of the following items: 3 slides, 2 climbers or rock walls, 2 panels, 2 connector/crawl tunnels and 2 bridges, and an ADA transfer station," it said. "Additional site requirements include a minimum of the following items: 4 child swings, 2 individual riders and 2 recycled 6' benches."

274 PP will argue two things. First, it is currently legal to prepare organ specimens for research. What is illegal is to *grow* babies for the purpose of killing and selling off their pieces. So PP will argue that it is merely providing a legal preparation service for research firms. Second, PP will argue that it does not make a profit on the sale of these specimens.

I think both claims are legally questionable. Plus, I'm not sure how they'll get around the first sentence of the statute:

"It shall be unlawful for any person to knowingly acquire, receive, or otherwise transfer any human fetal tissue for valuable consideration if the transfer affects interstate commerce."

Maybe lawyers can comment.

These vandals had such a good time, in fact, that they burnt a record number of cars. French media got excited at initial reports that 130 vehicles had been torched nationwide, a high number but not significant compared to the fact that on average a remarkable 80 are burnt on any normal day, reports Le Figaro.

The real shock came at an Interior Ministry press conference today when revised figures were released, announcing 721 cars in total had been burned, and 603 people were in custody over Bastille day rioting - a 68 per-cent increase on Bastile day last year, reports Valeurs Actuelles.

All that anger comes from the MFM knowing just what a stupid, lame-ass TFG really is.

They actually get to see him unfiltered.

It's the bigotry of low expectations - Progtards figure that since he's Black, Obama can't possibly do better so they angrily defend him.

Of course, the differing prices charged by the reseller (whose website is still conveniently down) indicates that there are premium considerations, which would appear to put the 'delivery fee' dodge to bed.

Respectfully disagree. Despite Snidley Whiplash-types in fiction, evil people generally do not consider themselves evil (and I very much DO consider them evil). The thing is, the Left certainly does not consider itself evil - conscience is only the baggage of Judeo-Christian inculcation that, in time and with practice, can be jettisoned from the mind, resulting in true liberty.

No...their only concern with this video is that internal PP policy is now public knowledge. It comes down to what it always comes down to for the Left: maintaining PR in support of the lies the entire edifice of Leftism is built upon.

This is simply a PR disaster for the Left, not a moral or ethical one.

Exactly. It's much easier to defend self-disseminated misrepresentations of their true beliefs than their true beliefs themselves, because their true beliefs are rationally indefensible. And they know it.

415 Respectfully disagree.

Well... sort of.

Natural Law, or "The Law of Human Nature" does exist. The fact that every society on earth has had roughly equivalent morality (as CS Lewis pointed out in Mere Christianity - the surprise is not how different various cultures' morals are, but how *similar* they are) is pretty good proof of this.

And these people, whatever rationalizations they use to help them sleep at night, know that what they're doing is wrong. They don't like facing that fact.

As long as they can keep it quiet and in the shadows, they don't have to face it, and can continue with whatever rationalizations. Once its out in the open and their rationalizations challenged, those will disappear like a morning fog in the harsh light of day. Then they will be left with nothing but their actions and their consciences - however atrophied and malformed.

There is a lot you can do against Leviathan without even sticking your neck out. Some thoughts in no particular order:

1 Stop buying stuff
2 Do only what the government directly compels you to do.
3 Pay in cash with a winkwink
4 Cheat the government whenever possible
5 Steal all your entertainment
6 If you know of tax cheating, keep your mouth shut
7 If called to jury, refuse to convict
8 Discriminate in all your private dealings, without openly saying so
9 If you see a CoC sticker on a business, go elsewhere
10 Vote against all tax levies, particularly school levies
11 Buy firearms and ammo. It's not simply a just-in-case, it's a good financial investment of small sums when savings are yielding 1/4 of a percent.

Good Citizens are chumps.

* * *

You may well be right, and I don't dispute it. It's possible.

I admit I'm not in the mood to give these people the slightest benefit of doubt but I just find the simpler explanation the most plausible and reflective of the facts: their consciences have been so cauterized that, as exemplified by this woman, they can casually eat lunch while discussing pricing for the sold off livers of murdered children. That is not the sign of someone haunted by even the ghost of a conscience; that's someone utterly bereft of one.

Once you've reached that point, maintaining PR -- controlling what OTHER people think about you -- is your only obstacle. Hence the Left's perennial outrage at their true motives coming to light while the motives themselves go unexamined (as you correctly observed).

But either is possible. Evil is evil, and is so often astoundingly banal.

It was explained to me once that that's why people are still finding newborns in trash cans in states with Safe Haven laws (surrender your newborn at a hospital, police station, or fire station, no questions asked) --when you have to tell someone about it (and then see it on the news), you have to admit to yourself that it happened.

As of July 1, Indiana legalized baby boxes--climate controlled, with an alarm that calls 911 to get someone out to fetch the baby--so maybe that's easier. Until you see it on the news.

(Funny how the "if it saves just one child" anti-gun/anti-food/anti-car/etc bitches sneer at the baby boxes, isn't it?)

She said that among women there are so many subgroups with their own

Just substitute any other group for "women," and you see the future. Finally, an argument for segregation, now and forever, that will sell to the Left.

Like that story here in CO where the 7 mos. pregnant woman had her baby cut out of her stomach by a crazy lady.

All sorts of mental gymnastics to explain how they could be horrified and at the same time, still support late-term abortion. Sadly, current state laws prevented prosecution of the crazy lady for the murder of the baby (thanks to the abortion activists who fought hard to prevent recent legislation that would have allowed it).

Read between the lines: universal pre-K is the government taking over two more years of a child's development from his parents. SO he thinks if the government had *more* control over your kids they wouldn't be as likely to go to jail. Or flip it, parents are more likely to raise criminals than the state?

The double the HS teacher salary is essentially the same message: that linking it to criminals seems to imply of we invested more in teachers they could save kids from dropping out and committing crimes. Again, teachers not parents.

No surprise there, gay men in general are hostile to use of prophylactics and take needless risks. I lost any sympathy for gay AIDS patients about 17 years ago after reading a Rolling Stone article about Gays who wilingly had unprotected sex with HIV-positive men despite the risk for the thrills, and the widespread belief that a HIV cure was due soon.

Yes. It's a prelude to new executive orders in which he will order the release of prisoners who have been convicted of drug and non violent crimes, he and the justice dept will issue new sentencing guidelines that will keep any brother who hasn't killed someone from being incarcerated.
He wants to restore voting rights to any convicted felon once they have served their sentence. Or maybe he'll decide they should still have voting rights to vote for Democrats.
He also wants...get this.. to make it illegal for a potential employer to ask or know about a past felony or misdemeanor conviction. In other words, once you have served your sentence, you do not have to tell anyone your on parole, or you were convicted of a crime and they will end up in jail if they ask you.

An odd thing happened on MSNBC about 20 minutes ago.

Lawrence O'Donnell, a raving left wing lunatic who has a show on
that network, started ranting about how little Trump made on the
Apprentice. He was saying how Trump and the network people were lying
and that Trump was one of the lowest paid people on TV.

They cut to commercial and apparently tossed him off the set. When
they came back, they were joking about him being off his meds and
wondering what was wrong with him.

Apparently, they were embarrassed that he was trying to spin the
relatively low salary while not mentioning that Trump owned half the
show, so his take came in profits instead of salary.

Interesting though that they would toss one of their own anchors off the show.

Posted by: Jen the original at July 16, 2015 11:27 AM (WV80V)

It's the federal government who requires many of those questions about convictions in the first place.

For example, if you want to work in any kind of financial institution, the government requires the (potential) employer to ask if you have any felonies, specifically felonies related to fraud or identity theft.

Not an unreasonable question to ask someone who will presumably be handling peoples financial information, by the way...

And if it's illegal for an employer to ask questions like that, and a convicted (whatever) commits the same crime against a companies customers, is the company still liable for negligently hiring that person?

For example, if a school hires a convicted child rapist as a teacher and the teacher rapes a student, is the district liable at all for not ensuring that the people they hire aren't rapists?

Again, the left likes wedge issues. They do not want sharia law implemented or the middle east blowing up (beyond how it helps them financially and electorally). I don't think anyone would be on board with Obama going all jihad.

I also don't think he's a Muslim. I think like his mom (and really much of the left) he's an atheist'ish spiritualist who uses religion to get what he wants (which is why he joined a black christian church before running for office in a black, christian neighborhood, and hasnt been to church since he got elected president)

718 697 Sanders is running for a cabinet position

He could end up being really f-ing surprised. The coprophagous left really wants him and Liz. When teachers are complaining about Hillary! getting the union support instead of Sanders (and these are mainly leftist woman teachers, right) you know it's not looking good for Scankles.

One wonders if there could be monkey business at the donkey convention to put Hillary on the ticket even of Sanders wins the primary votes. All those superdelegates and other ways of rigging the process. Would be fun to watch.

136 My top are Cruz, Walker, Jindal.

In fact, prediction time: if the candidate isn't Bush or Rubio, the GOPe will throw the election via lack of support.
---------------
Cruz is a good guy who does his best to walk the talk. He has national recognition, says the right things, and he could do well since he was one of 2 GOP senators who didn't shame themselves over the Iran betrayal. Cruz's main problem is he knows math, and half the USA does not.

Walker does need to widen his scope more, but he is a true conservative, he gets things done, and the Left fears him. If he becomes a serious contender the Left will hurl themselves against him like the uruk-hai at Helm's deep.

Jindal is not a serious contender, this is a trial run, and a chance to get face time at the convention.

If the GOP plays "political strategery" on this election, they deserve to follow the fate of their predecessors, the Whigs. Obummer has already guaranteed the next 20 years will be bad, another America-hating Marxist will make the 21st century a rival to the 20th in terms of human misery.

723 "Again, the left likes wedge issues. They do not want sharia law implemented or the middle east blowing up (beyond how it helps them financially and electorally). I don't think anyone would be on board with Obama going all jihad."
--------------------------------------------------------------
Don't forget the Golden Rule. Those with the Gold make the rules in this present world.

Obama could be a pawn used to empower Jihad and give Iran the bomb. Might be all there is concerning his use.
Then again what is his most favorite thing to do that he has demonstrated. "Hurt America" We are not dead yet, so his being able to get more lashes in would motivating.

The last Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigate deployment ended on
Sunday when USS Kauffman (FFG-59) returned to Naval Station Norfolk, Va.
following six months in U.S. Southern Command.

Kauffmans return
marks the operational end of the Perrys which after more than 30-years
of operations are set to be replaced by the emerging two-classes of the
Littoral Combat Ship and the services planned upgunned frigate design.

Quiet history is made. Good job to the Perrys that held the line with much service and little honor.

We did, troll, see the history of the bombing campaign over Japan.

Talking to a LIV yesterday. She didn't think it was a big deal that
Iran could get the bomb. After all, we nuked Japan, so apparently every
nation on the planet should be able to nuke each other. I mentioned the
Bataan Death march and the other atrocities committed by Japan, but she
didn't believe it happened to Americans, so we were in the wrong.

I was stunned at the pure stupidity.
-----------
She probably is a Howard Zinn reader. Dad got that utter crapfest Blame-America-First screed masquerading as history. According to Zinn we were all racists in 1941 because Jim Crow so WW II against Japan = racist wrong war. Apparently Japan's bigoted view of the USA which led their fascist junta to believe the USA could be brought to terms inside of 6 months didn't count. He doesn't mention that book much when I am there.

731 Vic,

Why life w/o parole? Why not the death penalty for multiple deaths? Also, why not federal charges for death caused by a weapon of mass destruction, which also carries the death penalty?

I'm generally not in favor of the death penalty for religious reasons but I do carve out some exceptions, like terrorism, which I consider to be an act of war. I admit that my list of exceptions isn't especially well thought-out, mainly because the death penalty is so rare in the United States.

On the list of things that I care deeply about when voting, being against the death penalty comes in around 973rd, maybe lower.

One of the things that I don't like about the death penalty are the endless appeals. At my age (a young and tender 55), if I were sentenced to death, I would likely die of old age before the sentence was carried out.
