So I'm taking advantage of a momentary connection to throw up a quickie ONT. Trump: My Fortune is Too Yuge To be Accurately Captured by the Puny FEC Forms Like a medieval monk preserving Western culture through the Dark Ages, Thomas soldiered doggedly on, carrying the largest writing workload on the Court, pressing his point in cases small and large, sometimes at odds with his conservative colleagues, often alone. I was saving this for a later thread but it looks like there will be no later thread. This is a video of a symposium on Ayn Rand and the Hwd Blacklist. The panel eviscerates the commies. This link was originally posted by the nephew of Herbert Biberman, one of the Hwd 10, who states outright his uncle was a traitor.
On the video there is an old guy, who doesnt give his name but says he was blacklisted. I recognized who he was: Robert Lees. He was a real shit to Eli Kazan a few years earlier. Unfortunately for Mr. Lees, about 2 years after this video, a man broke into his house and cut off his head and took it with him. http://goo.gl/7txnz9 Posted by: Bruce With a Wang! at July 15, 2015 10:39 PM (iQIUe) 22

RICO
The federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act passed to allow prosecution of and civil penalties for organizations where management is aware of and actively involved in operating a criminal organization. That would be an organization engage in criminal activity that is abetted by its the management, even when that management is not directly committing those crimes themselves. It's time that Planned Parenthood face the attention of RICO prosecution standards and anyone in that organization, whether they are a senior manager or just the janitor will find themselves prosecutable for their participation in such an organization. 1.How is "Friendzoning" a problem for feminists? It's women asserting power over men(well, White Knights and SJW fanboys, at least), they should love it. 2.With every single gender norm challenged and the conversation moving to Vampire equality, how did default child support and custody practices escape untouched? Summarizing today's New Horizons Pluto news: Probably the biggest WTF moment in planetary science since Mariner 6 and 7 flew by Mars in the 60s. The smooth plains and lack of cratering indicate that the dynamically stable Pluto-Charon system at the frigid edge of the Solar System somehow has a heat driven active geology. They're similar to the Moons of the Jupiter system, but without the orbital interaction between those moons to drive their internal heat pumps. The current speculation is -- dunno. A pretty unlikely excess of radioactive elements to create heat from their decay or orbital interaction with undiscovered bodies*. Of course, the real answer is -- Berserker Probe firing range. *Nemesis! The Dark Deliverer approaches to cleanse all! Posted by: Laurie David's Cervix at July 15, 2015 11:00 PM (kdS6q) 114

One observation about Trump that has gone completely unnoticed. Do you realize the genius of what he's done re neutering the opposition/protesters on immigration? Everytime those "protesters" show up, Trump is like, fuck them, they were probably sent by the Mexican government. In one fell swoop, he has completely delegitimized the protests against him. It's fucking amazing. Look, I'm skeptical of Trump and wonder what's going on. I'm not blind to his prior positions. But wholly fucking shit, the guy has become a wreaking ball and blown the whole thing up. Cruz is meeting with him and I kid you not, if Trump beats the squishes and has Cruz on his side, he wins this thing walking away. Posted by: ManWithNoParty, unperson from Free Market Jesus Paradise at July 15, 2015 10:41 PM (1eYr7) Has anyone ever done a study comparing the emotional stability/mental health of psychologists or psychiatrists with that of the general public? I once dated a guy whose parents had a family friend who was a psychologist. The shrink's wife gut shot him. Then there is the psychiatrist I knew whose kid was completely screwed up. He refused to allow the school to get him evaluated. Then there's the psychologist cousin of mine who moved across the state so he wouldn't have to have anything to do with his manic depressive brother. Then there was the shrink in my area who got into trouble because he was screwing young women who were getting counseling from him because they'd been victims of sex abuse, and he was doing some nefarious shit on the side with redistributing drugs. Sorry, Sara Goldf**k, but Gramps being a shrink, doesn't make him qualified to shoot off his mouth about Walker's character. As a matter of fact, if he were a competent shrink, he'd know that his issuing statements comparing Walker to a whacko like Hitler is unethical. One more thing fellow horde members.
The way the GOPe has stacked the deck, Cruz CANNOT win. Walker CANNOT win. We must realize this and act accordingly. Trump literally is the only option we have left. As a former Rubio supporter, Rubio and fucking Jeb Bush are THE SAME FUCKING TICKET. Rubio is a FAKE CANDIDATE. He is meant to split conservative votes and then hand the crown to Jeb fucking Bush. It pains me to admit my, and Ace's, error, but it is what it is. Once the horde recognizes this, there is no other option but to go full Trump and hope that his candidacy is not bullshit. He's filed his FEC paperwork, he leads the polls, he can do this with the right guidance. Hopefully he and Cruz are teaming up shortly. Posted by: prescient11 at July 15, 2015 11:19 PM (Au7Z/) 215

#308: I, for one, do not expect Trump to win the GOP nomination.
The whole primary process is controlled by the same party establishment a lot of us rail against every day. They consider normal everyday conservative Americans more of a threat than the Democrats. I want Trump to run third-party after the Repugs inevitably anoint Jeb. If Jeb comes in third in a three-way race, it'll mean a whole lot more, politically speaking, than Jeb coming in second in a two-way race. You know, I thought it was just me getting overwrought but I'm seeing a lot of veiled calls to violence on other conservative threads and even on mainstream sites. People rightly believe that we have become Argentina during the Menem Presidency; Representatives of both parties and the courts have become completely divorced from those they represent and treat the Country and the People with contempt. Thought that maybe my foot had slipped between the gas pedal and the brake pedal and so I really hadn't been pushing. Dropped the hubby off & started to go to class and about 1/4 mile later, happened again. Pushing the brake pedal & it won't depress. Approaching a stop light. At a really busy intersection. Did the car no favors but managed to shift it into park. After that, nursed it home at 15 mph & used the hand brake and put it in neutral at lights. 1st world problems. Many people don't have cars. My experiences with psychologists over the years have been almost exclusively bad.
My major problem with psychology (and therefore psychologists) is that is a constant attempt to put people on boxes. And the curriculum is just about as rigorous as education. And rather than admitting that people are all individuals, they just keep adding more boxes. Childhood sexual abuse is a good example. Psychiatrists at least have been through med school, internship, residency, and there is little chance that a complete idiot can make it through this kind of regimen. But they usually started out as psych majors. Posted by: bergerbilder at July 16, 2015 12:18 AM (+jijM) 476

I was interested in the cultural links between the Hittites and the Minoans. The Hittites appear to have been the end of a land-route for Tin from Afganistan area to the Mediterranean, and the Minoans appear to have been the sea leg of that to the rest of the Med - the land route to Egypt was down through the Caananite cities and they were quite rich from the trade as well, but was controlled in a large part by the Egyptians.
Along with some genetic linking, some elements unique to the both like the double bitted axe, the Labrys, and interesting things like the Phaistos disc that has some similarities to Hittite cuneiform and Hittite seals there almost seems to be enough linking to make an actual link. Anyhow, I don't have a brain the size of a planet so all I do is go wow, draw imaginary links, and shout Squirrel from time to time. Posted by: Kindltot at July 16, 2015 12:35 AM (3pRHP) 505

Little appreciated fun fact: Dan White was a Democrat. I lived in the Bay Area when all this happened, and, being young and silly, I never realized that. #511: I assume Jeb will be the GOP nominee, because our opposition in the primaries are the people who make the rules and they have the money to support unserious candidates like Rubio in order to enhance the anointed one's chances.
It's my hope that Trump goes third-party after realizing he can't win against that stacked deck, and Jeb ends up coming in third in the general as a result. Until the GOP experiences a humiliation like that, nothing in the electoral process will change. Posted by: Prothonotary Warbler- Trump/Fiorina (I) 2016! at July 16, 2015 12:48 AM (wKc1L) 525

#540: Yeah, I was guilty of desperation in my earlier years, and it's exactly as you describe it.
Eventually, I got over it... and in some ways maybe went a little too far in the other direction... and I've actually had quite a few women throw themselves at me since then. Sometimes I've picked up on it right away, but wasn't interested in that particular girl, and sometimes I've only picked up on it long after the opportunity had passed and ended up kicking myself over it. I hit on women around here sometimes, and I might come across as a little desperate while I'm at it, but I generally don't mean it. I'm just having a little fun, really, and I know a lot of the ladies around here are married, anyway. I also figure a little practice now and then can't hurt. Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou (AKA Everyday life with Monster Girls): Guy forced to be a homestay host for a lamia. According to the intro, they will be joined by a harpy girl, a centaur girl, a slime girl, a mermaid, and a spider girl. All of whom want to f**k his brains out... despite the fact that (at this point in the story), he isn't allowed to. Inter-species police include a zombie girl, a giant ogre girl, a cyclops girl, and a doppelganger girl. What do you actually like in terms of fiction? The range of stuff is pretty wide.
Posted by: Epobirs at July 16, 2015 04:09 AM --------- Hmm. It's been awhile - long enough that I'd need to chew on that a bit. It's been non-fiction - politics, biographies and pop physics (as one of my favorite The Great Courses is titled: Particle Physics for Non-Scientists[i/]) - the last ~10 years. Tim,
I ran specialty, high-end retail stores for 20+ years, but the last eight or so, I've been flipping houses. If real estate ever turns around, and I ever make a move, I'll probably be chasing the dream & heading for TX. I hear there are hawt 'ettes & freedom down there! I'm a little old for a career change, but I'm exploring options. If I have to, I'll go back to sales, but that shit sucks your soul. I lasted so long only because I'm a jaded misanthrope. And bourbon. Bourbon helped a lot. Posted by: Chi at July 16, 2015 04:22 AM (tazEq) 696

In discussions regarding my donation, I was informed that substantially all of BYTE was already archived. Please let me know if there are any critical issues/volumes of BYTE.

Does someone have to periodically remind her to eat or drink? _______________________ I wonder if Gramps also went over with her all the ways in which Hitler and Obama are similar -- such as cultivating the cult of personality around the leader, the use of symbols (Nazi swastika and Obama "O"), the strategy of focusing on young people ("Hitler Youth") and then using them to convince older and smarter people to join up, the Nazi brownshirts and Obama's dreamed-of "civilian" army, controlling the media and using faux-drama (e.g., Obama campaign's "fainters," O-Care "doctors" in white coats, etc.) and propaganda to brainwash the masses with their message, destroying the rule of law, using courts and government agencies to attack and intimidate and punish political enemies, and so many more . . . .
