Morning Thread (7-14-2015)

So we get sold down the river today, eh?

1 Good Morning Morons. Today is Tuesday, July 14, 2015. On this day in 1881 Billy the Kid was shot and killed by Pat Garrett outside Fort Sumner. Most historians who have researched Billy the Kid and the Lincoln County War agree that the Kid got a raw deal from the corrupt authorities in the area. However he did go on a crime spree after the "Lincoln County War" was over. This story line is pretty much how he was played in John Wayne's movie Chisum. The other story is that Pat Garret essentially bushwhacked him in that house outside Fort Sumner.

8 Do the Morons remember the initial plot of "Dies the Fire" by S. M. Stirling where the plane crashes in the wilderness and the pilot and a family have to trek out of the wilderness? Well, fiction is now imitated by fact. A teenage girl who survived a plane crash in Washington State in the wilderness hiked out of the wilderness over several days to be picked up by a motorist who drove 30 miles to the nearest town.

9 The WH rightly takes heat for killing the Secure Communities program which would have tracked and arrested that illegal who wound up in SF and killed that woman. The WH has never been interested in getting rid of criminal illegals and the Democrat leaders in the major urban areas that vote Democrat exclusively, even when dead, were against it.

10 WHINOS in the VA administration say that have a $2.5M budget shortfall and if congress doesn't address it they will have to close some hospitals. Doesn't this sound awful familiar like mayors of cities infested with socialism complain that they don't have enough money and will have to lay off cops and firefighters?

Also recall the stories we have seen here where the VA has wasted billions of dollars in proliferate spending on luxury items and construction. In addition nobody has gone to jail yet for all that fraud and abuse that occurred in these same VA hospitals.

11 Scankles' economic program is the same program socialist Democrats have pushed forever. Raise taxes and punish Wall Street and rich people. She has been pushed to the left by the commie Sanders insurgency in the Democrat Party. She wants to raise taxes on large corporations with the US having one of the highest corporate tax rate in the world already. She wants the US permanently bound in the Obama depression.

We need a new story today, to trump this junk deal with Iran.

It will be on the crap media 24/7.

Oil prices will drop (of course!) as they always do pre-elections.

13 The Obamanites say we have a done deal in the sellout to Iran with another formal meeting today. If it is a done deal why do they need another meeting today? Since Republicans have sold out on this "deal" already there is no chance of blocking it no matter how bad it is.

14 Barber Food has joined Blue Bell ice cream in a major recall for salmonella contamination. Our paper FDA is hard on the job. One of my biggest complaints of federal regulation is that almost all the time all it does is require reams of paper to show you are in compliance with violations being paper violations. Very little actual inspection occurs. Of course if challenged they will say they need more money. I say lay off the paper inspectors, get rid of the paper requirements, and hire more field inspectors. But that will not happen.

The MFM called it a chokehold, video evidence shows that it wasn't and most likely died due to morbid obesity and poor health. But commies don't mind spending your money on this kind of crap. Next he will ask the feds for more gas tax money for NYC mass transit to make up for it.

These articles keep saying "civil asset forfeiture" laws. The actual laws say that you must be convicted first. Some are loosely worded saying "suspicion of use in a crime" and that is what the cops are hanging their hats on. The Supreme court has made ONE ruling on this and it was AFTER a conviction. The law can NOT take property from people without due process. I just wish that some rich puke would take one of these cases to the Supremes but what happens is that as soon as they are taken to court the law dogs fold because they know they will lose. In this case the authorities refused to answer questions on their use of civil asset forfeiture.

37 Imagine if Bakken Shale producers, somewhat resilient to lower oil prices anyway, really didn't care what you paid them. That is the scary prospect for oil bulls waking up to a deal over Iran's nuclear program.

The full scope of a deal isn't yet clear and it will likely face stiff opposition that could yet cause it to fail.

But assuming it holds, much of the debate over what impact the lifting of sanctions on Iran would have on oil prices centers on quantity: How many extra barrels could the country sell into the world market and how quickly? The International Energy Agency thinks Iran could raise production by between 600,000 and 800,000 barrels a day within months of sanctions being lifted.

Iran's crude oil exports have declined by roughly 1.1 million barrels a day since tough sanctions were imposed in 2012---roughly the same as North Dakota's output. But there is a key difference.

51 Tuesday's deal between the West and Iran, should it hold up, paves the way for new foreign investment in the country's oil fields and reopens its big, young and relatively well-off consumer market to U.S. and European companies. The doors don't open right away, but the deal could be a game changer for a number of key industries.

Energy

Tehran eventually will seek foreign help to get its aging fields pumping efficiently again. European energy producers such as Eni and Total worked in Iran before sanctions and say they're eager to return. Exxon Mobil also has a provisional green light to proceed.

Aviation

Last month in Paris, Iran's transport minister said the country's aviation industry was in the market to replace as many as 400 jets over the next 10 years, at a cost of at least $20 billion.

Consumer Goods

The deal eventually unlocks more than $100 billion of Iranian cash that has been locked in foreign bank accounts, boosting the government's buying power. Some companies, like Apple, will get their first crack at the market.

Autos

Renault and Peugeot have restarted talks with Iranian partners. But Iran loved American cars before the 1979 revolution, and U.S. auto makers could find a welcome market.

Let's turn this whole racism thing back on the Left. Do you have a drop of Irish in you? Well, if not, do you have any pictures of yourself wearing green and celebrating St. Patrick's Day? Good enough.
Have you ever been called a redneck? If yes, you too are a victim of racism! The word redneck as a derivative of the original word, Redlegs, given to Irish people enslaved by Cromwell and deported to Barbados. Due to their very pale complexions, they burnt readily in the sun.
Let's sue Hollywood. They love that word.

Texas shouldn't have to even worry about nullification. Since Texas joined the USA as a nation, and by treaty, that treaty is only valid as long as there is a recognizable United States government to be bound to. One could certainly argue that, since said government does not follow its own laws, due process, or Constitution, that it is not recognizable as such. A treaty with an entity that no longer exists is a historical artifact and nothing more.

The NYPD, in going after 'loosies', was following the bidding of politicians in City Hall to stop the loss of tax revenue, just like the cops in Baltimore were following the orders of their mayor and city attorney. When they did do the job those people wanted, and shit happened, they turned on the cops quicker than Owebama going down at a glory hole.

The cops were right, in both cases, to make an arrest. In the NYC case, the thug resisted arrest and died. Too bad, so sad. In Baltimore, we still don't know what killed Gray, but he also resisted arrest. Again, too bad, so sad.

Natural gas is more valuable as a commodity to export. Why waste it on domestic electricity production when you can make tens of billions of dollars selling it to the Europeans or Indians rather than selling it at subsidized prices to citizens? But you're right about the inefficiency aspect of collecting natural gas and Iran could probably get substantial benefits from those wasted resources but I highly doubt their infrastructure is even close to handling that, considering their population centers are generally surrounded by mountains all over the western half of the country.

269 This agreement is good for the United States, good for our allies, and good for the safety of the entire world. It reduces the danger of the threat of nuclear spreading in the region. It's a crucial step toward drawing North Korea into the global community.

Today, after 16 months of intense and difficult negotiations with North Korea, we have completed an agreement that will make the United States, the Korean Peninsula, and the world safer. Under the agreement, North Korea has agreed to freeze its existing nuclear program and to accept international inspection of all existing facilities.

This agreement represents the first step on the road to a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula. It does not rely on trust. Compliance will be certified by the International Atomic Energy Agency. The United States and North Korea have also agreed to ease trade restrictions and to move toward establishing liaison offices in each other's capitals. These offices will ease North Korea's isolation.

Substitute Iran of North Korea and well what can I say, we all know how that one turned out. It's almost word for word what Fredo just said.

Those who fail to learn from History are doomed to repeat it. And drag us all along with them into the pits of hell.

But anyway, consumer spending is the fuel that feeds the fires of the economy. It is practically non-existent - down .3% vs up .2% expected - and that's what's reported. 286 However, individual troops may set their on policy. How long do you think that will last after the Gaystapo begins legal action?

That blog I don't have can't even get any love from Vic.

Answer to the question: about 10 minutes.

What BSA apparently never considered was this: it takes a lot of money (unless you're a lawyer yourself) to sue someone. Various homosexuals have sued the Boy Scouts all the way up to the Supreme Court over the years, and lost because BSA was a private organization with the right to set its own membership/leadership requirements.

How did those people afford such lawsuits? Most of them were not, themselves, lawyers. Most of them were (or were at least portrayed as) fairly "common" (except for the homosexual part) middle-to-upper-middle-class families. Since I doubt they had their own legal funds, that means they were backed by someone or someones.

Now, those same backers still exist, and will find others to bring suit against local packs/troops and/or their charter organizations. While the BSA had funds to defend itself against such lawfare, the individual organizations do not. Further, the defense before was that BSA is a private organization, private organizations get to set their own policies, and BSA's policy was that it did not allow gay leadership.

NOW, however, that last part no longer holds. Yes, BSA will still be a private organization. Yes, private organizations still get to set their own policies. But the BSA policy no longer prohibits homosexual leadership - so the local orgs won't have that defense.

The Scouting Year begins in August (when school does). We're gearing up for recruitment now, and we'll start holding recruitment rallies (where we try to get boys to sign up AND get their parents to volunteer) at the end of July and beginning of August.

I suspect the first lawsuit will fly by mid-August.

Unless you think you'll be arriving with tired kids at the height of evening rush hour and don't want to deal with figuring out how to buy a card, you can just wait and get the farecards when you're here. If you go with the Short Pass, however, you should get them in advance. I'm not sure if the Short Pass option can be purchased at all of the stations. If you're not doing the Short Pass, just get the paper farecards.

So now what do I do? Do I continue in my position and try to be an example to these boys - knowing that I'm supporting an organization which is now opposed to my beliefs? Do I pull us both out of Scouts - leaving the rest of the boys and their families to the fates?

346 Over 8000 criminal aliens released - not just criminal because they violated the law coming in, but they committed other crimes - in eight months.
______________________

They've released far more than just 8000. A few weeks ago there was an article in several MSM sites about how, in one year alone, the Obama administration had released into the U.S. more than 30,000 illegal aliens who had convictions for criminal offenses in the U.S. -- and several thousand of those were for violent crimes like rape and murder.

There are quite a few countries that will refuse to accept back their own citizens if they've been convicted of violent crimes in the U.S. The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that the federal government can't keep illegal alien convicts in custody indefinitely after they've been released from prison, so these foreign criminals have to be either deported, or set free in the U.S.

There are federal laws on the books that say that if a country refuses to take back a deportee (and obviously, many countries want to do that, because why do they want to be saddled with some useless, and often violent, career criminal, even if he is a citizen of their country?), then the U.S. can retaliate by taking steps such as suspending the issuance of visas to that country. However, the Obama administration refuses to use those sanctions, and when a country refuses to take back one of its criminal deportees, the Obama administration just shrugs and releases that foreign criminal back into the U.S., to prey on U.S. citizens.

He's guaranteed that there will be new alliances forming in the region because we've proven to be an unreliable partner and years of alliance building are now in the toilet.

And rather than preventing conflict he's guaranteed that it will happen with a newly armed and wealthy Iranian enemy.

And the left is blindly cheering this shit on because they don't do reality anymore, just the reality they create in their empty heads. Terrific.

Well, this is where things get really weird.

Our current charter org is a mission outreach program sponsored by the Presbyterian church. As far as their "beliefs" from what I can tell, they might actually be more at home with the Unitarians.

However, due to that whole "not standing for anything" they don't have very good attendance, and the Presbyterians thought they would be self-sustaining by now. They're not. So the church *might* be closing down the program. They're almost certainly selling the land its on, which would make them unable to continue as our charter org.

In *that* event, the church I attend has said they would more than likely offer to charter us. I'm a raging liberal compared to many at my church, so if they chartered us there would be no question of allowing homosexual leadership.

But that brings us right back to the "getting sued" problem - I certainly don't want my congregation sued.

There are other packs in the area, and surely one or more of them will disallow homosexual leadership, but it's a hard decision to make.
