Happy anniversary and G-d bless the memory of "The Few" who saved England and the world from a new dark age.

Sadly, it seems it was only a temporary reprieve as England and the rest of civilization is headed directly towards that fate.

Still, the Battle of Britain was one for the ages.

16 I'm watching the video of Trump's press conference. Very sad and unbelievable that our elected officials are more interested in pandering to the illegals than to protecting American citizens.

About 25 years ago I had a friend whose parents were killed by an uninsured drunk driver in New Mexico. It didn't occur to me at the time, but I strongly suspect now that the reason the driver was uninsured was because he was an illegal alien.

It's maddening that we can't even get accurate statistics on the number of crimes committed by illegal aliens and legal immigrants. Child rape is terrible, unless you're an illegal alien in which case it's part of your culture and we have to be tolerant. Sickening.

Time to smash Piggy's glasses:

Davis CA Joint Unified School District trustees last month shook up the gifted program out of concern that elite classrooms were detrimental to lower-scoring students who didnt qualify.

The board voted to develop a plan for teachers whose classrooms include students of all skill levels. School Board President Alan Fernandes said Friday that the decision to change the program despite support from many parents who view it as successful was a matter of equal opportunity.

Research conducted by the University of California, Davis, "showed that the effects of children leaving the mainstream classroom for the Gifted program has a disproportionately negative impact on Latino children and on the ability of the district to close the achievement gap," Fernandes said.

One of the so-called reporters asked Trump if he wanted to apologize for anything he'd said. Also in the Land of Bliss:

Los Angeles and Orange County overnight saw the largest one-day price hike in months. Earlier Friday in Sherman Oaks, regular gasoline went from $3.99 to $4.59 per gallon within minutes. Experts say prices are expected to rise steeply because of low inventory.

In Los Angeles, the average current price is $3.77 per gallon, going up 27 cents in two days. The average in L.A. is expected to surpass $4 per gallon by next week.

Some analysts say imports are starting to pick back up, and expect prices to fall in about three weeks.

What College Majors Are Most Likely to Marry Each Other?

We analyzed US Census data and found that Americans marry people within their own major at an unusually high rate. Looking at the 50 most common college majors, over 10% of married partners that both have college degrees had the same major. This number is as high as 21% for certain majors.

The data also shows that when it comes to love, people who are in an extreme gender minority in their field of study -- like male nurses and female engineers -- are the most likely to marry somebody in their major.

My guess is that for the sub set of people whom this would work for, they are traveling from their residence which has a source of water, to spend the day at the beach, and wish to rinse off prior to the trip home.

For the homeless, and those who's residential source of water has dried up, in search of a free shower....not so much.

At this stage, and at this moment, he is saying the brutal ugly truth about what the illegal alien invasion is doing to the country. He has singlehandedly moved the debate from him personally to the issue itself.

Whatever the man did in the past (I consider a billionaire donating to the party in power as self-defense), and believe me his personality has always turned me off, is irrelevant at this moment. In fact, all the other candidates are falling all over themselves to embrace the leftist narrative and pander to the La Raza crowd. The notable exception is Ted Cruz.

What makes you think Trump's love of country is sudden? He sure piles money into the tax department like he loves the country. He hasn't gotten rich in the course of "Public Service" like Jeb, Harry, Hillary, Barry, Bill, et al. He's also done more good for the country with one sentence than any of them have in their entire lives. That's not even considering all of the good Trump's done by building things and paying people.

I've found FedGov's habit of using, the threat of withdrawing funds to force states to change policy repugnant, since it's a tool used, afaik, exclusively by the left to enforce leftist policies on the states.

Is there any evidence, at all, that anybody in FedGov would actually like to withhold funds from sanctuary cities/states? Surely neither Obama, nor DHS, nor Congress have any intention whatsoever of doing so. Anything going on now is just kabuki handwringing for the rubes.

Of course not.
Unless a city declares itself to be a Sanctuary City for those with religious beliefs.

Then it becomes balls to the wall withholding of Federal funds.

The idea is to generate discussion, and dis-satisfaction amongst the voting public with the concept of Sanctuary Cities, harboring of violent criminals who prey on innocent children and women, and the liberal mind set which fosters and encourages these actions.

Sort of like the public awareness that in one State, your 15 year old son can not take a common over the counter medication without parental consent, but..

189 Morning, Glories.

I'm depressed and angry over my cousin's dying last night, untimely, as I see it. although she was "elderly" and her health was failing for months.

Theologically, God cannot be wrong, so I can't cuss at him about it, but I'm... let's just say I'm not a very contented son this morning.

Whatever the purposes of prayer, getting a "yes" answer is apparently low on the list.

Checked in with my grief to the ONT, while the nightwalker crowd was in full Friday-night force, and apparently just before everyone went to bed. I received much comforting support & commiseration. I'll thank God for that, then.

Oh, the other candidates will give a shit about illegal invaders now, alright, right through election night. Then they'll pull a Boehner/McConnell move. Boehner was given the House in a mandate back in 2010 to stop Owebama's spending. Then the RINOs were handed the Senate in 2014 to roll back Owebama's agenda in another historic trouncing. What did we get for all that? Boehner and McConnell giving blowjobs to President Boyfriend.

224 Muldoon, Hoover lost to FDR on both not doing enough to stem the depression, and by doing too much.
Hoover later mentioned that he was the only President to have a depression named after him, and is not reviled for opening the door for interventionism for FDR by his actions.

Hoover was a complex and interesting man. He may have been a disaster but he worked from his compassion.
He grew up in Newberg and Salem Oregon, and among other things went to Stanford with my step-mom's grandfather. He also was the senior civilian at Tientsien during the Boxer Rebellion, where he had been employed as a mining engineer, with his wife Lou. (Lou would ride the boundries with her rifle, by the way).
They also translated Agricola's De Re Metalica, a classical text on mining.

If he had used a broadsword and wore leather he could have been a Edgar Rice Burroughs or Robert Howard hero.

Here is a speech about economic recovery from 1932

it begins:

"But before I begin the major discussion of the evening, I wish to take a moment of your time to revert to those methods and policies for protection and recovery from this depression in the light of certain recent misstatements of the Democratic candidate in respect to them. "

and ends:

'My countrymen, I repeat to you, the fundamental issue of this campaign, the decision that will fix the national direction for a hundred years to come, is whether we shall go on in fidelity to American traditions or whether we shall turn to innovations, the spirit of which is disclosed to us by many sinister revelations and veiled promises.

My friends, I wish to make my position clear. I propose to go on in the faith and loyalty to the traditions of our race. I propose to build upon the foundations which our fathers have laid over this last 150 years."

I can pretty much guarantee this would have happened, but don't blame Calvin. His son died of a tennis wound* while he was in office and it took the heart out of him. If I could do one thing to change history, going back to 1924 with a bottle of penicillin and giving it to Cal Jr would be very, very high on the list, in fact, it would be the #1 thing that wasn't killing someone evil(like Hitler).

I don't have the source here on the traveling computer, but I just this week received a pair of gold-platey HDMI-female-to-DVI-male adapters for about $6, via Amazon.

Alas, I was not realizing that my 1366x768 maximum resolution would not expand-to-fill the DVI screen on my 1920x monitor the way my 1280x analog desktop video output does. That is to say I got, digital clarity but letterboxed on four sides. If there's a setting I'm missing on computer or monitor, I can't find it. (But I only spent $6.)
