It's like the speed of light. We're pouring ever more and more thrust on, but we can't seem to quite hit it, and just keep getting closer and closer. Eventually the equipment or physics will yield to the inevitable. My money is on equipment failure. The Gods of the Copybook Headings are an immovable object, and the notions of mankind are remarkably fragile despite their switftness.

This process is happening without our input. The fires and stone scatterings will be provided by the ignorant, angry mobs demanding the loot they think is rightfully theirs. The salt will be provided by the tears of the utopians as they are driven before the braying mobs they created.
There will also be laughter. Chaos mocks those who think they can control it to serve their ends.

Perhaps I'm too much a fan of various sci-fi ideas, but I always had the idea of creating a city atop a seamount that's within diving distance of the surface, but far from any nation's borders. A few towers could be built as docking terminals that connect to the surface. The rest of the city? Underwater! There's quite a few seamounts in the Pacific that would work for the purpose, if I'm not mistaken.

61 So yesterday afternoon we had severe thunderstorms move through my area. The storms hit where I live around 5. and about 15 minutes later I lost power (which is unusual in my neighborhood). Anyhow, storms were pretty fierce. At one point I could barely see outside my back glass door.

Lot of thunder and lightning, and the sirens kept going off as possible tornadoes were seen on radar. Then something odd happened. The rain had kind of let up and I decided to step out my front door to see if there was any flooding below me. As I started to go out the door onto my porch...

BAMBAMBAMBAM!

It sounded like someone firing a cannon right over my head. I didn't see any light flashes but that's maybe because I ducked. Of course I stepped right back into my place, but I've never heard anything like that before. Once in a while I've heard thunder that sounded like a cannon, but never something like that. And it was as quick as what I typed. Like 4 explosions right above me. Very, very loud.

So that was interesting to say the least

I don't know what he's said before, but in his recent San Francisco interview he was all over the place. He said that man-to-man and woman-to-woman sex is considered "sexual misconduct" in Buddhism, but that he has to distinguish between Buddhists and non-Buddhists.

He also said that homosexuality can serve a good social purpose, and that he supports gay marriage. He also admitted that Buddhist scriptures advise against homosexual activity, but then he said that those scriptures may need to be re-examined in a modern social context -- but he said he can't do "reinterpret" the scriptures on his own, because he doesn't have the authority to unilaterally change Buddhist scriptures.

IOW, he sounded like a typical liberal. Ignore what it says in your religion's scriptures if you don't agree with it or it inconveniences you. Hey, if you don't like what the scriptures say, then just change your "interpretation" of them until they say something completely different!

He's like Obama "interpreting" the law -- just pretend that the words in the law have different meanings than what they say, and then you can claim that you're in full compliance!

83 A Fox Butterfield moment indeed:

Rasmussen's new survey found that now a third (33%) of likely U.S. voters support the rights of states to ignore federal court rulings, a 9-point increase from February. The number opposing states' rights to override the federal courts fell by six points to 52 percent, while 15 percent remain undecided.

Rasmussen declares that what is "even more disturbing" about the findings is that those who support the states are Republicans and conservatives, those who "traditionally have been the most supportive of the Constitution and the separation of powers."

Then it depends on if you're willing to risk a delay while you go back through security. I've never had to wait more than about 15 or 20 minutes at DFW, but I've also never flown out of DFW in the middle of the day.

Like I said, I wouldn't go out of my way to eat at any of the restaurants at the terminal (none of them are bad, to my knowledge, just no better than average, really). But if you've got a couple hours and you're at DFW, there are tons of restaurants in the surrounding area. I work about 7 minutes away from the airport. Depending on when you're getting in, one of the DFW Morons might even be able to take you somewhere. If not, there's shuttle service to the South Remote parking which will get you within walking distance of the Whataburger at the south end of the airport.

If you want to stay in the terminal, though, I think there's mostly just national chains and maybe an independent bar/grill or two.

The dalai lama is telling people that if Buddhist scriptures tell them their behavior is wrong (as is the case with homosexual activity), they are free to "reinterpret" the scriptures to make them more to their liking.

So he is essentially saying that the Buddhist scriptures are meaningless. If you can interpret the scriptures to mean whatever you want/need them to mean at any given moment in time, then they mean nothing at all.

141 Rasmussen declares that what is "even more disturbing" about the findings is that those who support the states are Republicans and conservatives, those who "traditionally have been the most supportive of the Constitution and the separation of powers."

What Rasmussen is missing is that Rule of Law in this country has been undermined for political purposes, and that's why Conservatives have lost faith in the courts.

Illegal Aliens, essentially exempt from American law.

Hillary Clinton... commits a string of felonies... mishandling classified data, influence peddling, tax evasion... and is untouched by the law.

Yes, he's obviously an Obama-drone. Law says something you don't like (e.g., immigration laws)? Then just ignore it and pretend it says something else. Politically inconvenient for you to enforce the law as written (e.g., Obamacare)? Then just "reinterpret" the words of the law, and pretend they say the opposite of what they actually say.

It's typical liberal bullshit. Up is down and over is under and white is black and male is female, and anybody who disagrees is obviously just a h8ter! and a Nazi! and an ignorant raaaaaaacist!
