Andrew Breitbart's Wartime Consiglierte goes up against Establishment/US Chamber of Commerce/Main Street Partnership scion and Boehner Water Carrier Darin LaHood.

Watch (not just listen) below.

If the channel gets stuck, it might also be available here.

Also, it's the top story at Breitbart.

Update: I'm told that Mike will be appearing on Mark "The Great One" Levin's show at 8:30, or thereabouts. You can listen live here.

11 Some critics alleged a reputation for pork barrel spending, including in support of campaign contributors. The Washington Post reported that of the $60 million in earmarks LaHood secured for his district in 2008, $9 million went to campaign donors. http://tinyurl.com/oswk84a

That's only 15% diverted for graft. B y Washington standards, Darin's daddy was off his game.

from two threads down

The SCOTUS ruling is an old one that they had already shot down the AZ
law. AZ and KS tried to reword the law to provide a different wording.
What they had was State forms that required proof, the Supremes had
ruled that when using the Fed forms that required the "illegal" to swear
under the penalty of perjury that they were a citizen they could not
make them provide proof. Another court ruled that they could not get
around this by suing a State form for federal elections. SCOTUS did not
take the appeal which means the ruling stands based on not being able to
even get 4 judges to agree to take the case.

That means Kennedy AND Roberts sold us out.

That is also incorrect. They would not take the case at all and let an appellate court ruling stand that said you can not use a State Registration form for registering that required PROOF of citizenship. SCOTUS had already ruled on this previously over a year ago. AZ and KS were trying to get around that ruling.

This had NOTHING to do with voter ID when voting or registering.

There have been numerous cases brought by Holder to try and block voter ID laws. He has lost every time. It just can not require you to provide birth certificates etc. It is a totally different issue.

Just as an FYI, from what I've seen of US election integrity (voter registration, primarily) procedures and standards, our federal elections wouldn't pass muster with international/UN norms for same. (some states are not too bad, but this citizenship-sans-proof thing is a disqualifier)

And, of course, the US, via the UN and directly, for years has provided assistance and oversight to countries, for example, emerging from civil wars, with no previous history of elected government, to meet these international norms. Part of the formula that underlies the blessing of "free and fair" for such elections from the US, UN, and major developed countries. I've participated in such activities in countries emerging from long civil wars.

So there's that. The US in its wisdom refuses to adopt standards it considers the norm in election integrity. Perfect, really.

Vic - so, as a practical matter, wouldn't state-requirements in effect trump this stupid federal restriction, as voters show up to vote on all matters (state, local, federal) at one time and place, usually?

I mean, you're handed one ballot, or whatever, with all these things on it. Unless there are two ballots, polling places, or election times, then it's a unitary process. So a state with reasonable (i.e., citizenship-proof required) registration standards would, in effect, be vetting their voters for citizenship.

294 Really hard to tell if the general public will just go with name recognition. Even if Flynn's name was Breitbart, that name is recognized by the blog community, but so many are LIVs.

Flynn's strong points to me are pointing out LaHood's connection to the old machine versus his connection to taking down ACORN, and work against the establishment. With the Breitbart background, it seemed clear he would use media to get his/our message heard.

He made clear that DC doesn't listen to we the people, while LaHood went to DC for the big money. LaHood rattled off his endorsements, and Flynn should use that against him, as the establishment choice.

Turnout will be key ... I'd guess those angry and wanting change would be more motivated. That should bode well for Flynn. Hope so.

299 Flynn has so obviously thought about ideas and policy a ton more than the others. He showed that clearly. However, both he and LaHood both acted like he is behind a decent amount still. I liked the way Flynn dinged him on the sugar subsidy, and on being the party man. The line about having a debate probably was going to too big a bite, since anyone that was watching it with an open mind obviously thought it was worthwhile time investment. That's kinda an awkward thing to get to at the end of that forum.

The party is trying to run the clock out. The LaHood name is a lot to overcome in a short timeframe, when people are just waking up to the election now. LaHood's gambit is that people aren't paying attention, he can just spout off the talking points and wait it out. Being basically the district that brought us Bob Michel and his dad, he might be right. Darin does not display the same level of natural political ability as either of them did, though. Empty suit...I see the appeal for Boehner.

I think Reints is in there of his own volition, but if you think there is any ulterior motive to it, I guarantee it is to obscure LaHood's woodenness. It has nothing to do with dividing the anti-establishment vote, because Reints isn't going to get any of it. LaHood's stylistic weakness doesn't look so bad when you've got Reints speaking right before or after him.

387 Rusty Nail (214): "name one state that
has separate state and federal election ballots on election day". Virginia does. State elections (governor and both houses of the legislature) are in odd-numbered years, so it's not even the same election day. New Jersey, New York City, and Los Angeles also elect their chief executives in odd-numbered years, and (I think) also their legislators/city-councilmen. So two medium-sized states and the two largest cities in the U.S. have separate state/city and federal elections and (obviously) ballots.

I remember this because these four elections taken together often provide a convenient bell-wether indicator, giving a strong hint of what's likely to happen in the rest of the nation in the much bigger election a year later.

Ray LaHood, his Daddy, held the same seat they are running for for 14 years, and probably would still hold it if not for Obama offering him the TransSec gig. Who knows how many people even know this is not Ray LaHood running. Pastor Mark arrested for arson

This one was for arson of his ex-GF's home, however. Not church.

Posted by: ConservativeMonster at June 29, 2015 09:38 PM (0NdlF)

418 There are about five cases in Texas last few years where the pastors have been indicted or convicted of murder. Arson would be child's play.

422 Al Sharpton has never pastored a church, as far as I know. even thug he was ordained. Jesse Jackson hasn't been a pastor of a church for decades They are race hustlers and shakedown artists. Yes, pastors can be bad people.

423 And what about a preacher like Jeremiah Wright? Could you see someone like him burning down his own church?

If he was distracted by some strange and didn't notice his crack pipe lightin' up the curtains, sure. He ain't no consiglierte, that's for sure.

Actually, in a way...some might also assume that toasting their own churches under the cover of racist moral panics, may elevate them to the bigger $$$ leagues of the hustler class...

Not saying that's whats happened... just a possiblity.

433 Why would pastors burn their own churches?

we had one go up just a couple days ago. it hasn't been proveen but....

....it was a former church, semi historical, and they just got the OK to sell and the sale was blocked by history nuts the day before it burned up.

Kind of like when people went crazy talking about a black man found hanging in the woods in Mississippi when it was pretty clearly going to turn out to be suicide.

And then nobody will ever mention it again and people are left with the impression of evil racists murdering in Ms.

466 No, quite honestly. Jeremiah is a person whose views I utterly deplore but if people are burning down their own churches they're not ministers of the Gospel. I assume he thinks he is. If you've been at a place long enough you grow to love it. Even if some of the people there may not be the most pleasant souls you still have a connection to the place and its history
