.The last I read is he bought it with birthday money from his parents. He had to lie on the ATF form 4473 because he had been charged with a felony for drugs. I am not sure why that didn't show up on the NICS check though. Possibly there wasnt enough time for the charge to work it's way through the multiple data bases to get to the NICS guys.
Anyway, that's what I have read so far and I am sure everything I typed could possibly be wrong. But I don't think so. If this clown had legally acquired that gun the MSM would be touting it all over the news cycle 24/7.

You don't get into a methadone program without being addicted to a controlled substance. Doesn't matter if it was court-ordered or voluntary, in terms of the 4473, only the addiction is relevant.

This hypersensitive response is very antithetical to the concept of free speech. It's moved from raising the legitimate discussion of: "Should the State honor and revere Confederate symbols, because there's an undeniable connection to racism and slavery," to: "Let's ban all the things!!"
I seriously so do not fully understand it.

I haven't been following closely, but I would be shocked to find he was somehow dealing suboxone on the street. I mean, I'm not an expert on this topic, but that's what I've always been led to believe regarding this particular drug.

You are mistaken on all counts. It does get the user high and it does have street value. It is an expensive opioid agonist/antagonist mixed with naloxone so that it cannot be injected to get the addict high. It is addicting in itself with a half life shorter than methadone and is very successfully used to wean heroin addicts. We used to use it on the wards when we had a heroin addict come in with a medical problem that kept them in ICU or in a bed for days.
