The Tragic Tale of Ariel Ronis and Escaping the Shaming Spiral of the Social Media Mob

The mob is cruel, vicious, and happily self-righteous in their thirst for blood. It's also fickle. So if the primary and secondary targets of the outrage mob turned off their social media for just 72 hours, a lot of the power and harm of the mob would be dissipated.

Looking For a Gothic Tale of a Southern Belle Gone Bad, a Crazy Fake Doctor, Murder, Incest, Uzi Gun Fights with Police, and a Suicide Bombing?

Well just go here and you'll get all that and more. Thanks to Jeff Dobbs at Just One Minute for bringing this story to my attention. I can't believe I missed this when it happened. And yes there was a Lifetime movie of it.

On June 3, 1985, a Chevrolet Blazer driven by Fritz Klenner exploded on N.C. 150 in Summerfield.

The bomb also killed Susie Newsom Lynch, his first cousin, lover and co-conspirator.

Her sons, John and Jim, were in the Blazer and already dead - poisoned and shot - when she or Fritz flipped the switch.

An hour earlier, Fritz tried to gun down police officers with an Uzi near the intersection of Friendly Avenue and New Garden Road. He wounded two officers, one seriously.

Those dramatic events revealed a tale too sensational even for Hollywood to script, one of wealth, power, incest, mental illness.

And deaths. So many senseless deaths.

Josephine Cochrane, Dishwasher

There are those who bitch and moan about a problem, and then there are those who actually go out and do something about it.

She hated washing dishes. She hated the way her servants did dishes. She hated the way dishes often chipped during washing. She longed for the day when a machine washed dishes. She waited. And waited. Then waited some more.

In 1886, Josephine Garis Cochrane finally said, "If nobody else is going to invent a dishwashing machine, I'll do it myself."

And she did.

...Cochrane had an advantage. She actually had washed dishes. She knew what it took. Her machine involved placing dishes individually in racks and then spraying hot, soapy water on them. She used water pressure instead of scrubbers to do this. Then she rinsed the dishes. With the help of George Butters, she built one and got a patent on December 28, 1886. She debuted the machine at the 1893 world's fair in Chicago to rave reviews. Orders came through from restaurants. In 1897, she hired Butters and began the Garis-Cochran Dish-Washing Machine Company. Selling the machines to her neighbors was not going to cut it. The Palmer Hotel in Chicago placed an order. She realized hotels and restaurants were where the money was and she had to track it down.

No, it's just that the few selections of actual jpn fiction i've read outside of anime/manga has been less than fiction. Pastiche with an emphasis on the worst possible aspects of the human condition.

Plots in Japan fiction, like perspective in ukiyo-e, seem to be avoided with a prerogative.

One of the Obama people was a large, white, sissy looking male tub of guts who looked like he thought the Obama tat would impress the ladies...or help him in his government job.

The second Obama tattoo was going to a woman around 40 who wanted it on her ribs. The Ink Master Joey, who is incredibly professional and does amazing work, tried to talk her out of the ribs but the bitch wouldn't budge.

And while President George W. Bush certainly had his flaws, I still like the guy and have some respect for him. But I couldn't imagine having his face on my skin for the rest of my life.

238 Odd about the helmet.

This morning I was walking about daybreak, and saw a guy sitting on the curb waiting for a ride, he had his lunch, boots on and was wearing one of those aluminum helmets you (well, some people wear) when working in the woods.

I asked him if he was working for a company clearing brush or working on a wild fire crew.
He looked surprised and said that he was working for a crew that was working in a vineyard.
I asked what the helmet was all about, and he said he couldn't find his hat, and couldn't afford to buy another one just now, so he had his helmet on instead.

There were days when I thought I was strange.

284 wearing one of those aluminum helmets you (well, some people wear) when working in the woods.

My grandfather, who worked for Atlantic Richfield his entire career (apart from a stint in the Coast Guard during the war), used to tell a funny story about helmets and oil fires--pretty sure it starred Red Adair and crew, but it might have been Boots and Coots. Think Hellfighters in any case.

These oilfield firefighters always wear metal hard hats. At some point, I think in the '70s, OSHA decided to change the regulations and require plastic hard hats. Well, Adair (or whoever it was) invited an OSHA inspector to come out to a fire to see how things worked first-hand. He wore a metal hard hat; the OSHA twit wore a plastic one. But it wasn't long before the OSHA twit had to hurry back to the field house.
His hard hat was melting.
That put an end to the new regulation real fast!

When my sister was in college, she somehow got herself into a situation where she had three roommates named "Lisa" (IIRC). N.B. my sister's name is not Lisa.

So each of the Lisa's had an additional tag to identify just which Lisa it was. One that I actually met (and had stay with a friend of mine while visiting this way) was "Lisa the Nose". Before she showed up here, I was told that "Lisa the Nose" had had a boob job. When she and my sister were in the area, I could certainly appreciate that she had -- she was extremely bodacious.....but, y'know, family, honor, trying to stay out of trouble....I kept my eyes elsewhere and it never came up in conversation.

I find out after she left that it had been breast-reduction surgery by about 50%. Shocked me but good.

Obviously 'cause I was doing an "off-the-cuff" based on dates in the wrong column of a table.

I consider the 11th dubious because I believe sovereign immunity to be a pernicious affront to the state's accountability to its citizens. The 12th diddles Presidential elections in a way I am little familiar with....but considering my estimation of the intelligence of folks in 1789 and 1803....

The 20th has to do with the terms of elected officials. It probably didn't go far enough

The 25th has never been used, and -- IMHO -- will probably never be used properly.

As for the 27th, I would argue that Congressional salaries may not be changed while any member of Congress who enacted the last change remains in office. [To clarify -- there are 434 members of the house. If a session votes for an increase in salaries, it may not take effect while a single member of the House that voted for the increase remains in office.]

The 25th has been used several times. A Veep temporarily taking over Presidential powers has happened more than once.

Ford was made Veep due to the 25th Amendment.

I don't really have a problem with the 20th or 25th amendment, as they are mostly technical in nature.

The 11th spoke to the states in regards to their sovereignty as opposed to mere provinces, and the 12th seems an improvement based on actual experience.

The 27th is better than nothing, though it was effectively voided when the courts ruled that "cost of living" adjustments weren't a salary increase...

443 This effort to have the battle flag of northern Virginia removed is really an attempt to segregate and isolate the entire South and to sort of Alinsky it. You know, the Rules for Radicals, you seek the target, you isolate it, you attack it, humiliate it. This flag represents what the left believes is the last remaining Republican electoral stronghold in terms of presidential politics, and that would be the South. So this is an effort going far beyond the Confederate flag or the battle flag of the army of northern Virginia.

US ex-officials, experts warn of weak Iran deal
Former Obama aides say agreement risks failure to secure safeguards and that it will leave the Islamic Republic as a 'nuclear threshold state'.

A group of prominent American security advisers, including five with ties to President Barack Obama's first term, warned on Wednesday that a deal on curbing Iran's nuclear program was at risk of failing to provide adequate safeguards.

The class was cancelled, however, due to the fact that no students had enrolled in it. However, anti Israel student groups are said to be trying to recruit students so that the course can be revived.

Smith, said Miller, has called the creation of the Jewish State a shameful chapter in Jewish history.

Good Morning Morons. Today is Thursday, June 25, 2015. On this day in 1998 in Clinton v. City of New York, the United States Supreme Court ruled that the Line Item Veto Act of 1996 was unconstitutional. So why is Obama getting away with selective enforcement of laws and making new laws on it own? Isn't that the same as a line item veto, except even worse? Why, because we have no opposition Party.

Assuming this is legit -- and, if so, it sure as hell seems incomplete, since it doesn't list donations from a lot of companies that should be pushing for ChoomTrade -- notice that Great Conservative Hope Teddy Crooooz took a fall for a mere $250....

525 So, Obama is going to allow ransom payments to hostage takers, and will not allow hostile forces to be engaged if those forces are hiding behind human shields.

Seems like a winning strategy to me. Just as long as one has a secure villa in a non disclosed location to flee to when the SHTF.

526 What would the Obama administration suggest as an alternative for the American flag-a green and blue background symbolizing the earth, a globe in one corner and Obama's face in the other?

If i weren't rather cowardly I would probably put this outside on my whiteboard sign:

"What I like best about the Obama era is all the racial healing."

Kudos to whichever Tweeter came up with that.

527 The TPP was passed by the best Senators money can buy.

531 So what's going on with Mr/Mrs Jenner lately? Let's keep our eye on the ball(s) people. Stay focused on important stuff.

532 It's been mentioned before, but it really is striking how Stalin, ISIS and the American Left all vehemently support destroying and/or removing historical facts/artifacts which they find inconvenient to the narrative.

I'll list those again.

Stalin
ISIS
The Left

533 Good morning horde.

Read that story about the guy who committed suicide after a Twitter mob went after him. Yes, they are a vicious bunch, but something else had to be going on with him as well. A grown man kills himself because of social media? It's likely that he was already suicidally depressed and the SJWs provided him with an excuse.

534 And as I load the dishwasher before I go to work this morning, I'll say, "Bless you, Josephine Cochrane."

535 Truly a tragic tale. While the girl who cried racism shouldn't be at fault for his suicide, she should be persecuted for slander. Though she was certainly a contributing factor, we can't let people off the hook for offing themselves, lest we make it a viable option for those at the end of their rope.

Have to love the counter-example to modern feminism that is Josephine Cochrane. At a time (1800s) when feminists would acknowledge women were second-class, she was a single mom who paved her own way with a smart invention and an entrepreneurial spirit.
