Jeb Bush's First Campaign Ad: I Care More About Minorities, Women, and the Disabled Than My Republicans Opponents and Also That Alcoholic Crone Hillary

Why am I calling Hillary an alcoholic? Oh, I read it in in a magazine.

I think Jeb's ad is pretty good (which is not at all to say I support Jeb).

I think some will fault him for "not pushing back against liberal memes and tropes." Those memes and tropes being that a person's compassion is measured by those legislative initiatives he supports on behalf of black people, Hispanics, and women.

The height of morality is to address a complaint of a minority (or a woman -- "The 51% Minority").

Whereas, on the other hand, the complaints of white people are dismissed as "anger" and "rage."

But it's not a candidate's job to fight the American people's delusions and prejudices on every front. Candidates usually must play to the public's stupidities and bigotries.

This ad is soft and sugary as heck. But I think it's successful in humanizing Jeb. And considering the fact that the progressive psyops campaign is to dehumanize all non-progressives -- and considering how successful that psyops campaign is -- it's important to insist upon one's own humanity.

And, as Allah's post notes, it's all about winning over women, who seem to value empathy and shows of "caring" far more than men, despite the fact that our brains are exactly alike in all ways and that there's no difference at all between men and women except when Bruce Jenner says he always felt like he had a Ladybrain.

In other Jeb! news (the video suggests that that is the proper punctuation when speaking of Jeb!), a Jeb! campaign aid said that Jeb! will be going into "Pickett's Charge" mode against other candidates.

117 I think some will fault him for "not pushing back against liberal memes and tropes." Those memes and tropes being that a person's compassion is measured by those legislative initiatives he supports on behalf of black people, Hispanics, and women.

The height of morality is to address a complaint of a minority (or a woman -- "The 51% Minority").

A REAL fiscally conservative pro-capitalism candidate would aggressively promote the "a rising tide lifts all boats" argument, which has been conclusively proven true numerous times throughout history, that fair and universally egalitarian pro-growth economic strategies would benefit EVERYONE but would most benefit the lower classes because their daily solvency is most sensitive to economic trends. (E.g. it doesn't personally affect a rich guy if unemployment goes up by 1%, but it directly affects millions of real poor individuals.)

What UNDERMINES "universally egalitarian pro-growth economic strategies" are special handouts, pork-barrel politics, dependency culture, crony capitalism, favoritism toward special groups, and central planning of the economy -- ALL of which have been practiced or promoted in extremis by Obama. (And, sadly, by many of his predecessors to various degrees.)

Short version: Want to help the underprivileged? STIMULATE THE ECONOMY.

But did Jeb!! do that? No. He pandered to the special interest cliques, and promised more Obamism.

Booooooooo.

"Compassionate conservatism."

That last one is what really chaps my hide. As though conservatism as normally practiced somehow is lacking in compassion, and requires a modifier to describe the special kinder-gentler Bush "conservatism", which is UTTER BULLSHIT.

For once I'd like a conservative candidate who instead of playing a back-footed defensive game of redefinitions, instead went on active offense and regularly listed the callous, uncaring, noncompassionate aspects of modern liberalism. Starting with the shattering of families as deliberate policy.

And, gee, before the Bushes, wasn't there actually a Republican presidential aspirant who did that stuff? Quite successfully? And who had an actual non-failed Presidency, unlike either one of the Bushes who have had the job so far.

Yet Jeb goes around trying to say he created Harvard on the Gulf or something. The Florida budget rose monumentally (as did welfare programs) under his stewardship. But we are big meanies for pointing that out.

He's also a thin skinned idiot who can't take any criticism.

Jeb absolutely has 0% chance to be president, nobody wants another Bush, and this is obvious to everyone not named Jeb Bush. He only ensures a Billary win by running.

Bletch.

I know; it's supposed to appeal to women. I guess all the so-called women whining about microaggressions and other such dreck may have given the political class the impression that women are poor helpless dears that need the government to care about all the soft, helpless creatures that can't take care of themselves, etc, etc.

It inspires me only with the urge to projectile vomit.

I am female, and if a guy treated me the way Jebby seems to think we need to be treated, cared for and sympathized with, lifted up and coddled in the cruel, mean world, along with the other disadvantaged groups that he covers here, I would spit in his eye.

I don't want a Chief Social Worker of the United States. I want a tough, effective President who will stand up for America against all the rising dangers both in and out of the country. I am a grandmother, who fears for my children and their children, and wants them protected from terrorism, illegals who steal their jobs, lousy education (Common Core, for example) and the rest of the craziness that is scaring the daylights out of me.

And that man isn't Jeb Bush.

I would this figure on the basis of empirical evidence that yes, this sort of nonsense carries *considerable* weight.

And there is nothing draconian about pushing a social agenda which is consistent with the values that have been held in this country since our founding. So again, bullshit.

The left hasn't been winning because their positions have become popular with the mainstream of America. They win because they own the msm which pretends these positions are mainstream and by running a better ground game to get out marginal, often dead, voters.

Anyway, my point was a rebuttal to the idea that the above described person makes a logical decision to vote for the person who promises her more welfare. Which I do think happens but not very much.

The goal of these trolling sessions is NOT to "change our minds" -- it is to WASTE OUR TIME.

The goal is to make 1,500 conservative activists waste time, effort and effort jousting with a handful of paid trolls rather than spend our time usefully on changing the culture or mediascape.

These guys are purposely trying to draw fire and attention.

While the Left's cutting-edge activists are out corroding culture and undermining society in effective ways, the "Right"'s activist are sniping at professional trolls and not addressing real issues.

"Game Over" knows this. He's paid to stay on script despite all debunkings or rebuttals. The very staying on script is what makes him infuriating, and effectively draws attention to him from folks who otherwise could be more effective elsewhere in the culture wars.

What they don't know is that they're wasting their time, and not really draining any temporal resources from their opponents.

Even so let this be a lesson to everyone here:

Get.

Asses.

Every instance the left tries to achieve some goal, use that attempt as an inspiration to go the extra length to make them lose that goal, and another goal too for good measure.

377 Correlated. And if you do the same thing for EVs you get a similar result.

I'm more sanguine. Since 2008, the Republicans have picked up both houses of Congress, 33 State Legislative chambers and 8 Governorships. I think the EV will definitely be in the Republican's favor this cycle, God help us all.

383 >>If the Mittbot 3000 had been able to pull the white working-class vote in the upper Midwest, it might in fact have been enough to win.

I seem to recall a study that said if Mitt had pulled in 4-5% more white voters he would have won. If he had doubled his Hispanic vote, he would have still lost.

The Democrats have done a clever trick by getting Republicans to chase Hispanic votes; they alienate working class white voters by chasing votes that don't even matter.

The most basic one: Equal treatment under the law.

389 Hector, perhaps you can answer this: if Bruce Jenner had realized he was a black lesbian woman - do you think his transformational surgery would have gotten him onto the cover of Vanity Fair?

Posted by: Grampa Jimbo at June 15, 2015 03:17 PM (V70Uh)

393 There was that other charge, by lead by that guy from New England, some sort of history teacher, at Gettysburg. The last time anyone used bayonettes successfully. Maybe that was the charge that Jeb! was thinking of.

394 I think Hector is one of the paid Russian Trolls - the unfamiliarity with the English idiom is a dead give away. So Hector, how much vodka would you have to drink to have sex with Caitlyn Jenner?

395 Christ on a crutch. #250, I am in some ways an unreconstructed Confederate, but there is no way short of a post Gettysburg collapse of the Lincoln Administration that a Federal loss at Gettysburg wins the war. Grant took Vicksburg the next day. Plus, if Lee does win, he now has a wounded but victorious army north of the Potomac where it cannot be reinforced but CAN be isolated and destroyed in detail.

Until my junior year at Ole Miss, I really thought a fast move toward DC could have captured it and ended the war. Then I did some research on the fortification of Washington. No fucking way. The Army of Northern Virginia was a fast light infantry force with a cavalry division and an artillery train. Lee was a Napoleonic general, an open field slasher. He would have needed a siege train and specialists not common since the Middle Ages to crack open Washington, and while he is doing that, nothing stops Grant from bringing about half of the victorious Army of the Tennessee up the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers, across by rail, then using the ANV from behind like a jailhouse bitch.

Though Newt Gingrich annoys me, he got with MG Scales from the War College and examined this in some depth. Got a pretty good novel trilogy out of it about ten years ago.

396 #393, Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain's charge at Gettysburg was nowhere near the last successful bayonet charge in American military history. Look up Lewis H. Millett's Medal of Honor citation for Hill 180, Osan, Korea. I will wait.

402 It's probably gossipy for me to speculate on whether Hillary is an alcoholic (although my latest spam says "tell a friend about their drinking problem". I didn't know Hillary was my friend but....) However, something is not right with her. Whether it's issues with a stroke or drinking or both I couldn't say. The photo of Hillary on a plane being handed a drink is not a good photo.

In my opinion a major problem with her is spiritual.
If you're richer than almost anyone in the world it's too easy to make yourself your own god.

404 Jumbo, Turner actually did a pretty good job with Gettysburg, and Daniels should have had an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. But anyone who takes that film depiction and extrapolates that it was the last bayonet fight is misinformed.
